Sat in the shade 6 feet away from family members so we havent seen in quite a while brought our own food had our own little picnics cleaned up our own mess and enjoyed ourselves there... Its very pretty very open and a very busy place we had plenty of room though...

Beautiful views of the Peace River nice quiet place to relax or play. The grounds are kept beautifully and a really nice walkway along the water. Great for a jog or a walk. On the flip side bring a book listen to music and just relax. A nice park to get away from it all

Beautiful views of the harbor. Perfect for watching the sunset. Most evenings there are people playing music. Even the playground is new.

The section that is not under construction is beautiful! Waterfront view, very friendly locals, live local bands a couple evenings a week, local ministries come and give lunch for free a couple of times a week.

Absolutely gorgeous views! Normally its a geat place to take grandchildren for walks, and the playground is safe and fun. Good to see the community getting out again, and most were social distancing. Groups for both presidential candidates were rallying supporters, with the excitement of voting season carried by the cool autumn breeze. One Trump supporter was blasting derogatory nasty terms from a bullhorn, and complained that Fishermens Village had kicked him out. Im a firm believer in Freedom of Speech, but that kind of language was not appropriate for a family setting!

Very nice. Usually a nice breeze off the water. Great place to bring the little ones or go for a walk or just enjoy the views on the water.

Beautifully kept up park with wonderful water views and a large walkway that has walkers, dogs on leashes and bicycle riders and theres plenty of room for all!

The City of Punta Gorda single handedly saved my wedding by allowing us to do the ceremony AND reception in Gilchrist Park. The people who I dealt with are wonderful and really cared about my event! The park will be a perfect backdrop for a wonderful day!

So peaceful the scenery is breath taking and calming picnic table and grill are all around the park. surely not a place to miss.

Nice little neighborhood park. Great for evening walks to watch the sunset. Has a fountain to sit by, tennis courts, playground and beautiful scenery to take in nature.

This is a beautiful area. Its very clean, has beautiful views, and is perfect for a picnic lunch.

One of the few things we can still do right now is enjoy the sunset. There is plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the peaceful end to the day. As the sun disappears, you can hear some of the people clap and cheer to another day in paradise. Thank you God.

Awesome playground and park to have a birthday party. Or just sit and watch the kids play. Clean bathrooms and water fountain.

My family and I enjoy coming here in the evening time to watch the sunset. Is beautiful and peaceful. Lots of friendly people walking around with their doggies no big deal. A great place to have a picnic, the kids play ground is clean and so are the restrooms.

Nice park when you’re on a bike, wouldn’t recommend walking at sunset/dusk unless you have a quick way of getting out. Many homeless people have approached me with my dogs if I watch the sunset, definitely won’t come any time near dark.

Miss the picnic tables under the shade of trees. Picnic tables were only in pavilion.

Although it was a hot day, the shade in the pavilion and the river front made it a good place to get together with friends and maintain good social distancing.

Relaxing and peaceful

Beautiful place to walk along the waterfront or you can play Tennis / Pickleball and a beautiful playground for the children. All free. How can you beat that.

My little piece of paradise when theres not a holiday or big event happening downtown. The only drawback is having to park on the street. Unless you walk from a nearby parks lot. I prefer the quiet compared to various sound systems in the parking lots.

Super bummed the kids park was under construction but over all the park was very nice. It was well maintained and clean will definitely be back when the kids park is re opened. They are installing new play ground equipment that looks like tons of fun for the kiddos.

Great spot to relax and take a walk. Happy they are dog friendly now. There are picnic areas, bathrooms, benches and a playground. Love coming out here for walks.

This park is located along the Peace River. It is concrete paved pathways and bathrooms. There are several pickle ball courts and pavilions with tables and benches. For the children there is a fenced in playground.

I love this park. I have been coming here since 1975. I am so proud of the City of Punta Gorda for keeping it so well maintained.

Awesome place for FREE Tai Chi in the park every Saturday, rain or shine at 9:30. Fun place for kids to run and walk your four leggers. Nice new restrooms too.

Went to the park for Pokemon Go!. There are several Pokestops and a gym. People were very friendly, lots of dogs. The park is beautiful. Great view of Charlotte Harbor. There were alot of see sailboats out and about on the river. Definitely recommended for a relaxing and quiet park experience.

Peaceful and relaxing park with clean restrooms, pier, views galore, childrens park (fenced), tennis, pickleball and placing to BBQ. It is truly enjoyable and never over populated. I highly suggest visiting if you live or visit Charlotte County, FL.

Great place to bring your kids and just about anyone, I go to the skate park there but they also have baseball and softball fields a bmx track like I said a skate park bathrooms and water fountains on site. Recommend for all ages .

Gave me such a sense of nostalgia. I used to live in Port Charlotte up until 2013. Gilchrist has changed but is still beautiful and the big oak tree in the middle is still standing strong!

Very nice park in Punta Gorda that features a brand new kids playground plus Pickel Ball courts, tennis courts and a beautiful walk along Charlotte Harbor. Its only about one block from Fishermans Village. Its a fun place to watch the sea birds also.

Great park with kids area, relaxing place to watch the sun come and go over the water. Pickle ball courts, basketball courts, swings and more. Need a place to get away for a hour or two, hit up this park.

They’ve made this park look great! Perfect for a day at the park with our daughter, we’ve gone to birthday parties there and we’ve even had family picnics here as well. Plus the beautiful view of the Harbor.

Nice statues of Ponce de Leon. Good scenery and wildlife viewing. Good parking and nice Florida architecture of houses on the way. There is a nice shelter for shade and a wildlife sanctuary.

We paid well and n advance for a pavilion to celebrate our Sons 5th birthday party when we arrived there the pavilion was full it wasnt a vet good experience and the only advice that we were given was to call the Sheffif. I think that that is a little extreme and that there should be some one who handles those matters any time an event has been pre booked

Great place to relax and walk. If you are disabled the walk ways are wide. Very pet friendly and has a pier to fish from.

This used to be an extraordinary park and pickleball venue. The City of Punta Gorda has screwed this up by allowing a couple of park neighbors to shut down courts that were enjoyed by hundreds. The City is also allowing the pickleball courts and tennis court to fall into disrepair by failing to maintain the facilities.
