Great boat launch and place to watch the sunset. If you have kayaks, I HIGHLY recommend going through the mangrove tunnels nearby. There are quite a few of them, and the ones big enough to kayak through are visible on satellite view (as little lines through the forest). Very cool, and it’s probably one of the quickest boat launches to get to the mangroves from nearby
Nice, but the beach area, which is not for swimming, is under construction. Still has a great view of the harbour. Playground doesnt have a lot and its not big at all. It has picnic tables and a place to BBQ.
Nice park with great views and a great walkway through mangroves. There was also a bird sanctuary but we didnt visit.
Incredible Park, must visit and see. Public Boat Ramp and plenty of dock/pier space to fish. Great Nature Walk, Wildlife Center and Park. A highly recommended visit for a peaceful Florida Experience.
Great places to go fishing. You can catch some type of fish during low and high tides. We live 3 hours away and always look forward for a day at Ponce De Leon Park. The only part that bothers me is how an animal preserve park will not let animals on its property, talking about dogs or other pets you might want to bring with you. If it wasnt for that fact I would give it a 5 star rating.
I love this place.Always nice : fishing or sitting by sea wool. You can walk your doggy or to visit small zoo :)
1st time ever going to this park. Its a beautiful park with a beach and shelters for cookouts. Beautifully landscaping. And even has an estuary with beautiful birds. Also has a playground. Not much to the playground though. That could be better. Only a swing a sliding board one bouncy . Needs more playground activities for the kids.
Nice place to take a break on a motorcycle ride. There was nothing to eat or drink there but beautiful scenery.
Rented a pavilion with whole family for a Birthday party. I had 5 Grandkids and all in attendance. I have no idea why on Gods Green earth and before 6pm the bathrooms would be locked up . The gates are closed at sunset keep the bathrooms unlocked. Remember of the people for the people!I craped my pants.reallyUSMC veteran
Construction now, but nice nature in the small area.
The best place to watch the boats go by, regular dolphin sightings and other sealife and wildlife. Breathtaking sunsets night after night.
Nice place to go but the wildlife preserve was not open because of the covet but they were nice enough to bring out a few owls so that we could take a look definitely going back when the cove it is over.
Live music, fishing, dog friendly on leashes, beautiful view, grassy area to play frisbee, yoga was being done and so on.
One of my favorite places in Punta Gorda its very relaxing and everyone that I have talked to around there are just very good people and genuine and helpful when you have a question about anything around town.
Great place to relax and enjoy the water. It could be a great place to fish but the fishing area is too small and gets crowded...
Lively park and nature trails...its a great place to catch a sunset.
Nice clean little park. Great place to launch a boat.
Good morning at the park lots of birds this morning not so smelling good in the woods no osprey
Great place to fish and tell stories. Several boardwalks, allows for more to enjoy
Awesome little piece of paradise. So much to explore. The Peace River Wildlife Center makes the trip even more spectacular!
Very small but wonderful park to watch a sunset. Google has the park closing at 6pm. We were here on a Saturday night in June 2020 and the park was open for sunset (8:30ish). We arrived at the park at 7:30 the frame.
Here is where you can see the eagles, hacks, pelicans and docens of other birds, you can also enjoy the sunset and just relax for a while.
A great destination, though without the beach being easily accessible and being cleared of large rocks, the stars drop to 3, otherwise would be 5 star.
We stopped by the park during a trip to Punta Gorda and was pleasantly surprised as it offered a small strip of beach, toys for the kids to play on, and a few small walk-out piers where we watched locals fish. Of note, the beach does NOT offer easy access to the water for swimming as it was surrounded by pier walls. Also, bring extra water to spray down the toys since they were baking in the hot sun. Also, it was located next door to the bird sanctuary/rescue center and made for an easy visit. Lastly, the bathrooms were clean for a public park.
Very small oceanside, beach front park. Boat dock available for small watercrafts, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc. Maybe half mile loop through the jungle on a wooden path, lots of wildlife to see, and a lot of people fishing (not sure what the catch was). Bathrooms could use some cleaning, but overall great park. Peace River animal wildlife is also on premises, please donate to this worthy cause if you saunter through to check out the refugees.
A fun little park to explore while checking out the Peace River Wildlife Center. It isnt too big, with very little beach space so it gets pretty crowded pretty quick. But it does offer some nice views of the water. There is a short boardwalk trail, but part of it is closed off unfortunately. There is a boat launch and a few places to fish in the area.
Great place to relax with family. Or do some fishing
Beautiful secluded Park. Great place to launch your small baycraft. Has a playground and a beach although the beach doesnt go into the water but has a wall against the bay. Also not a great place to fish but still a beautiful spot
Great relaxing place for kayaking and enjoying the beautiful sunset
This Park is One of the best sunset viewing spots in Punta Gorda.
Love this place, like a mini va-cay.
Just an awesome place to take anybody friends family sweet hard children it is a beautiful beautiful park
It was it was awesome the only thing is the bird sanctuary was closed due to covid-19 which is understandable I will be going back to check it out
Ponce De Leon is the point of the point. The view from here is a panoramic of Charlotte harbor. The critters that are around here are really really cool. If you get here at certain times you will see things that you wont see anywhere else. My wife and I absolutely love this place. The sunset from here is certainly a shining example of Gods work.
Great place to walk and relax!!
I love this park! The park has a small playground for children, boat ramp, sandy beach area, picnic areas with BBQs. The views from the waterfront are some of the best in all of Southwest Florida. Its worth the drive to get their. I live in Fort Myers and drive there for the views.
Love going there with kids and by myself as well to walk around or fishing. Great old Florida location
This is a wonderful little park that is a hidden gem especially for sunsets. It is better if you bring your own chair. Free admission, walk in the mangroves, fish from the warf, picnic, and wonderful sunsets.
Great spot to hang, watch sunset.
We have visited this park multiple times. Donate to go in reasonable amount, see lot of animals (mostly bird species), so glad they are being rescued. Buy souvenirs. Walked the bridge walk. Took pictures of beach and river. Worth the trip.
This place is great. Here are a few photos of the bird sanctuary thats located on the grounds. The bird sanctuary is a place for injured or rescued indigenous beautiful creatures from the Florida area. The star of the show is Luna, the white owl, everything in the gift shop has Luna on it somewhere, she was born all white which is not the natural color of this breed of owl, so shes kind of a big deal for such a tiny little bird. The sanctuary itself is very small, but the work they do is amazing, and the varied array of gorgeous wildlife there make it a definite go to spot if youre in the area. The Ponce De Leon Park is right on the beach and has statues of Ponce scattered about along with picnic tables and a small playground for children. Oh, and theres a hot dog cart there too. Great place to go and watch the sunset and get some good nature energy in the process.
This is a beautiful park right on the west end of Punta Gorda. It has a waterway thru the mangroves and a small beach, with bathroom facilities. You can wade out into the water, like the fisherman in the pic below. Its a nice approximately 3 mile hike or bike ride from Fishermans Village. Its a little crowded during the season.
Beautiful place to watch the Sunset
Great place to watch the Sunset, boats and dolphins in the harbor also the Peace River Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center is located there they have tours during the week for a donation. Another fun thing to do is take a walk on the boardwalk through the mangroves and if you are there at the right time youll see fellows with a long tickle stick and a net trying to catch Tree Crabs for bait its really entertaining!!!
Great for sunsets. Bring your own drinks and view.
Very nice but no swimming!
My wife and i came here regularly. It is our favorite park in the area. Great water views and loads of wildlife. This is a good place for bird watching or catching a sunset. Theres a trail at the edge of the beach that leads back into the mangroves. Its worth exploring.
Outstanding place to go Kayaking! There are Mangrove Tunnels that are just breathtaking! Youll need to find a map of the route in a kayak guide book since the trails are not obvious at all. But once youre in the tunnels, youll be glad you went! I do suggest you use a short paddle though ... mines rather long and kept getting caught in the mangroves!
Amazing park! Bird sanctuary close by too!!
A very nice place to just relax and watch the waves
Nice small park, small playground, boardwalk trail, haborside view. No swimming available. Peace River Wildlife Refuge onsite.
Great park. Stopped here on the way to Nokomis.
It is a beautiful small park only the bird wildlife requires appointment that I was unaware of
Wonderful clean park.
Always clean! Beautiful view of the gulf. An amazing bird Sanctuary that is a must see for everyone. They really need to make a fishing pier and not allow fishing near boat launch, to many issues.
So beautiful!!! Ive been wanting to go to catch the sunset and it did not disappoint.
Very nice park and bird sanctuary on the Charlotte Harbor.
We LOVE to go to Ponce Park whenever we visit our relatives in Punta Gorda! Spacious play area with ample parking. So thankful for the clean bathrooms, too! With our now 8, 5, and 3-year olds, we spent most of the afternoon playing and weren’t bored for a second! :)
Lots of wildlife opportunities. Man made beach. But we hung out in the mangrove. Boat launch, bird sanctuary, fishing, public restrooms and a hot dog vendor.
Love watching the sunset here.
Great place to relax and enjoy nature. Be sure to stop by the Peace River Wildlife Center while your there. Also several historical markers to see.
Love this quiet place!
Great beach especially on a windy day with more protection from the sea winds.
Great Fishing and beautiful scenery
This is an historic memorial place, it is a beautiful place, it is quiet and afable, you can se the river and the sea together it is really nice there is also a small playground for kids you can spend a very good time there. The beach down there is not good enough but you can enjoy of good sunsets at that place.
They are a volunteer and donations only facility. Its amazing how they care for these animals. Staff is very friendly. We got to see up close Bella. She was amazing. Great job
Amazing place for a beautiful sunset.
A nice little park. Small playground and walking paths. The beach is nice and parking is plentiful. Awesome place to catch some beautiful sunsets.Theres no charge to go to this park.
Best site for a sunset photograph in Punta Gorda.
Loved it. Beautiful place and the people at the animal rescue are fantastic
Best place in PG to watch the sunset. It also has a boardwalk through the mangroves leading to the river. Play structure, bbq grills and a covered pavillion.
We love this park. We walk through the bird rescue the beach and the boardwalk. Great place to sit on a bench and look over the water.
Nice beach. Bathroom facilities. Not as big as some other parks but its nice that its not as crowded.
My husband and I enjoy kayaking and someone recommended this as a good spot. We came down at 7am to beat the heat. The water was calm and cool, no wind to speak of. There were very few boats out that early, which made it all the better. We will definitely come back. Next time we hope to explore more of what the park has to offer. We were in the water the whole time!!!
A nice quiet park to enjoy the Gulf Coast at. There is a small trail, fishing pier, boat ramp, and beach access.
Beautiful little Park on the water
I Love this park. Was very beautiful to view the gulf of Mexico Waters
Sandy area (not a beach) is dirty. Good place to find driftwood. Nice playground for kiddies. Lots of parking. Boat ramp has lots of parking.
Beautiful walking trails. Enjoy going to see the birds. Just a great place to go too anytime.
Good service and good food
Beautiful place to go with your family and friends. Brings back memories my mom got married there that is a special place for me
Great for fishing, and watching the beautiful Florida sunsets. Hot dog cart in seasonPretty good dogs
Loved this location, its hidden away behind neighborhoods and large tourist condos. You drive through a mangrove forest to reach the little park. It has a small beautiful beach and a free boat ramp where you can launch from. Pavilions and benches are found throughout the park as well. There are little informative boards throughout which give good/interesting information and facts. It has the best view in town of sunsets!
Never a bad day of fishing here.. Caught my first fish at 5 and that was 25 years ago... Always a blast
Nice walking path by the river...some shade spots to stretch. Water fountain available. Ample parking, I thoroughly enjoyed this walk.
Great place with a great mission and a beautiful group of people handling their mission..
Great place to watch the sunset.
Quiet, tucked away smaller park. Seems to be mostly used for boat launch. However, this place has a small kiddie park, a few picnic tables and a small pavilion if youd like to rent it. The pavilion overlooks the water. It has a small seawall you could sit on, to wet the toes. Restrooms are a bit outdated. But gets the job done. This park CLOSES AT 6PM...... Im assuming, due to going through a neighborhood. Not a lot of parking. Also, it shares parking with the small preserve next door. Mostly birds and tortoise. Very small, but nice.
Love stopping by to see my favorite birds, grabbing a Coney from the stand, and checking out the view!
Awesome bird watching, great mangrove trails and awesome Sheepshead fishing. Picnic area as well. This is a Gem in the heart of Punta Gorda Florida.
A favorite place to go for a calming enjoyable day at the animal sanctuary. I hope they can find another home closer to me
Enjoyed hiking here with my grandson and husband. Great little park for kids to play but I think he enjoyed the wooden boardwalk more
Beautiful sunset. Brian had a great time swimming. A few rude people, left their trash everywhere and Im sure they didnt have their fishing license.. Still a great place for us.
Loved his small park. Looks like a great fishing spot. Enjoyed my walk in the mangroves.
