The CSI room at Escape Key was so fun! The puzzles were challenging and the room was super immersive! Our room guide, Clay, brought so much energy to the experience and did a great job of giving us clues only when we needed them! Cant wait to go back and try their other rooms!
We absolutely loved it! The escape room was so creative and interesting! We had a large group and it was sufficiently challenging for all of us to participate. Cant wait to go back!
The escape room was such a blast! We did the Lair of Lunacy and Clay was our escape room guide. He had such an outgoing personality and made the experience fun. We escaped with 8 minutes to spare making it first place on the board #thedecoders I recommend this place for a fun evening out. It was clean and professional.
We did this as a date night tonight! Chris and Jeremy were awesome! The infiltrated room was bomb sauce :) all puns intended! We had a great time and will definetely be back with friends. The clues and process through the room was clever and we felt engaged and like it was real. We are super excited to try the other 2 rooms and will have to come back soon! Thanks for the awesome time!See ya soon!
Great fun! I recommend the Soviet-themed room with 6-8 people. Made it out with only a minute to spare, but with fewer than average hints.
Super fun place, especially for people who have never done an escape room before! It might feel a little expensive going into it, but the price tag is understandable, considering the effort and detail they put into their rooms. We really enjoyed the teamwork that the puzzles required and the good balance of realism (enough to be creepy, but not enough to make you wet yourself or unable to continue). Definitely keep an eye out for coupons and discounts!
Good staff and had lots of fun! The room didnt make too much sense, but thats ok.
Great rooms and a passionate staff that do a well run room. We have been to over 20 escape rooms and these guys are a great small company that is on the rise.
This was my first escape room experience and it was so fun! My husband and I did this just the two of us and did the hardest room. We managed to escape with 2 minutes to spare. This was a great way to spend an evening together.
As it was designed, it was impossible to solve the mad scientist room without a few hints. The writing behind the puzzles didnt allow for a self-sustaining or autonomous experience. It was a lot of fun, but I hope they streamline it soon!
Really great! It was fun to solve a murder while trying to escape. It was a little tough in the lowlighting, but that was necessary for some pieces of the puzzle. The low light and one of the props scared my youngest kiddo, but not terribly. This escape room was a tougher difficulty than a previous one we did. That made it more fun for the adults and older kids, but my 2 youngest felt a little left out. It says the room can hold 8, but we had 6 and felt a little crowded. Overall I really had a good time and would go back. At first glance the cost scared me away, but I found a deal on Groupon that made it very affordable.
We had a lot of fun trying to figure out the clues for the Sherlock room. The staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous. Even with just two people, it was a lot of fun and I would do it again!
I brought my wife and 3 girls ages 15, 13, and 10 and we LOVED IT! We did the Lair of Lunacy and it was very entertaining and challenging. I was very pleasantly surprised and loved the creativity weaved into the experience. Staff were friendly and fun. The kids want to do it again asap!
Seriously so much fun!! Went with three other couples so there were 8 of us in the most difficult room. We made it out with 4 and a half minutes to spare. Great intro story, challenging clues, set up well, and nicely planned out. Liked it so much I sent my 5 kids to it a couple weeks later. A big hit for them also! Would recommend Escape Key to anyone looking for a fun activity.
The terrorist room was small and there was so much going on. I prefer rooms that lead to more rooms and not being in one spot the whole time.
Lots of fun. My kids really enjoyed themselves. We did the Lair of Lunacy. We finished it in about 40 minutes. I was told that it was their easiest room. They gave good clues throughout. They were helpful without ruining your experience. I enjoy a challenge but I dont enjoy something that is impossible to complete. We did another escape room at a different place and the room was fun but almost impossible to complete. The employers were nice also.
Great experience for the family. There were puzzles simple enough for kids around 8 years old and more complex puzzles for the adults. It was nice to have a room where all the puzzles were in working order and in excellent condition.JD introduced us to our esacpe room and scenario. He was the best host weve encountered at any escape room! Thank you!
My husband and I did the Lair of Lunacy together and had such a good time! Even though we were only 2 people, we were able to get out (with some hints ahha). Its well done, great clues and a fun atmosphere. GO!!
+1 For the size of rooms, they are smaller than some of the other escape rooms Ive been to that do groups of 10 people. This makes them more unique and different in a good way.+1 Theme: Detective Murder Case. It was a small room that I did with my girlfriend and I quite enjoyed it. Definitely one of my favorite escape room themes (even though I walked in thinking I was gonna hate it :/ haha)
This was a great experience - difficult enough to be challenging but still able to complete the challenge. The staff member who helped us was fantastic!
We had a great time here - its a pretty chill place, and the puzzles are challenging in a satisfying way. Definitely would recommend! Stop by if youre near Provo!
We had a blast here and will definitely be back! The guy who helped us was so great too and gave us a preview of the other rooms which was nice.
We had a group of six 14/15 years olds that did the Lair of Lunacy. They really enjoyed it! All of the teens participating said that they would want to do another escape room here. I did not participate but my interactions with the staff were GREAT! We would definitely recommend this place.
Did the Sherlocked room. Very fun!! Loved having the hints and timer on the screen instead of walkie-talkies, it made it so the flow wasnt interrupted. The music helped with the atmosphere without being overwhelming. It was my second time doing an escape room, and it was very enjoyable!
We did a fun escape room, The Lunacy Lair, with a group of 8 people. There were enough things to work on that we didnt have people sitting around, which was nice! Also, the staff was so nice and flexible when we realized that one of our group members had already done the room wed booked. Luckily, the other room wasnt reserved, so they were able to switch us last minute. Wed love to come back!
Thumbs up for all ages! It was fun, challenging, and engaging! CSI room was fabulous! Fun for the whole family! Even our 6 yr old enjoyed it! Definitely took all of us to figure it out!
So much fun! The people are so nice! We did the CSI Room, working together to find out the clues unlock things and make it out before time was a lot of fun for us. If you have a child that is afraid of their own shadow I wouldnt recommend taking them. Its not scary! Its about teamwork however they do have scary room and we will go back!
Fun little escape room, was a bit too challenging to do with two people, not sure if that changes throughout the year.
Our family of 6 had a blast! We did the Infiltrated room at the Salt Lake location and it was awesome. The employees were so friendly and totally added to the fun and excitement. Our boys are 9,11,13, and 15 and they loved it. We cant wait to go back and try another room!
Overall a pretty fun experience. The puzzles arent super easy to complete but the company still wants you to have a fun time. As you go through the escape room, they will give you hints as needed. I definitely want to go back and try one of the harder rooms.
We did infiltrated and had a blast. We loved the puzzles and the charts, and the story line. It was very fun and enjoyable.
Fun but for $25 a person... I will go to another one that is just as fun but less than half the price. Also, we solved their hardest room with 24 minutes to spare.
Loved it! Staff was super friendly and fun, and the Infiltrated room was challenging but still do able which we loved!
Excellent and fun adventure. Definitely worth trying out.
First time in an escape room. The family had so much fun.
Absolutely fantastic experience! Our group of seven was just the right size, and the infiltrated room was that perfect level of challenging, but not too challenging. Would definitely go back
We booked a The Lunatic Lair for 6 people and it was so fun! The staffer was super friendly and really got us into the rooms spirit of adventure. We started in a pitch black room and had to feel around for flashlights so we could then find clues/puzzles and a key to unlock the light switch. Such a unique start to a room that Ive never had before! I really enjoyed it here and will be back
Book ahead of time, and make sure your whole group shows up a bit early--its not worth the risk of being late and missing out! We had an excellent time with our group of seven, which was just the right size. Staff was friendly and clearly love what they do. Keep up the great work, I hope to see cool new rooms in time!
Lots of fun the two times weve gone.
Such a great idea. So much fun. I wish they had more rooms but I guess I need to do all of them before I can complain. The employees are nice and they worked with my schedule even! They are also working on making it more Deaf friendly. Definitely go.
This place was so fun and challenging. The clues were so well laid out and clever! I cant say more without giving it away! The staff are cheerful and friendly. I would do this again the next time Im in town. We had four in our group and that seemed perfect.
We came here with our kids and had a great time.
We did the cold war themed room and it was just short of great. One puzzle in particular was really clever, while a few others seemed a little vague. In the end we were able to escape, but it felt more like making an accusation in Clue without all of the information than a triumphant success. Im sill interested in going back to try more.
We had a group of 4 and did the CSI room! We had a great time! It was fun to figure out a the clues along with getting out of the room. The last escape room we did, we just had to find the hidden door so this kind of took it to another level! The staff was very kind and I would highly recommend this place to anyone!!
Sherlocked was awesome. Tough and fun.
Our family had a blast. We were traveling on a road trip throughout Utah and wanted a fun night out in Salt Lake City. This escape room didnt disappoint!
Managed to escape with only a few minutes to spare! The interactivity from the hosts, or captors, makes it the perfect level of difficulty.
Very fun way to spend an hour with family and friends! We enjoyed the CSI Provo room thoroughly and solved it with a whopping 55 seconds to spare. Will definitely be back for more fun!
This was my first time going to an escape room but it was awesome!! I loved it! They did a great job setting up the room and making it feel real, I definitely plan on going again!
We had such a fun time last night! We did the CSI Provo room, and it was a blast. 10/10 would recommend!!!
This was our first escape room attempt - we had a great time!
The staff was very friendly and worked around our schedule which was very nice! The price is very good. We did the infiltrated room (hardest one). It was well themed and had some clever puzzles in it. However there were also a few things that really detracted from the experience. First the pre room briefing was short and did not offer enough information to the people who had never done an escape room before. Second, there were some clues given for things we already did which slowed us down. Third, We were unable to escape the room and when the remaining clues were explained to us, it didnt match what we had found in the room. I left feeling confused.
My three friends and I had such a good time! The room was tricky enough without being completely impossible. There were some great surprises, and the staff was really kind. The venue itself is in an old office building, but it was really nicely decorated. (I thought the puzzles in the waiting room were a nice touch). I will definitely be going back, and I look forward to when they open more rooms!
So fun! great staff! highly recommended
Very fun way to spend some family time, or a date night.
I took my four young daughters ages 10, 8, 6, & 3 and they had the best time figuring out the clues together. I let the worker know that we wanted lots of clues along the way and it was a great experience. Right when we first walked into The Escape Key everyone was super friendly! I highly recommend taking your family!
It was an excellent experience. Well thought out and clever. It was great that they had an advisor watching us remotely and giving us needed hints along the way. We loved it!
Ah! So much fun! I love this place because it was great for my smaller group. The puzzles were fun and unique, and our group was engaged the entire time. It was a bit spooky so that added another dynamic to the fun. Highly recommend this place for late night shenanigans in Provo but I also think they are pretty flexible with scheduling things throughout the day. Thanks so much for a fun time!
This was a blast! We were a group of 4 and finished their hardest game with 10 minutes to spare! I would definitely recommend this to anyone. The staff was awesome and friendly. Definitely worth the money.
Super fun for all ages. A great afternoon of mystery and detective work.
My family and I had a great time at the Escape Key! We did the Sherlock room and were really impressed with how intricate it was. I would definitely recommend to any friends that were interested.
Oh my gosh! My kids and I had a blast! We did the Sherlock Holmes and as soon as we were done with that room we did Russian Roulette. The customer service was friendly courteous and accommodating. Kudos to the escape key team.Amazing experience. Well worth it.
This was a blast, we did the Lair of Lunacy. They told us it was the more easy than the other rooms. It was still very challenging. We had 8 people And all had a really good time! We finished the room with the help of a couple carefully worded clues from out host through the T.V. mmonitor.Even with the room at capay with 8 people there was still much to do if you worked as a team.
Our experience was a little rough at the beginning. The place was locked when we arrived, and were had to call them to come open up. They lost our booking and it took them a while to find it before were could get started. Once we started, though, the room was fantastic. The puzzles are challenging and engaging, we never felt stuck or that we were breezing through, and there were a few particularly satisfying moments when we solved an especially difficult puzzle. Overall, it was a positive experience, but the customer service left something to be desired.
Very fun and challenging! And if you go on the right nights you can find some good discounts! I would go again
We really enjoyed this in our group of 6! Lair of Lunacy was the one we did and made it hard to keep my wits about me at times. Puzzles were clever too! We got stumped a bit at times and got hints - grateful for them, but it wouldve been nice to try to figure things out a bit more at times before getting a hint. Great experience in and out of the room!
The CIA room is so fun! We only had two people but we did pretty good. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who’s even thinking about coming here. Thanks for an awesome experience guys!
So much fun! A group of 8 of us went to the mad scientist room. Very welcoming staff with a comfortable waiting room. The escape room itself was incredible. Great ambience that allowed you to get lost in what you were doing. Puzzles were challenging but not impossible. Our group finished with 6 seconds to spare! Perfect date or family activity! I highly recommend it!
Our entire family of 6 tried the Escape Key tonight and it was our first escape room experience. We had SO much fun! It was hard enough to be challenging but clues were given to help us eventually solve the puzzles. It was a great bonding activity for our family! We will definitely try one again in the future!
This was a perfect activity for our night out! The room was exciting and difficult enough to make it a challenge but not so hard that it was frustrating. We enjoyed our time and would definitely go back again to experience another room! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful! And I loved the photo opportunity at the end. All around great experience at Escape Key!
The best escape room we have been to. There were just 4 of us and we had so much fun. Harder than the mobile escape rooms we had been to. We loved it.
We had so much fun! Loved the theme of the room and the awesome variety of clues. We really enjoyed solving all the puzzles and figuring out how everything worked. Great experience!
Loved the experience. This is in the upstairs of an older office building across from the 7-11 on University ave and by the library. Great location. They have converted multiple offices into escape rooms. I think they have 3 available. We did the CSI one. I really liked it as did my wife. Weve done 5 now and have gotten out of all them except one that they misdirected us on because our group was getting out way too fast according to the facilitator... We also had done the Alcatraz Chernobyl room in Lindon earlier today. This was way better. The clues were engaging. The process and tools used to find clues and solve puzzles was new to us and done in a way that continually engaged us. They use a TV with text prompts which was great. The beginning went too fast. I had a hard time reading all the words before the screen switched to new text. I loved the use of cell phones in the room however its not clear that you can AND SHOULD use them in this room. In the end, I found it clever and well priced. They even started us out at 10pm on a Wednesday when most other places are already closed. Well be back for the other two rooms. Well bring friends too :DUpdate:We went back and did the Infiltrated room with two of our friends. We had a group 4 in total. This is one of the best escape rooms weve ever done. The clues were great. The logic required was great. They have some fantastic new ideas for how to give you more information. Again, I love the use of the TV to deliver news/notes/hints as needed because communication over speakers is often a terrible experience unless it is part of the experience and bad audio is on purpose. Seriously, one of the most creatively done rooms I have ever seen and they followed the story line that created which was awesome. I thought they invested a good amount of money and time into the props, puzzles, and feel of that room. Weve done 2 rooms in Mystery Escape, 1 in Get out games, 1 in Alcatraz and 2 in Escape key and this one was the best. I would recommend 3-4 people for this room if you have solid players. 4 helped us but sometimes (rarely) we got in each others way. I cant imagine doing this with more than 4 unless someone literally just sat for most of it. This is a must complete room for escape room lovers. Well be back soon to complete the Lair of Lunacy room.(As a side note to the owners, please make sure your team cleans the room and resets all clues properly. We would have fully completed the room and not only escaped but completed all objectives if someone had not written something on one of the clues that confused us. Our fault for taking it as truth really, but it threw off the room for us in finding the solution.)
Just the right amount of difficulty once in the room (we were in the scientist room). It was kind of hard to find the right place (they are not well advertised from the street) but that somehow adds to the experience. It was challenging, fun and a perfect activity for a Friday night.(Be prepared to wait 15 min. before entering your escape room. They need time to set up).
This was one of the best escape rooms ive ever done! The staff was friendly and helpful when needed. The actual room has really clever clues that truly make you think. If youre looking for a fun and very memorable date or activity, this is the place to go. It is reasonably priced for the awesome experience it provides. I cant wait for them to open up more rooms!
Now, Ill start off by saying that this was my first and only time in an escape room..... so I cant really compare it with others...but it was a blast. My group did the lair of lunacy. This was great and we were able to get out. The only downside was that it done in the dark with only a few flashlights making it hard for those without one to fully participate. I do plan on going back to try their espionage room which has light and harder puzzles. Great fun for an hour.
Had such a great time! The puzzle was pretty challenging, but (with the much needed hints) my group and I were able to escape! I went with a small group, but the room would definitely work for a larger group. The Escape Key is a great place for a group activity! Cant wait for more rooms to open up!
I went for a Homecoming group date, and it worked perfectly. Its easy to sign up. Well priced and was super fun.
My in-laws chose this escape room last week when everyone came to town and it was a blast! The puzzles and clues were really clever, and the employees obviously loved their jobs. This is a new location, so I wanted to help get the word out. Thanks for a great time guys!
We were a group of six that did the CSI room. We loved it. There were a lot of really fun and creative clues. As others have noted, its a little hard to find, but the space is clean and set up nicely. We would definitely go back.
Let me start by saying that the group we have is very experienced with escape rooms and have done several across the state. Escape Key is certainly not the worst, but overall Id say they are below average. The location is not ideal, being right on University Ave it can be difficult to find and get parking. The space seems like an old office space, and it seems little was done to spruce things up. The staff were friendly enough, but not in the least bit engaging or even very knowledgeable about the rooms themselves. We did Lair of Lunacy, which was as difficult as Id expect for the rating theyve given it. That was not the issue. The room itself is quite small, and with 5 adults we were practically on top of each other. As well, the props and set pieces were crowded on top of each other. The room is pitch black, which can really enhance the experience, but it did not. The flashlights we were provided throughout the room were utterly useless so that we ended up using the light from the black TV to read things more often than not. Far more frustrating than interesting. The puzzles themselves were as challenging as youd expect, though we did have issues. There was absolutely no flow to the puzzles, no solutions leading into the next puzzle at all. There were a startling number of red herrings and we were able to skip over several steps or puzzles entirely by accident, both of which are the hallmarks of poor design. The production quality was what Id describe as halloween store quality with everything feeling and looking cheap.Overall the experience was frustrating to those of us who were experienced, though our 1 person who had never done an escape room enjoyed it overall.I think there is a LOT of room for improvement on aesthetic and production quality, as well as the puzzle and room design.
Best alternative EVER to dinner and a movie! My wife and I had so much fun escaping :) The place is well designed and it was the perfect level of difficulty for those desiring something challenging and fun. Employees were very nice! I recommend this date to every one !
There was 17 of us friends that all went together. This place was really fun, way more fun than I originally thought it would be. Id definitely do it again.
We had a great time in the Lair of Lunacy room! 4 people seemed to be just the right amount for the size of the room. The only thing was that one of the flashlights was out of batteries so it was harder to see in there and the marker didnt work but other than that it was great. Perfect amount of difficulty for us.
I came here with my girlfriend and we did the Lair of Lunacy. We had a great time! We were alone in the room. Im pretty experienced with escape rooms, and we just barely got out in time. If youre new to escape rooms, I recommend coming with a group of 4 or larger, as it might be more difficult to solve all of the puzzles in a small group. The room was designed very well and felt atmospheric and creepy. There were some great surprises and clever puzzles which kept us intrigued for the duration of the game. The puzzles arent completely linear, so theres something for everyone to do if you have a larger group. The Escape Key is a welcome addition to Provo. If youve been to Getout Games and enjoyed their puzzles, then give the Escape Key a try. You wont be disappointed!
My wife and I love the escape key. The rooms are really well put together. The staff is very helpful and make the experience very enjoyable.
We took our two teenage daughters here for fun family time. It is difficult to find things to do that will keep teenagers entertained with their family! We ALL loved it!! My 14 year old cannot wait to reserve a room for her birthday party to try with all her friends! We will definitely be trying all the rooms that The Escape Key has to offer!
This was our first time experiencing an escape room, and the Escape Key did an awesome job! Tons of fun for a group date with couples. There were just four people in our group but we felt that was fine. Lots of fun clues, suspense, thinking under pressure, working together as a team: a great hour of entertainment that I highly recommend.
Super fun! I totally recommend!
First time doing one of these. Nice friendly happy staff that seemed to enjoy working there. Fun room, it helped that we went with a couple that has done these typea of things before. Would definately go again.
We had an awesome time here and we really liked the way the room ran. We did the CSI room in Provo and I just did it alone with my boyfriend. It was awesome! It is very comparable to Get Out Games, although I liked the CSI room a little better than the Heist room i just did at Get Out Games. If youve done an escape room before I highly recommend the CSI room. It has clues that require you to think but arent too crazy hard. Its a fun challenge. We dont like the ones that are super hard and stressful so this one was perfect. Try it for a date or get together with friends. Way fun, even just with the 2 people we had.
Super awesome rooms. Really accommodating for large parties. Staff super helpful with pre-instructions. Little difficult to find from the street but otherwise a great time.
First time doing an escape room and we had a great time!
So much fun! The clues were timed perfectly so we got to play for the full hour. They made it really hard but gave us clues as we needed them. Thanks for a great time!
We loved our experience at the Escape Key. The CSI was engaging and well thought out. There was just the right amount of problems to solve in the time, and we all were able to participate in solving many of them. I would definitely do this again.
In a growing market for live action games that gets people cooperating and off their phones, Escape Key has created fun and amusing puzzles for all levels. Though clearly there are growing pains and some of the puzzles/clues are not ideally crafted, there is a grand future for this locale. And I would highly recommend checking out some of there rooms across the valley!
This was the most fun experience I have had in a long time! I am so excited for more rooms to open up! My friends and I had an amazing experience. You wont be disappointed!
We had an excellent time here. I highly suggest it. Too about an hour. Very professional and difficulty level was perfect. Thank you!
My wife and I went there for a game night with friends and it was so much fun! The room was challenging and thought provoking, but most of all it was just fun. Cant wait for more rooms to solve.
