This is definitely a cool little Park to visit if you just want to get some nice little day hiking in. I believe the trails are around 6 to 7 Miles and total so its not too bad to get it done. There is some water that you have to wade through but not too deep. When we visited the water came just above my ankles in some areas of the park. In some sections of the trails the grass has grown up and over and that was the only thing that had me concerned walking through the water in those areas just because of snakes. The only snake we encountered in our entire walk was a black racer.
Nice area with well marked trails, gift shop (closed now) with restrooms. The trails are diverse but very muddy. Would be better in the drier months. They even have a screened room with picnic tables.
Nice little preserve. Trails seem to be marked well.Very muddy, so just be aware that you’re walking through tall grass and muddy trails. Also wear bug spray. We just did a quick 1 mile hike around the Eagle trail and I was eaten alive by mosquitos. This was an unplanned stop for us so I didn’t bring bug spray or anything. Saw no alligators, but we were also hustling through and didn’t want to stop to try to spot any either do to the blood-suckers making us their mid-afternoon snack. Did see a couple small lizards, one little crab and a big turtle though.
The trails were difficult and under water. They are not kept up. The nature is beautiful, the trails are clearly marked. The park should post a sign indicating the trails are under water. Too dangerous to walk through.
Very nice place has many different amazing trails the the kids love to learn and read every sign in the beginning there is a cute bird blind building where you can write down what animals you seen and also throw food out to attract animals. Each trail is a little over a mile long. Animals are allowed as well. Can’t wait to go back
Nice place to walk. Lots of trails. Dont go after a storm because unfortunately it does flood quite a bit. I dont have very good luck, so every time Ive gone to find alligators I havent seen even 1.
Great area to hike and not too far of a drive from Fort Myers. Stopped off at Ranger station and got some great information and headed out hiking. Some shade some areas out in the sun, just bring water and wear sunscreen. Did a few paths and will go back again to do more. Some areas are muddy and wet, you may have to wade through some water, but not too bad. Love nature and glad county is preserving more land, especially around the important mangroves.
Just had a really good time
Nature preserve with good trails for any ability level. Nice little museum. Big gator showed himself in the gator pond. Clean restrooms.
The joy of the quiet. The opportunity to reflect. The chance to learn how population increase threatens our natural wild wetlands of Florida.
Great nature walk on a beautiful day. Staff were friendly and helpful. Well definitely visit again.
Cool place, but mosquitoes are tough. Bring 4.% DEET
It was fairly quiet and peaceful. Some traffic noise. Not a lot of wildlife but it wAs a cool day. Had a nice walk
Nice shadu place to eat your lunch
Kinda creepy snakes everywhere. Bugs bugs bugs. Closed gates a lot.. Better trails to hike around
Fantastic trails. saw big alligators and other wildlife! come early in the AM
Closed visitor center in summer off season. But we will be back. Really cool building overlooking a small pond. Nice trail updates on chalkboard by parking lot warning of flooding and bugs. Also listed activities at other parks in the area that are affiliated.
Nice long walks. Did not see any wildlife though. Bring bug spray
Beautiful private (non profit) environmental center. A lot of gorgeous hiking trails and a great place to bring kids. A great place to learn about wildlife and have a picnic in all the beautiful shady areas. The wildlife here is abundant and all together a great and fun experience. Could also be a beautiful place to take a hike and go on a date.
Seems like a peaceful place for a hike. I was just passing by and stopped in to look around. If you like nature, youll like the place.
A great time exploring through the woods on trails. Very nice
Dry season is the best. Mud can be a problem. Other than that, it was an awesome place to hike. Alot of trails
Great place for a peacefull walk through the hamock. Trails can be muddy at times.
Lots of walkikg trails, native species cam be seen, very peaceful.
The park has a lot of good hiking trails. We found the gate locked when we arrived on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The sign states that the park should have been open. This made it hard to park cars, as the parking lot is inside the gate. We also saw very little wildlife. There were several species of exotic invasive plants that were growing through out the park.
A hidden gem in what is becoming the Burnt Store/ South Charlotte Co./Babcock development area. CHEC and the Yucca Pen need to be protected in perpetuity, not just for the unique ecosystem, but also as a mangrove/wetland buffer for tropical storms. Truth be told, trails are flooded in the wet season.
Very nice informative center. Beautiful bird blind with binoculars and identification books. Environmental center has good things for kids to see and do. Two American alligators in the pond.
Live this place, specially when I go with my dogs. They get so happy.
Really good fish great service very reasonable priced
Great place to go for a walk. Weve seen some kind of critter or other every time weve been there and weve gone a lot recently. I would have given it 5 stars if the center was open outside of business hours so people that work for a living could enjoy it also. Oh one other thing. During rain season the trails are very wet. No one can help that, its nature but just be prepared. I would recommend it for nature lovers and families alike.
Best place to find shark teeth!
Beautiful place to see eagles, hawks, alligators, etc. The trails are great!
Pretty park. Very quiet and calm.
Great place too explore dont go alone though 2 to 3 people in the group is ideal lots of wild animals encountered...Especially wild boar very territorial
Excellent place for a hike, nature walk or environmental learning experience. Enjoy the quaint gift shop with many nature related souvenirs. A wonderful time for families and children to learn about the amazing ecosystem of Charlotte Harbor.
Quiet & peaceful. Good hiking trails. Birding ok but not great.
It was closed even though the hours said that they should have been open.
Amazing wildlife preserve with lots of well groomed trails. The volunteers at the office are extremely nice and informative. You will see, fish, a variety of local birds and lots of wild gators. Lots fun for all ages.
Nice place with easy trails to walk
Love this place! Enough trails to keep u busy and not bored! Plenty of wildlife from birds to gators turtles and tortoises!
We love this place! The trails are well groomed and mostly shaded so its a very lovely walk.
Went kayaking with a good friend, was very fun. Bring an extra pair of shoes though!
Well maintained trails, slightly wet in the summer but thats what rain boots were made for. Lots of nature photo opportunities. I hike c.h.e.c almost every Sunday. Love it!
Nature at its best.
Nice place to go hiking
A beautiful visitors center. Well marked natural paths to hike. Take time to imagine what early Florida settlers and native inhabitants might have experienced.
Plant identification walk with Bill Dunston was lots of fun. His knowledge of the native vs exotic vs invasive plants, their uses & safety was expansive!!!

Visited today just to check it out. The attendant, Cindi was a real credit to the Center. We will definitely be back to hike the trails and attend the activities.
Not really sure where the gators are at though.
Great place for the kids and grands to learn more about the flora and fauna of Florida. A visitors must, and a good idea for locals too!
Nice little nature center with hiking trails
Great place.
Lovely natural area with many trails to hike.
Not walkable after heavy rain
Wild old Florida...bring mosquito repellant...stay away from the gators
The parking lot is tiny. After circling for 5 times looking for a space when someone left, we gave up and left.
There are 2 reserve locations check their website for locations. Both have excellent trails and free guided tours twice a week.
Educational, lovely, staff excellent. A must see.
