Nice little gym hidden away and a giant wasteland of industrial Giants. The park still has a lot of potential. And they are still currently working on it.

Lots of open space. Beautiful view of nature in all the seasons. There are lots of wild black berries growing along the water for tasting. Very quiet and peaceful despite being so close to a industrial area. Also there is a brand new playground area for kids. This is one of the best nature parks in the area.

This is a great place for a walk or a kayak launch. I come here a few times a week with my dog for walks. The on site crew is very polite and friendly. Most days there is a Portsmouth police officer on site so its a safe park for family activities. The only downside to this park Fire ants in large mounds. Yes they treat them but they are plentiful. And yes this southern Va. On the water so use caution snakes are around. If you are an out door person check this little park out.

Its smaller than I thought it would be. That worked out to our advantage when our youngest decided he didnt want to walk any more. Theres some beautiful flowers along the front by the parking lot. There are signs indicating that there are trees and plants that you can pick from when the fruit is ripe. Trails are easy to walk and you could take a stroller, wagon, or wheelchair along them with ease. We saw lots of berries along the Osprey trail. None of them were ripe yet. If youre looking for a long hike, go elsewhere. If you just need to get out and walk among the trees or have little ones that cant go far, then this place is perfect. It is a lovely oasis in the middle of traffic.

Its always quiet here. I usually ride my bike there and either ride through or just walk the trails. Sometimes there is wild life. Other times it is earily quiet. The Stainless steel sculptures are quite the pieces of work. I understand they are trying to revitalize nature in this once damaged ecosystem. But there is just something about the big ugly silos in the back drop of the spectacular art.

Great park for kayaking to the Elizabeth River and walking nature trails. Can kayak around the Jordan Bridge towards downtown Norfolk. This park also has nature classes for the entire family, workshops for children and a nice playground or just a nice brisk walk.

We came for a homeschool field trip and had a great time even though the weather was chilly. We are going to come back when it warms up to go on one if the bird watch walks. The kids enjoyed playing in the playground. If you get a chance to go, it is a good nature and educational experience for the whole family. Learning all about the efforts that are going into cleaning the pollution is wonderful to see.

This is a nice natural area. They offer trails that meander around wetlands and a wooded area. They are a great display of the recreation/reconstruction of the natural process. Meaning they are stimulating a dry area into a flourishing area. You are able to volunteer as well as take part in community activities throughout the year. You will see a variety of birds and maybe a creature or two by the water. Walk through the wooded area and they have a few bird and bat houses attached to trees.

I realize that the directed parking won’t always be there. Still there is free parking. But is was accompanied by superb planning and execution by the Elizabeth River Project. The modest trails seemed to have many native plants and were beautifully complemented by sculpture art. The elevation changes on the trails were modest and likely wheelchair accessible. The kayak and canoe access is a real bonus because the waterway success in creating a clean waterway conducive to exciting variety of birds. This park used to be a dumping ground. It was reclaimed by the city and resources federal local and state have been utilized to restore the wetlands and create a natural environment filled with plants and trees that are Native to Vitginia. It serves as a teaching tool for our public schools and Virginia citizens within the city of Portsmouth. When you first arrived to the park it seems so small but as you walk around and observe the different habitats and plant collections you begin to notice the bat boxes attached to the trees, the little animals crawling on the forest floor and the wonderful walking trails and bridges that run throughout the park.

The park is urban and industrial. Industrial businesses surround the park at the marshlands of Paradise Creek and continues into Elizabeth River. It appears things could be easily be quite a mess but the neighboring industries have been included in the park partnership to clean up and keep areas and waterways clean. There are several short, connecting trails, some wooded, marsh, and water. A good selection of presentations and guided tours are offered, many at no cost. There is a kayak launch, you can bring your own kayak, or let them provide all gear and take their guided tour. Staff and volunteers are working on a community garden of native edibles, mostly berries at present. Neighbors will be welcome to pick and enjoy.

This is a nice nature park, I have been only an handful of times but each time I have seen maybe one or two other people which is a nice break from other more utilized parks. I would not recommend visiting this park alone if you are a female due to the isolated & some what secluded nature of this park & the rather questionable surrounding neighborhood.

Really nice park. It has good views and solid trails with a few puddles and it never seems too busy. A great place to walk, run, meditate, or do yoga without attracting the wrong attention. This was a nice rendition of cleaning up a community site. The project was supported and funded by a multitude of organization, and the footprint for cleaner community business was set as an example. The bridge getting to and from the park was unbelievably high, and the park overall was a nice walk. The tree were interesting species. I thought it was a good example of community education and collaboration.
