This was a great wildlife rescue/rehabilitation center! Even the birds think so... One of the egrets they helped rehabilitate and was released still comes back to visit on its own! The staff was very friendly and informative. They clearly care about the animals here. I would definitely recommend the visit and supporting them if you can!

All the animals seem to be calm and not pacing which indicates to me these animals are loved and properly taken care of

Wonderful small rescue and rehab facility that runs on donations. We did a tour today. Our group of five was informed and entertained by stories and antics of the animals there. Some of the residents/guests there included bald eagles, many owls, herons, pelicans and even an opossum. Great experience for adults and children!

Ive been wanting to visit here for years after seeing a booth for them (compete with owls!!) at the Fishermans Village. We finally had a chance to stop by today. It is a small center but they have a nice variety of species to see. But of course my favorites were the owls!! So many adorable owls. We even got a few hoots from one of the Barred Owls. The pelicans were definitely the most active, their area being open for them to fly in and out as they pleased. The area was a little crowded, even for a Monday, but we were able to stop and see everything and get some fun pictures. I heard one of the volunteers saying the center is expanding to a new, larger, location in the coming years so that will be fun to visit again and see how they expand!

The Peace River Wildlife Center is a small wildlife center located in Punta Gorda and it’s such a nice center. There are so many different birds that have been rescued and call Peace River home and all of the animals that are there appear to be very well cared for. It’s also very clean and it’s a wonderful environment for the animals. All of the enclosures are more than adequate size for the inhabitants, which is encouraging to see.The staff and volunteers there are also incredibly friendly and informative and pride themselves on educating the visitors about the animals as much as possible. Luna, the white screech owl is an adorable ambassador for the center and she is a must see!!!! She truly is adorable!!Overall, I would highly recommend others to visit the center and enjoy the beauty of the birds and other animals there. Afterwards you can also enjoy the beauty of the park as the views are breathtaking!!

Came out to Punta Gorda with my friend, and he showed me this little building tucked away in Ponce De Leon Park. Awesome job these people do rehabbing the wildlife and giving them a second chance. The birds looked well taken care of, and we got to see the Pelicans get fed at 2:30 (was told thats the time they are fed each day). What a cool experience. Bring cash to donate to these wonderful people.During the Pelican feeding, the staff member was very knowledgeable and taught us some fun things we didnt know about before.During the demonstration, a Great Egret came over and perched itself on the fence about 3 feet away as if it was a guest watching the Pelican demo. Made for a great photo op.

This is a hidden gem in Punta Gorda. The center houses permanently disabled wildlife, and nurses injured wild animals until they can be released back to the wild. There are. Many birds in cages here. Bald Eagles, crows, Herons etc. The largest number is Pelicans. Most injured by fishing tackle. They feed them every afternoon, a site to watch! The facility will be moving shortly to a larger structure, giving the birds larger cages.

I have been to this place many times. Every time I go I learned a bit more about these beautiful birds. My mom has given donations of different food products and cleaning products they will always accept them. Just give them a little call and they have a sheet of paper that tells you what things they can accept for donations . They even have a gift shop on premises the shirts are very reasonably priced I recommend visiting it. They also do educational things with the owl Luna. They live on donations so if you visit feel generous to give them a little bit of money.
