So delighted this bridge was finally finished. Great to have another way across the river
Would like to see the city remove the debris buildup underneath the bridge.
Great views of the city and the river! Bring sunglasses when its sunny out, the metal decking can get blindingly bright. If youre running, pick your feet up, the decking has some joints that stick up ever so slightly - just enough to cause you to trip!Park on the north side of the river near Tredegar St and Browns Island Way or on the south side of the river on Railroad Ave next to SunTrust.
Gorgeous landscape of Richmond. I come to Richmond every week for work and I think this maybe the highlight of coming here. Such a gorgeous place to run, walk or just get away.I had a hard time finding the parking for this as the GPS kept stopping on the highway bridge. So I googled the climbers parking lot and there’s a path that takes you to the walking bridge and overlook.A must while your in Richmond for a big chunk of their history and natural beauty!
A truly delightful bridge connected to the Richmond Canal Walk. It has a lot of historical markers and gives you an incredible view of the James River in all its glory, of Downtown Richmond, and of the surrounding nature and areas. It is a small path in terms of width but stretches across the entire James and connects the trails and parks around the waterfront. A great site to visit and enjoy!
Beautiful place to enjoy the city views and escape.
The Potterfield Bridge in Richmond is a wonderful spot to hike, bike, enjoy lunch or just relax. The ever-changing river at the Fall Line is a fascination, and there are many enjoyable events on Browns Island. The bridge itself includes quotes on the Civil War and the burning of Richmond, with a nice view of the remnants from that time, and signage that tells the story.
Ive been here twice this summer and absolutely love it!
Definitely one of the highlights in the city of Richmond, beautiful views and some interesting historical markers about the burning and evacuation of Richmond in April 1865
I like this bridge because it is definitely a bridge. With some bridges, you start to walk down them and realize at a certain point Oh! This is not a bridge, this is a dock or pier! But not this bridge, no sir. This bridge has it all: completeness, bridge-like structuring ... et cetera. The only reason this bridge gets 4-stars from me is because I have to wonder, is this too much of a bridge? Its not quite Goldilocks for me, but to each his own ... especially when it comes to bridges.
Best view of the historic James River!
Peaceful, kind of crowded, worth the walk though.
Gives you a great view of the city by the James River. Great place for a family stroll that is dog friendly
Beautiful new way to view the James river
This pedestrian bridge is a must-do when in Richmond. It connects Browns Island to Manchester. As you enter from Browns Island, plaques give you the history of this historic bridge and city. Take time to read the quotes on the bridge as you walk over AND dont forget to stop and enjoy a beautiful view of downtown Richmond. On the other side of the bridge is a rock climbing area as the trail goes into the Manchester neighborhood. If its a sunny day, dont forget to wear sunscreen as theres no shade on the bridge.
This is an awesome pedestrian bridge over the James. I come here often just to get away from the city hustle. The bridge itself is a nice addition but the views back into downtown are equally as astonishing. A great place to see the river rapids on the handful of sitting areas on the bridge itself.
Nice place.. Take your girl..!
Very beautiful place
Amazing bridge! It’s always so peaceful here and a nice guaranteed breeze every time! It’s safe to walk on at night, with lights and benches throughout the bridge. Also during the summer, people are always there with kayaking rentals!
Awesome way to experience the James River in downtown Richmond.
This is a beautiful multi-purpose Bridge perfect for evening and morning runs, riding bicycles, running your dog, and more. If you are in the area for a short time this is a great place to go if you want to have a good view of the Richmond Skyline and the James River.
A nice place to walk and enjoy the beauty of Richmond
Love coming out here at night...Great sunset shots! Wish parking were better.
Its always hot when I go, but the views are amazing! Great interpretive signs on walkway. I walk from hotel so parking isnt an issue, but there seems to be parking nearby.
Very nice bridge for a walk, jog, or run! Connects Manchester (and the Flood Wall path) to Browns Islands (from which you can easily access the downtown core) Nice wide platform provides plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Perfect views of the city and of course the James River that it crosses
Great pedestrian bridge and public sculpture park crossing the James at a picturesque spot.
Great place to take a walk. .It also has a nice View of downtown at night.
This is great excuse to go out at lunch during the week for a quick power walk across the river, or for a leisurely stroll across in the evening or on the weekend.
Always good for a nice breeze in the day and a beautiful view of the city at night. Tough break for some dogs with the metal flooring so beware of your K9s paws if you want to go on the bridge.
Wonderful day of bike riding over the James River
Awesome foot bridge with hostirocial information throughout. Great view of the river and the ruined Civil War bridge.
Its always a treat to walk on this bridge when Im home from Florida nice view of downtown and the James. You have two ways to get on the bridge either on the Southside from semmes Avenue behind the SunTrust Bank or north of the River from Browns Island .
A very peaceful serene walk that pays tribute to those who passed away during the Civil War. The quotes along the route are beautifully sad. Its a nice trek from point A to point B and overlooks the beautiful James River.
Great walk and views. Wish the bike and scooter rentals were more obvious. Would love to see more food vendors and trash cans on the Manchester side.
Very nice to see and hear the rushing waters...
Pretty cool views
Great place to run or view the city. The quotes are a very neat and quick way to learn about the history of Richmond. Amazing way to connect and access trails.
One of the best parts of Richmond
The TTP pedestrian / bicycle bridge that connects Browns Island (north side of James River) to Manchester (south side of James River) is a wonderful asset that serves IMHO to enhance and promote accessibility, healthy outdoor activity, and fun/adventure/discovery in downtown RVA. Not only does it link the north and south banks of the river, and the James River Park system (and paths/trails), but it also offers fabulous views / vistas of the RVA skyline, the falls of the James in RVA, and nature / wildlife that make the James River in Richmond such a treasure. It is a great place to visit on your own or with friends... and it makes taking in and enjoying the many interesting,, meaningful, and unique sites, and frequenting the many excellent food & beverage establishments in downtown & in Manchester by foot or by bike relatively easy & safe. Its certainly worth checking out.
We love the TPot Bridge! It’s a beautiful spot to take a walk. Great addition to RVA!
Great trail, great history and great views. Came for a marathon, really enjoyed touring the area. Had a really good time strolling across the bridge and viewing James River, the rapids and the town.
Very scenic and beautiful place to walk around on a nice day.
Making this pedestrian walkway was one of Richmond better ideas. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk across it as well as the path on the other side of the river in Manchester. Just one more way to enjoy the beautiful James River.
Beautiful walking bridge. Tasteful historical events depicted on treads. A must for any vist to RVA.
It was awesome. I loved the quotes on the bridge.
Fresh air birds and lots of people what could be better?
Great footbridge that was recently completed. Awesome views and photo ops of Richmond. The materials used and the quotes on the ground are really informative and historic. They just did a fantastic job with this - easy to access from the Browns Island area and Tredegar!
Absolutely loved it. Beware of the summer heat though..
Make sure you have water, hat and sunscreen. Nice place to walk or run.
Incredible spot to walk around
Beautiful pedestrian bridge over the river. Great place to have a lunch break.
Nice crossing to Manchester but they shouldnt allow dogs walking.
Beautiful sweeping views of Richmond and surrounding areas. The River James is breathtaking here. It is awesome to read about the burning of Richmond along the steps.
Love the view, keep the cyclists off though.
Walking across the bridge was a very peaceful way to spend my Sunday morning. It was finally nice to walk across. I hadnt seen it completed in person yet and its quite beautiful.
An instant gem for Richmond. The bridge and walkway make for a nice stroll any time of year for locals - but its also a great place to take visitors from out of town for a very unique vantage point to view of downtown. Its not everyday you get to walk over the rapids in the middle of the city.
Gorgeous views, lots of people watching. The bridge has a nice concise historical education of the end of the civil war. Be careful with bringing dogs, though, their lil nails can get stuck in the metal bridge slats!
I had an absolutely marvelous time looking at the water come down the river of the James River it was peaceful everybody was there we were going over to the Browns Island where that was a art vendors treats for the dogs skateboarding bicycle rim jumping just a whole good afternoon with great people
This bridge is the best thing to happen in the city for quite some time. I love walking across this bridge. If you bring your dog, please clean up after it!
Probably the best view of downtown Richmond you can get. You can create a great loop after crossing the bridge to south side (Manchester), walking the flood-wall down to 14th St Bridge (Mayo Island), and walking the pipeline park back up to Browns Island. About a 2-mile loop total.WARNING: There have been numerous reports of dogs getting their toenails caught in the 1/4 gaps of the metal strips comprising the surface. Only bring your dog if they have booties, or very short toenails.
I drove to the south side of the river to view this new wonder of Richmond, Virginia. It is a splendid addition that allows for a healthy walk between Browns Island and the southern side of the James River. The bridge is only a few weeks old, but its artistic beauty is sure to welcome Richmonders and guests for centuries to come .
Amazing place for breathing in the tranquility. I love visiting this place before sunset.
Nice place to site see and walk at.
Beautiful bridge completed in 2017. Recommendations: (1) definitely stop in the middle and enjoy a view of the city, (2) best views from this bridge are at sunset, (3) if you want to make a loop walk using this bridge, start at browns island -> head across the bridge away from downtown richmond -> on the far side head up the stairs to the left and once you get to the top you will see a trail heading East along the top of the floodwall of the south side of the james river -> take that walkway all the way to the 14th street bridge back towards richmond -> and then once back on the city side of the bridge, head left (west) along the locks trail which will take you back to browns island. Love this bridge, offer my highest recommendations.
A great resource for the city of Richmond
A favorite for my urban hikes connecting Northside to Southaide of the James River.
Very nice park in downtown Richmond, VA. 2 bridges across the James River, 1 to Belle Isle. Lots of walking trails on Belle Isle.
Beautiful views all along the river and a great walk!
Very nice place to take your kids for walk... I love this bridge
Pretty cool hike/ day walk spot . crossing over the James river and connects to Browns island .
OMG! This is a must destination if visiting RVA!
Nice place to enjoy some sun
This bridge is a place where past and future comes together. It is more then a pedestrian bridge. Several explanatians can be found what happened during the civil war. Alsof explanatians of the industrial use of the river. Walking to the other side You will meet people of all ages. Families, children, couples in love, runners, bikers, tourists, retired couples and singles enjoying the sound of the streaming water and the marvelous views to all sides. It is a meeting place for everyone. In the neighbourhood is a variaty of animals. In the river turtles and fishes, a sturgeon for instance. In the river banks I spotted a coyote and a red fox. If you like walking and nature, it is a great place to be!
The James River is a beautiful scenery below. The walk across the bridge is just great! The bridge itself is smooth and roomy!
Great family walk across the river
Great pedestrian walkway with history
They did a great job refurbishing this pedestrian walkway. Great for walking, running, taking the kids or pets out, bicycling, and just scoping out the views. As of December 2016, they are installing benches and extra lighting.
A great addition to our beautiful, charming city. Ive walked the bridge and enjoyed the scenery many times
Awesome calm place
Im here once a week, its a gorgeous peaceful place. Great for bird and people watching
Gorgeous views
I am so lucky to work downtown and be able to enjoy this walk during my lunch hour. It is amazing - way to go RVA!
Good views, relaxing walk
Awesome every time that we’ve been able to go across!
Love to go walking here and enjoy the scenery
My favorite place in Richmond.
So freaking cool!!!!! i could stay here all day and watch the water!
Really best
Great place in every season! Although, there is a sign saying in a large part of the bridge your dogs toenails could get caught in the grating.
