Yesterday was my first time at the soap factory and I loved the concept and the place! Very affordable and cheap for the experience you get and perfect for college students (or anyone!). You get to pick the mold, essential oils, mix ins (such as sugar, turmeric, Himalayan salt, etc) that create your soap, you mix it yourself and also have the option to paint it. I love the details of this place, such as the cute chalk board where right now you can write your favorite thing about fall, and they showcase and sell art from local artists which is awesome! The staff are very nice as well. The whole experience takes about an hour depending on how busy it is.

This was a fabulous date, everything was almost right. Though when it got busy and there was only one person working trying to help 50 people. They charge you $5 for workspace and then a price/gram of soap you take and extra for exotic stuff. So much fun!!!

My daughter and I loved making soap here on a mommy daughter date! She wanted to make a ton of them, told her we could only do one and she insists we keep going back. This place is a great date Idea!

My daughter wanted to do this for her activity with mom. The girl there did a great job of explaining the process. We picked out the mold, sent, scrub, and color. It kept the attention of my ADHD child. Her favorite part was painting the design on top of her soap. I chose coconut and it smells great! She wants to go back again.

Definitely not as hyped as I’ve heard. We went in and had no clue what to do. We just started looking around. 15 min later someone asked us if we had been helped. Then left us for another 30 min. The oils that they had were really random and didn’t smell that good.It was worth one try but won’t go back.

I probably walked by the door 4 times before I figured out how to get in there. It is tucked behind a wall right next to the neighboring restaurants door. This is great for friend dates, romantic dates, or just a do it yourself day. Its not too pricey, and they walk you through everything.

The shop looks nothing like what is pictures, I found that very deceptive. Had no idea theres a huge flight of stairs to get to the shop, and I brought a baby in a stroller. So I had to collapse the stroller and carry it up like 40 stairs. How would someone with a wheelchair access this place? Speaking of access, this place is incredibly small and cramped. The space is not thought-out at all. It was quite full as the night went on and you have to climb over tables, chairs and people to get to the paints, oils, etc. Nothing was explained to us, youre just supposed to read the card on the table for how to do it. The two girls (who were like, 12 years old) working were running around with their heads cut off. It was very understaffed and poorly executed. My biggest gripe, the ice bath that we were told would only take 10 minutes, took 40. Im pretty sure they got busy and forgot about us. I am still mad I had to pay full price for it all when it was so poorly executed. If I went to a restaurant that took forever to bring my food, something would have been done to try to make it better; nothing was offered here. I would never go back. Also, they have a community sink where you can wash your hands, with one hand towel that was sopping wet and disgusting that they never changed out. No napkins, no way to clean yourself up at your workplace, it was disgusting. Its a cool idea to make your own soap, but the experience here was not a good one. With the studio fee + price per gram, it adds up and you shell out a lot of money for not a good time. Save your money and skip this place. Would not recommend.

The inside looks nothing like the pictures its pretty run down. We had fun making the soap but the lady working was chomping her gum the entire time she talked to us. Not just chewing but full on chomping. We had never made soap before and didnt get much directions or helpful tips on how to make soap that actually looks decent for the price. It was fun but i dont think i would go back.

This is a cute crafts/activity shop. The process is as follows:1. You enter the shop, pick out the molds you want for your soap2. Pick out the scent(s) you want included in your soap3. Walk to the back area with tables (the worker will have set up a table for you) and pick out any mix-ins you want and the colors you want for your soap4. The employee will bring out the melted soap5. you pour the soap into your mold, add the mix-ins, color, and scent6. Stir the soap to mix it all thoroughly7. The worker will take your soap back to soak it in an ice bath8. The worker will bring the soap back out and you can paint it if you wish9. The worker will spray a sealant on your soap to help the paint stick and once that dries, you can pay and leave.Overall thoughts:- The Soap Factory is a misleading name for this shop. Its more of a Soap Craft Shop.- The soap itself can be kind of expensive. The cost of participating is $5 a person to enter plus the cost of soap ($0.05 per oz). If you take someone on a date and you both make a medium/large soap each, you should expect to pay around $20 for it all.- I was surprised to find that the most fun part of the entire experience was actually painting the soap after finishing it. Definitely take that into consideration when choosing your soap mold because if you get one that wont require much paint, it might not be as fun for you.All in all, this is a really cute shop thats definitely worth a visit!

I loved that there were so many different soap molds and paint colors to choose from and it was nice to see a bunch of different soaps that were already made and painted to get ideas.I was disappointed with the oils because even though there were tons of oils to choose from, my friend and I agreed that the scents did not smell good. The girl working at the time wasn’t very informative and disappeared into the back room for long periods of time. Other customers would ask us for help because they thought we worked there since we were already making soaps when they walked in and there was no one else there to greet them or explain what to do. Once we were finished we had to wait 20 minutes for the employee to come out of the back room since there’s a sign that says only employees are allowed back and when she finally came out she had us dry our bars of soap by the fan and disappeared into the back room again so that was kind of frustrating. It was also very quiet so it was a little awkward to involuntarily listen in on other people’s conversations. I would just recommend that they have music playing in the background since the tables are all so close together. Overall it was a fun experience but there’s tons of ways it can be improved.

Great place! Improvements needed. We love coming and creating here, but there are staff issues. We have gone when we were the only ones in the store and it still took us almost 2 hours because the single employee there kept disappearing into a back room and we never seemed to be able to find her when we needed her. We tried to go again today (a holiday) and one poor girl was running around like a chicken with her head cut off trying to help everyone. 20 minutes after greeting us with, Ill be right with you, we left. She was still trying to help the rest of the crowd and still hadnt gotten back to us. We ran into 2 other parties shortly thereafter that had done the same thing. It would be really helpful if the management could provide some extra staff on busy days, and perhaps instruct their employees to stay available/accesible on days when it is less busy. Their essential oils also do not smell that great... Other brands are more more pleasant smelling (even budget brands). I am considering just bringing my own oils next time... when I can spare a few hours to make another attempt.

Such a unique and fun experience! The staff is friendly, explain well, and are helpful. There are plenty of options for fun for all ages! Several molds to choose from. The not so good- some of the scented oils don’t smell great or are empty. Also, the die settles and it doesn’t color the soap.

Our company, North Eastern Services, works with special needs adults and likes to find activities within the area for the individuals to have the opportunity to experience being out in the community. We had scheduled a time to go previously and when we showed no one was there. The Soap Factory called and rescheduled with us and even covered our lab fees. It was a great experience and all of our individuals loved making soap. However, we were told there would be more than just the one staff and there was not, making it hard with the minimal help.

Very expensive for what you get. I understand that they have to charge for what they clean up, but we paid $30 for 3 of us to walk away with less than 2 handfuls of soaps. They also took quite a while to help us. It was a fun activity, but not worth the money to me.

This was a really fun place! My son and I were in the area looking for something new and fun to do so we gave this a try. Parking at the location is tricky, but otherwise it was pretty easy to find.It was really fun. My biggest complaint is we created some great soaps that we dont ever want to use because theyre too pretty! Prepare to spend some time here though, youve got to wait for the soap molds to setup. We werent in a hurry so it wasnt a big deal. Friendly staff. Fun new thing to try.

Went during the Farmers Market, they wanted us to pay an extra 25% to bear the loss incurred during the market. They claimed they lost business during the market because the city closed that street down. Absolutely ridiculous. There are literally hundreds of people walking passed the store during the market, if they lose business its because they dont put forth the effort to bring customers in, and instead decide to Jack up their prices to gouge the few that decide to stop by. In order to avoid having to pay extra, the owner wants the customers to call the market organizers and harass them into paying the Soap Factory extra during the market season. Completely unethical, in my opinion. We took our business elsewhere, and Id suggest anyone else do the same. Support local business, unless they are greedy, lazy, crooked businesses.

This was a fun and an unique activity. Great thing to do for a date that was interactive, affordable, creative and relaxing. We will would do it again. Saw all the great reviews and was really let down when I went to try it for myself. They had one staff member and the staff has to walk you through each step. Well it was extremely busy and this staff member was rarely available to help. She seemed extremely irritated and too overwhelmed whenever we would ask a question so we spent most of our time just sitting there waiting around for her to help us. Also the soap is not good quality and despite us following all the steps, our paint comes off all over our hands when we try and use it. Save yourself the time and money and don’t go here.

Absolutely stellar experience. Be prepared to spend at least half an hour making your soap. The more soap you want to make the more time youll need, which makes this the perfect conversational date. I recommend mixing eucalyptus with spearmint or lime.

I’ve been here twice and feel like it has gone down-hill as it has gotten more popular. The atmosphere is a bit off but the concept is so cute and for a much better price than something like “Color Me Mine”. However, our most recent visit had major staff issues. After waiting around awkwardly a customer told us how to get started. We then noticed many of the scents and colors were out, we had to go find someone to ask for the soap, and the at-table directs were a bit confusing at some places. Worst of all, when we were trying to check out we couldn’t find any staff. After waiting around awkwardly for almost 10 minutes, and with a line building behind us, my husband finally went into the “Employee Only” area to find an employee to help us. Cute concept but major staffing issues which really hurt our experience.

I was dragged here and didnt expect much. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Its a simple idea and the process is easy, but it is pretty fun and the staff is great. The price is high for just soap, but its worth it when you factor in the experience. This is a great activity for all ages.

Really fun activity for a group, lots of different molds to choose from. I paid for two people, two small soaps and two mini soaps and it came out to just under $15, so not the most economical thing, but relaxing and enjoyable. We enjoyed all the different scents and oils too. The staff were friendly, and it seemed pretty chill. If you’re bothered by strong smelling things you might come away with a headache.

Love, Love, LOVE this place. I couldve spent the entire day there. I went with my 13 year old daughter and my less than happy 12 year old son. Everyone including my son wanted to spend more time, if not for the wedding we were in Utah for we could have spent way more time. If were ever in the area again I would definitely go back . I recommended it to everyone we spoke with at said wedding and more than a few are very excited to try it. Thanks so much for the awesome day.

Loved it! Theres two options. You can pay a $5 flat fee to use all of their molds, scents, colors, textures, and paints, or theres a $2 option but they dont let you use every thing available in the shop. Its definitely worth the $5 studio fee, especially the first time. Both options have you weigh the soap that you make afterwards and pay a small fee per oz. I made two small soaps and it cost me an extra $1.50.David, the shop owner, is great! He knows tons about the oils that you out into the soap and even spent some time describing to us the separation process to make the oils. Its a perfect activity for a date or just with friends, and is relatively inexpensive for the experience that you get. Perfect location to go grab dinner afterwards or a good dessert.
