Its a true Richmond gem. It has world class permanent and traveling exhibits. If you are looking for a great date, this is it. You can truly get to know someone here. Social distancing is easy to accomplish here in its large decorated grounds or spacious galleries.
Sunken Citys Exhibit is worth taking 2 hours out of your day to tour. Its pretty rare to see this exhibit. I recommend checking in on getting a VMFA membership as it will lower the cost for the exhibits, covers parking and provides a gift store discount on any purchases.
Beautiful, peaceful area open to the public. Gorgeous statues, Chihuly glass reeds in midern koi pond, plenty of seating and room to picnic on the lawn. A real treasure ️
The sculpture garden at vmfa features contemporary artists like Jaume Plensa and other sculptures that really make the space interesting. There are water features and an installation of red Chihuly reeds. There is the Belvedere which is at the top of the garden shes a great place to sit along another fountain. The sculpture garden is conveniently located next to vmfa parking structure. There is also a Confederate Chapel on the opposite end of the property which is also open to the public for exploration and interpretation. Theres another building on the grounds of the sculpture garden called the pauley center. If you enter the police enter youll be able to see the vmfa fellowship recipients art hanging on the walls. Inside the museum there is a cafe and restrooms along with a world-class collection of art. Pop into the cafe for a cup of coffee and then come back outside to the sculpture garden to Center one of the umbrellas under the crepe myrtles. Admission to the museum is free and the sculpture garden is free and open all the time. Parties can be scheduled weddings are held and many family days are scheduled throughout the year to activate the sculpture garden.

Small but good. Kudos for Rumors of War.
Nice park with benches and tables under some large trees where you can sit down and relax. A very lovely place.
I live nearby and absolutely love going here. Even just to sit in the yard.
Beautiful, a must see for any historical enthusiast
The Sculpture Garden is peaceful and lovely. I enjoy visiting or at least walking through it several times a week on my daily walks.
Always enjoy visiting the VMFA. It is awesome to just get lost in the museum and find works of art that you have never seen before. Check the website to see what exhibit is on showcase at the time.
I love being able to walk through art and time. I am amazed by what humans can create
The museum was a great way to spend half of my day, although the exhibits are so extensive I could have spent a whole day and still not finished seeing and enjoying all the museum has to offer!
