For those who love military history and ships this ship provides a lot to enjoy. The ship is in states of full restoration and parcel restoration and provides a surrealistic glimpse into the past what the men who served on this ship had to deal with and how time has taken a toll on this ship over the years. The ship usually has docents and crew members who know everything about the ship and can explain things to you in great detail. The ship also serves as a place for events that celebrate the past. They have social functions like dances or pancake breakfast or even events where people sing and celebrate moments in history. If youre even any bit curious as to what shifts of World War II were like I encourage you to visit the ship. Its in an area that affords less complicated parking then you would experience in visiting ships in San Francisco. Go to their website and check out that page and then check out the ship!

We visited on a day when they were celebrating Rosie the Riveter, live band, cooking breakfast in the ships galley, eating on the deck in brilliant sunshine and a fantastic view of the bay and San Francisco. Docents explaining the history and functions of the ship. It was a great experience. The ship is a treasure and part of history touching on womens rights and the rights of blacks and other minorities. Worth seeing.

I loved this museum! She is an impressive ship to behold, and truly a wonderful piece of history. The people who work there are really nice, and treated us with respect. I urge anyone who can spare the money to donate to this beautiful ship. She’s almost back to running condition and could really use the help!

Great WWII piece of history that is being restored by volunteers. SS Red Oak Victory was built in 90 days. Yes, an army of Rosies welders and other women workers built the ship. In dock in Richmond, CA where she was built. Well worth a visit.

See volunteers working hard on Tuesdays. Tours available a couple of days a week. Next to the ROV is one of the giant Whirly Cranes used during WWII at the Kaiser Shipyard to construct Liberty & Victory ships. There is a nesting pair of ospreys that build a nest to raise a new brood each spring until they are fledged in late Summer. You often can see the parents feeding fresh caught fish to their chicks. You can not get closer elsewhere to observe ospreys along the shoreline.

Started a bit rocky with the sign-in desk being upset that we had bought the tickets online as part of the Rosie the Riveter event.. aside from that the tour was nice... it will be incredible when the restoration is complete. Great walk back in time.Recommend pay on site and sneakers.

My visit to the Red Oak Victory brought back memories from my time in the US Navy. I served aboard two modified Victory ships, four years at sea. This ship is priceless, I hope it continues to be maintained for future visitors. If anyone wants to see a bit of history from WWII then you must visit this ship! I hope to see her again one of these days! Also, about the review from Tracy Lim: Shes an idiot and has no clue what this ship represents. Its not a tourist attraction!!!

Okay, not stellar. The signs indicate it is part of the NPS, but they dont honor any NPS pass. There is a $10 fee for each person (no children, senior, student, etc rates) and it is cash only. When we visited, there were four employees/volunteers at the entrance and all they wanted to do was talk amongst themselves. They didnt offer any assistance the entire time we were aboard. It was nice to see an actual Liberty Ship, but they could easily make it more enjoyable if they provided more information, pictures, personal stories, and videos. To me, it felt like they are wasting a golden opportunity.

GREAT WWII HISTORY!!!I was a Richmond resident and a R.U.H.S. Oiler as a young man and was thrilled to no end when I learned this remarkable history about Richmond. Its been 41 years since I left the Bay Area and returned for a tour at Christmas 2016. We were touring Pt. Richmond when our wanderings lead us to the Kaiser Ship-Building Docks of WWII on Canal Blvd. The volunteers and staff of Red Oak Victory are simply wonderful. They were extremely helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed their information and insights about the ship. The ONLY one left of the 747 ships built at Richmond, this is a very special part of WWII history. We sooo appreciated our tour and the fabulous way we were treated. Its a self guided tour so you can take your time and visit where you want for as long as you want. The only thing I would like to mention is PLEASE ramp up your marketing efforts so more people can enjoy this monument. There are many many WWII buffs that would love to visit this historic sight. Keep up the great work you are doing to restore her. Kudos. Thank You!!!
