What you would expect a movie theater to be. Helpful and nice customer service even with last minute ticket buying. Boundaries for social distancing in place, clean and neat, along with great sound, and picture this, Movieland gets a five star in my book.

Kenya Jackson WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND! Awesome, awesome, awesome. Some friends and I drove to Virginia to check out the new movie Tenet since our state is still keeping theaters closed. We ended up at Bowtie and were the only people in the theater. As has been said in other reviews, the place was clean, workers were well prepared and super friendly. The movie ended and we left without thought. It wasnt until later that night I realized I was missing my new AirPods... like, purchased the night before new.Retracing my steps and praying for a miracle I called bowtie. Kenya Jackson answered the phone and heard my plea. She graciously asked me to hold while she ran into the theater to get my AirPods. I was sick when she came back and said, I didnt see them in there, sir. Ready to throw in the towel I thanked her and was about to hang up when she said but I can go in later and turn on the lights to see if I missed them.Still feeling a little hopeless, I said thanks and left her my number. To my surprise, a few hours later, Kenya called me and told me she FOUND my AirPods!!! I was ecstatic.... but now how to get them. Do I make a 5+ hour trip just to pick up some AirPods? Ill tell you right now, Kenya went above and beyond. She protected those AirPods like they were her own, obtained approval from her GM to mail them and shipped them to me FREE of CHARGE!!!When I think customer service is dead, I will remember Kenya. And if movies dont open soon in NC... Ill definitely be heading back to Bowtie. Thank You Kenya!!

I’m here right now, to watch a movie, and the theater has not been cleaned. We selected our seats according to what area looked decent enough for us to seat.... I would leave, but this is the only theater showing the movie we want to see, at this time of night. I won’t be back. The pictures I’m posting are tame, compared to the rest of the rows...Update... so we went to see John Wick 3... why were we given tickets for another movie, and sent to the wrong theater room (since the movie name isn’t listed outside the rooms)...? Thankfully we discovered their error in time, and didn’t miss the start of the movie.

Considering everything thats going on now with the pandemic. The fact that these people had everything meticulously set up, and then we were pretty much the only people in the theater made this a great experience especially reliving some of the classics from the 80s. The staff on hand were amazing and super polite.

No one is following covid guidelines a lot of places like to pretend it doesnt exist and want to continue as normal. Ive been to many places where half the employees arent wearing a mask and look at me sideways for trying to protect myself. People need to wake up and realize that this is real. Its been 9 months and people still deny it. As someone who survived this terrible illness and still has symptoms long after testing negative yall need to get it together. No one cares unless their love one gets sick or dies. Things will never be like they were before, wear a mask stop getting so close to me when Im out and use some common sense this is not going away in November for those who think this was created by Liberals to get rid of Sargent Cheeto Man.

Love this theater but holy hell, Im trying to find out what covid precautions theyve taken and theyre impenetrable. Theres no covid info on the website or facebook page, the FB page is not accepting messages, 354-6008 is only a showtimes recording, without option to speak to a human.. calls to 354-6099 go unanswered. Im giving up but if anyone has information about how Bowtie seating capacity has been amended, Ill take it!

Really nice venue. Loved how they transformed an old industrial building into a cinema. Great picture, nice reclining seats and stadium seating. Really nice movie place with a big parking lot. Student discount is what kept me coming back. The membership card also let you earn points that you can redeem for free stuff and even a movie ticket after a certain point. They tend to move relatively new movies to smaller screens early which might be unpleasing for the viewers because we are expecting a new movie to be on a big screen. Otherwise the theater is clean and the staff are helpful with good security presence.

Movieland is the only theater worth going to. Nothing against Regal Cinema 14 or anywhere else but once you go Bowtie you never go back....to any other theater that is. I dont know if its the vibe of the place or the lingering history of the train station it once was- honestly it could just be all the good memories I have there- but if you want a quality theater you wont forget, this is the place. Also gelato place right around the corner? Bonus Points Bonus Bonus: pictures of those good memories I mentioned

Bland popcorn. The lemonade is literally just water, but with a $6 cost. Screen 17 is small & they leave a light on by the emergency exit. The movie land is nice and big and open and an old train depot so fits in downtown Richmond. The seats are nice and the theaters have both the flatter old seats and some stadium seating. Across the parking lot there is the criterion cinemas— still a part of the bowtie but where they play more art films and a much smaller venue. Definitely an cozy theater experience— did I mention the ticket counter IS the snacks counter?!

The staff seemed great. Friendly, professional, and easy going. The building and seating are all rather old and outdated but it all looks well taken care of. The outside doesn’t look much like a theater, especially if you see it from the main road. It could easily be mistaken for an abandoned building but come into the parking lot and it’s clearly not abandoned and you’re left with a better impression. Nice theater. You can often find some more limited release movies there than you will at any of the Regal Cinemas in town. The only thing I dont like is you put your own butter on the popcorn, which means you cant get the server to layer it in, so all the butter just ends up on top. Picture quality and sound were first rate. Location is good with a variety of eating and drinking establishments just up the street in the Scotts Addition neighborhood.

Movieland is one of Richmonds youngest cinemas and located conveniently on the historic Authur Ashe Boulevard. Aesthetically it resembles a refinery plant from the outside (slighly in keeping with the current landscape of the area) but inside is a modern, cool layout with high ceilings, gorgeous earth tones, swanky light fixtures and plush carpeting. Parking is plentiful and the theatre rooms are spacious and clean. I enjoyed my movie experience there however one of the staff members could use a few more sessions in good customer service skills. I had major difficulty speaking with a Bowtie employee working the front counter regarding my Fandango tickets. I was reading the confirmation number to her (she refused to take my phone to enter it herself) and she literally got the entire sequence wrong multiple times. Her terse, unfriendly demeanor, ineffectiveness while inputting the confirmation number and reluctance to use my phone to enter the number was annoying and bizarre. My male companion also found the entire interaction strange at best...unprofessional at worst. The employees working the front counter should be warm, engaging and efficient as they can set the tone for ones experience. Fortunately the movie was so entertaining that this employees attitude didnt put a damper on an otherwise enjoyable evening at Movieland.

Great theater, friendly staff, comfy seats, ticket prices are reasonable... We go all the time, we love seeing movies here. The only issue weve ever had wasnt really the theaters fault....We went to go see a movie on a Friday evening, and the theater was packed. We ended up parking way in the back; almost the further point possible to the main doors while still on theater property. By the time the movie ended, it was late and dark. When we got to our car after the movie, we found our gas tank had been pumped. The car was left with just enough fumes to limp to a nearby gas station before we headed home. Because of this, we only go to movies when its still daylight.I dont fault the facility for this; they provide plenty of parking lot lighting (except for the far corners) and police do patrol every once-and-awhile. This was just a kiddish act by some inner-city punk...
