It was built on the site of the citys first bridge completed in 1788 by John Mayo Jr. It is Richmonds oldest highway bridge across the James River. The bridges closeness to the river surface has made the sidewalks on either side of it popular fishing locations.
It was real nice and the people where very friendly.
I like paddling in this area and appreciate this historic bridge, but it is in poor repair and is crumbling (at least cosmetically).
I love driving across this bridge at sunset, beautiful views of the river! Sometimes in the middle of the night, the fishermen scare me when Im driving; I dont know if theyre sleeping or dead!
I didnt like it too many rocks
Dirty, cars whizzing by and splash you in the rain, smells of rotten trash and is a sure bet for catching a blood borne pathogen.
Great pull out just after Pipeline Rapids !
Nice looking bridge with a lot of history. dirty bumpy and a hangout spot for homeless people though
Great bridge, gets me here, gets me there.
