Nice place to go if youre in the Newport area. They have American cars from the 1950s until the present that are in excellent condition. If you have a small child that might not be able to keep their hands off the cars then I would wait until theyre older. Not only can you not touch the cars, but you cant step on the white platforms they are on either. They have a nice gift shop as well. We werent there for too long, maybe just over an hour. So definitely a good place to see if you have some extra time in your trip!
Great atmosphere with all the people and food trucks. The band was very good also. At least a half hour wait in line (remember lines) in any one of the ten food trucks, and then another half hour to receive food once ordered. The Pit Stop Pita Wrap with chicken, meatball, cucumbers, tomatoes and a few other ingredients I cant remember was delicious. The Cheeseburgers were very good also.
Such a wonderful surprise! We took my dad for his birthday and he loved it - so did my husband and our kids, actually, me too! Such an amazing collection and fantastically displayed. Highly recommend.
Absolutely stunning and amazing vehicles! Their customer service is great. Went their with a family of 8 and Interaction with staff members was easygoing and not rushed or dissatisfying. And my admission was free for Fathers Day. Id recommend to anyone!
This is a Great place to visit, all the way from Montana and Im going back to see it again soon.
Wow... Wow... Wow... I could go on and on but starting with the top factors. The overall facility is beautiful. The staff were helpful and kind... Very informative and made me want to ask more questions. Lastly the inventory is incredible. Well worth the visit.
A good place if you are looking for something different to do. Small, took us about an hour to walk through and see everything.
This is not your typical museum. It doesnt smell like a garage and you can get up close and personal with the cars. There are no ropes to get in way of your pictures. I highly recommend visiting when youre in the area.
Great time. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Beautiful dream car collection. It takes about an hour to go through. The price was a bit high but still very enjoyable
We were headed to Rhode Island to stop at a couple of our favorite shopping spots, and I wanted to do something fun while we were there...I found this car museum online and it looked interesting. My husband and I arent really into cars, but we do appreciate nice cars and enjoy history on almost any subject. We really enjoyed this museum! The cars were beautiful and beautifully maintained. We just watched Ford vs Ferrari, so I liked the Ford Shelby exhibit because I knew a little something about it. We happened to end up there on hoods up weekend, which was definitely a bonus. If we went again I would definitely aim to go when the hoods are up. There were art deco chairs scattered around and it added to the style of the museum. The ticket price was $18 an adult and $15 for military (my husband is a vet but we didnt ask if that counted for military pricing and we paid standard admission). Included in the admission fee is a turn on the car simulator (Forza) which I seriously suck at but it was still fun! Overall it was an enjoyable afternoon and definitely worth visiting.
A thoughtful and thorough collection of over 80 impeccable automobiles. The finest examples from so many genres.. absolutely worth a visit. Huge facility, friendly and knowledge staff.
Didnt expect so many cars both vintage and latest hyper cars! Friendly personnel! One of the most expansive car museums Ive been to! Thanks a lot for Fathers days specials
Good, not great. I give the stars because its not bad but its not outstanding in its open right and there is a better offering near by. First of all, although there museum said its the Newport car museum, its actually two towns away in Portsmouth. Thee building is very nice, parking is easy and plentiful. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The good is the museum is very clean and well light. You can get very close to the cars and walk all around most of them. The collection of mustangs and Corvettes is especially strong. There are also some outstanding highlights in the collection, such as a Porsche 918 Spyder, an 1886 Benz, a Ford gt40, and split window mid-year Corvette. The collection is worth seeing, no question. The negatives of this museum concern its collection. The collection has a few less than 80 cars, so everything is on display. This is bad because you really never have to go back. But it also shows huge holes in the collection. Apart from the early Benz I dont believe they have any other cars from before 1950, no golden age vehicles whatsoever, that a huge problem because theyre essentially missing half timeline of cars. This poverty continues thematically. There a few one off interesting pieces, such as a Kaiser, but overall the collection is missing representation from some major players. There are no Ferraris, Aston Martins, Bugatti, Audi, VW (such as a bug or carmengia) Audi, and Volvo. There are several well known but defunct brands that arent present, like Peirce-Arrow, Studebaker, or delorean. One could quibble about taste, but thats the big problem, with a couple exceptions the collection is neither wide not deep. It has a smattering of cars with really no particular unifying theme. If youre in the area and its a rainy day, check it out, but its not worth going out of your way for, and once youve been there you really never need to go back.
Fantastic car museum presenting a broad range of automotive generations in a modern building...if you love cars this museum is not to be missed...it will blow you away...really!
We visited for the first time with our grandchildren today. Amazing place, a real journey into cars. Our grandchildren were so thrilled and so were we. Thank you for all your hard work!!
Just a friendly, clean facility with a truly unique collection. The number of Cobra variants is staggering, but the museum hosts a great selection of european super cars and classics as well.
Lots of very cool cars. If you like cars you will love this place!
A MUST ! A MUST ! A MUST MUSEUM ! Forget 5 stars I would give it a 10 !!! The car collection is a jaw dropping, mouth watering, cant believe what Im seeing collection. Its a collection from one gentleman. The Museum itself is immaculate, very clean, and the layout is perfect. It also has a collection of antique imported, unique chair collection from the collectors wife.I cant say enough about the staff, they were like family, from the gentleman at the front desk to the informative gentleman in the showroom and the very lovely lady in the gift shop. They were all very nice people. We will be back with family and friends. Absolutely beautiful and incredible ! A MUST !
Awesome collection, everything is kept extremely clean. The cars are on stands but you can get up close and peer inside. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, if Im back the area Ill definitely come back. They also have driving simulators which are quite fun to try for all ages. Overall fantastic experience, even for those who arent so fanatical about cars.
Absolutely stunning and mesmerizing place. Great collection, nicely separate. Appropriate music and amazing furniture to seat and just enjoy every detail of the cars. Cant wait to come back.
A lovely place with an awesome and friendly staff. Cars are exquisite. Definitely recommend if you are in the area!
This was a fantastic place to go if you love cars. Extremely friendly staff that make you feel welcome for sure. I think you can have parties there and that would be a very good and different option. A must go.
An incredible experience with some of the nicest cars ever produced from rare to jaw dropping this place had it all and it was a great experience. The vollunteer staff is also extremely helpful and informative. Definitely recommend if you have the time, I would allow at least one and a half to two hours, more if you really want to check it all out in depth.
Good way to spend an afternoon learning about very very cool cars and placing a few on the if I win the lottery list.
The nicest car museum I have ever been too. Im no expert but all the cars seemed to be museum quality restorations. An amazing private collection.
Pretty cool place to visit. Cars through the decades. Well decorated with neat chairs throughout and well maintained
Awesome experience seeing all these beautiful cars together. Very informative with incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Can’t wait to come back and see what’s been added to the collection!
Great Collection of cars. In Gunther is just such a wonderful guy!
Great time and a lot of nice cars with the history behind them. A must for any auto enthusiast.
Great car museum to visit. We happened to visit on a rainy day which was nice. Great selection of cars to admire and learn about. They have a variety of cars from domestics to foreign. Nice facility for car enthusiasts. They even have a room where racing simulators are set up. You get 1 race with your paid admission.
We planned a trip to Rhode Island just to visit Newport Car Museum! We visited during the Hoods Up Weekend event for my birthday. They do the hoods up event once a month and it was DEFINITELY worth the 3 hour drive to come and see! They had quite an array of cars to view as well as many employees that were always readily available, should you wish to ask any questions about any car. They were quite knowledgeable and I enjoyed talking with them. At the end of the day, it doesnt matter if you are a Chevy person or a Ford person. People come here together to unite as one and put their differences aside to truly enjoy all the beauty bestowed upon us in the car world. There is a nice sitting area as well and a small area to enjoy a coffee and reading materials. We did notice a room down a hallway that had some inventory inside that was not on display. There is also a car simulation room for adults and kids. There are staff to help everyone who wishes to try their hand at a race. It was a really nice visit and also were able to purchase many things in the Newport Car Museum gift shop. Overall, we really enjoyed their Ford collection and were quite grateful we were able to attend the hoods up weekend event and strongly encourage others to also consider visiting this museum.
A GREAT Collection of vintage automobiles from different eras. Laid out very well, bright and clean. Staff was informative when I had a question about one of the cars on display. Would go there often if I lived closer.
Very cool place! Cars are in great condition and amazing to look at!
Enjoyed walking around looking at the cars.
Love this place there are a lot of cars all the cars are owned by one guy
They cars are amazing very nicely done .you never want live
A fantastic collection of iconic automobiles in a stylish venue. Definitely worth a stop for anyone who appreciates a beautiful car.
Very cool - nicely done museum. Incredible collection
It has a great selection of historic cars! From brand new sport cars to finned behemoths! Its great! Lots of modern furniture to fit the theme as well. I was happy to meet the curator and owner of this great collection, and cant wait to visit again!
For car lover this is great place to go to
Must see for car enthusiasts. Good place to bring a date. Clean rest rooms.
Nice car museum. Large selection of cars. Love the international cars. Friendly staff. No crowds.
Great selection of cars!
A really fantastic collection of show cars, with a great staff. The folks who volunteer at the museum are professional, interesting, dedicated, and great conversationalists! Thank you to the Buermans for sharing your collection with us!
Beautiful cars, knowledgeable staff, racing simulators. Whats not to love? Well documented, multimedia, and modern furniture.
Simply amazing. You MUST visit this place... Just breath taking. Each room is crafted to have a certain look and feel. You can tell the owner has a genuine passion for not only the vehicles but the way in which you experience them. The staff is super friendly and has knowledge of the vehicles as well.Honestly you feel like some how you got access to something you shouldnt be allowed to see. It is really that nice.
This place is great go check it out worth the 18 buck each the cars are so beautiful
For all car lovers and gear heads this is a must go place near Newport, RI. I liked the way cars were display and there were some really rare cars. Overall, the collection was large and they even have Ford GT from the Fast Five movie!
Definitely worth the trip.
Best display of cars I have ever seen. Fantastic artistic presentation. I love the selection of vehicles, colors chosen and museum red, white, black and grey main sterile and clean offering. Stunning!
What a great place to check out some incredible classic cars.
Nice privately owned collection of cars. Wish he had some old school trucks. All the cars are super nice if you have a rainy day i highly recommend making the stop
Great museum, cars very nice and display was great. Good videos and pictures
Loved it and love cars especially old fashion ones heres all of them. Enjoy like I do every other day.
My husband and I have been to many car museums, on the east coast, and the Newport Car Museum has been the finest. We were greeted by friendly staff, shown the way to the vehicles, advised we could take as many photo as we liked (my hobby which works well with my husbands love of cars), and we were even greeted and conversed with the owners Gunther and his wife Maggie. The facility is absolutely beautiful. The vehicles are pristine, and are beautifully displayed, the photos on the walls, the timely furnishings, should you desire to sit a bit, are all beautiful. The vehicles have their own area by type, and there are videos playing related to the vehicles. At the end of your tour, you might want to try out one of the car simulators in another area. Im adding a few photos to this review, we hope to visit the Newport Car Museum again soon!
A bunch of really cool cars. Not many cool Japanese cars other than the two NSXs chilling in the storage room. The Daytona was a really cool sight to behold
Great new museum, huge parking and reasonable price for the ticket. You will have access to big number of cars. I especially liked Shelby section there, but still a number of other different models (old & news). Great interactive videos in different rooms, a lot of places to sit and relax. Great light too. Friendly and knowledgable staff which is always ready to answer your questions (if you have any). The only recommendation for Museum staff... is to close the hoods at least for some of the cars. Pictures looks much better and complete when hood is closed... But everything else is amazing. Highly recommended place to visit in New England.
Nothing short of amazing....i will be back. Driving simulation was awesome, but not as awesome as seeing all of these beautiful cars. Swear to God that the cars were smiling, everything was pristine...clean, dust free, polished to perfection. Took a lot of videos but I did snap miss incredible picture. Definitely do not pass up an opportunity to visit the Newport Car Museum. I will be going to the other location in the coming months. ️
Amazing assortment of cars. Different generations, makes and models. So much to see. Could easily take 2-3 hours with an interested group. There were car racing simulators at the end too.
Visited this museum on a recent trip to the area. I was impressed with the large variety of cars and how they were displayed. The museum staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The museum is divided into multiple halls, each with their own theme laid out on a plaque at the entrance to it. Each car has its own plaque explaining some of its statistics and some interesting history.Photography is encouraged, I ate through an entire battery going through the exhibits. According to staff and their website they also have the occasional car show or other event, which would make the cost of entry even more worth it.
Nice collection of cars. Very nice staff.
Wow! What a fantastic museum! We were driving by and saw this new museum (opened 2 years ago) and since it was a cold, rainy, April day, we stopped in. Adult admission is $18 and that is a bargain for the stunning display that you will see at the Newport Car Museum. Photography is allowed and the photo ops are amazing with the variety of car colors & lighting. The graphic displays on the walls enhance the experience along with cool mid century furniture throughout the large viewing areas. Multiple rooms group various car types (world cars, MOPAR, Corvette, Shelby/Mustang, Fins) with detailed descriptions for the cars on display. They have a large event space (need to find a reason to have a party there!) and they also have indoor golf (we didn’t check out that area). Staff is great, offering insights on the cars & how the museum was started. Fun for all ages & genders!! #PlumCrazy #MyFavorite
Im a local, and I have no idea why I put off visiting this museum for so long. Im a big fan of cars, and they have a spectacular collection. Theres a little bit of everything, from Modern Exotics to 50s Classics. The museum is very well laid-out, with great R and video presentations along with the cars. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I really enjoyed chatting with them about some of the different vehicles.I went with my father and younger brother, I had bought them tickets for Christmas. We had an excellent time, and I highly recommend it!
Great selection of cars! Up close and personal, videos, simulator room. This was not on my agenda for the day, but Im glad I went in. I really enjoyed it. Match box cars come to life. They have a dedicated room to Mustangs. They even have chairs and couches that are 60s era.
This was a lot of fun for somebody who is not really a car guy. I can certainly appreciate the passion that goes into building some of these cars. The simulator was fun and plenty realistic.
Really nice collection of cool cars! Definitely worth the visit.
Amazing cars- make sure your kids are old enough to follow the rules of the museum.
They have some really nice and clean cars. And a few really rare ones. Totally worth checking out. Each car has info on it specs and a brief history. Everything is nicely setup. The driving simulator is fun to.
It was great. The car collect was awesome. The owner owns all these cars.
Good way to spend an hour or so. Some nice cars for old classics to new hybrids.
Awesome museum for car geeks, families, and those who enjoy fast, fun cars. Dont forget to stop by the simulators to take a virtual drive in a number of fun cars.
I wondered if the price would be worth it since we go to free shows all the time.Well, this show is special. I never saw so many unique, high end cars in such great condition. Definitely worth the price. Be sure to try the simulator, too. Idrove a Cobra convertible.
Such an amazing place!!! Brought 2 of our teens and we all had the best time. High end place at a decent price. The employees were so nice and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend everyone checking it out.
Kudos on the best of the best! Beautifully laid out and colorfully designed! I loved the artwork gracing the walls and videos! The simulation was fun also!
Incredible collection, this is a must see four tourists and residents alike
Privately owned cars. Really nice.
Beautiful placeperfect for Fathers Day!
Over 50 Beautiful cars, but not just the cars the museum is beautiful too. Driving simulations, free coffee and treats. Car photographers Mecca. Lighting, and presentation perfect. No ropes! Self guided.
A great museum. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. A fun environment and family atmosphere.
Great place to visit.
This is by far the best car museum we have ever visited, and we have been to many car museums. From the 1886 one cylinder Benz automobile to the Porsche 918 Spyder and everything in between. The layout and lack of ropes really allow you to study each car. There are many different types of lounge chairs and benches throughout so it was easy to rest and/or sit and reflect on the uniqueness of each car. The video clip of Carroll Shelby was amazing to watch, and we loved the fins display and the corvette room. So many things to see and do...we will be back again sometime!
Great atmosphere, awesome cars. Knowledgeable. Friendly and professional staff. Ill be back....
One of the best and eclectic car collections Ive had the pleasure of viewing. Gunther the owner was gracious and chatted with me for quite a while about his collection. Well worth the $18 to get in. I highly recommend this museum if you are a car enthusiast.
Great place!!!!! My husband and I enjoyed our time here. Must place to visit!!!!
Ive been here twice already late 2019, and planning for future visits when newer cars come in. Loved the place overall! The staff/employees are courteous and kind. They take cash and credit card. Its a massive showroom facility. You can walk about many cars face to face without a rope in the middle! Expect to walk a lot if you want to see all the cars, as there are multiple showroom like exhibit halls displaying various makes and models and classes. My first trip lasted about +3 hours due to a social media project. They were very inviting! Ill be back soon!
The Newport Car Museum is absolutely first rate. Fantastic collection of cars in a beautiful facility and presented with great context that outlines the historical significance of each model presented. Especially interesting for those that love exotics from European racing heritage, Big three American racing and muscle, as well as just gorgeous examples from the tail fin era. I was hesitant when I saw the relatively high entrance fee. But the exhibit was so well put together, I’d pay it again.
Mind blowing historical collection of 80 sports cars! Awesome retro decor. Really cool gift shop! Free parking and free use of race car simulators! Shelbys in the House! Check em out on FB!
Great place! Lots of fantastic cars! A must see if youre in the area!
Awesome place. Im not into sure but I was very impressed with the collection. Staff were friendly and help us with our questions
This was a great day and money well spent I learned alot like I will never fit in a Lamborghini, there is a ford out there I like (2015 gt 350) and just because the gift shop is in a car museum it doesnt have to sell car related products lol had a great time cant wait for the McLaren to get there Ill go back soon with my grandchildren!
Amazing museum of both new and old cars. Heavy on the fast cars! My teenage boy was in heaven.
Took my 2 boys here because they love cars, especially the sporty, exotic ones. They had a blast checking out the Lambos and Shelbys, especially. You can get up close to the vehicles, just no touching! Afterwards we had fun shopping in the gift shop. I even got an early Fathers Day present. Perfect stop for anyone who loves or appreciates vehicles. Dont forget to make a stop to try out the simulators, which put you behind the wheel of many awesome cars. Its included with the price of admission. The event space looked very nice. Chic and modern, but also classic with a digital jukebox in there.
Wow. A pristine collection. If you love cars then you must come here!!!
Loved tge visit, start to finish. Beautiful art to accompany the vehicle works of art. Driving simulators were fun and worth the price of Admission.
Fantastic collection of real classic cars...I look forward to returning..
This was an awesome place to see some amazing cars. Staff was super friendly.
The was awesome best time all summer
Very nice, clean, workers were fabulous!
