Walked along Levee Rd as part of roadwalk on the Ice Age Trail. Lovely views and relatively quiet on a Monday. Lots of parking areas along the way. I look forward to finishing this roadwalk!

Right off of Levee Rd, along the Wisconsin River, this area is often unaccessible due to high water. But when its had a day or 2 to dry out; its gorgeous. I love this place most in the fall, when the colors are just starting to pop.I recently lost a very special friend of mine who introduced me to this area. I went there this morning to pay him a little tribute. I got very lucky & had blue skies briefly.

Amazing place to visit. Well worth all the time you can take to go. Eagle watching on the second floor with lots of binoculars and monoculars to use and see. They have 3 rescue eagles that you can be very close to as well as a gorgeous golden eagle. Such a beautiful place to visit and spend time learning about eagles

A natural nature area with marsh, grassland and wooded areas. Located along the bank of the Wisconsin River it provides deer ducks and geese. Hunters and their digs are challenged during a special pheasant season with birds planted by the DNR. The area has been hampered by excessive areas of water the last few years because of excessive rain and snow melt offs. Bring your boots !! An impressive area for the nature enthusiast. Neighbors the Leopold Reserve as an added delight.

Great place to stop and stretch out. Simple rest stop and easy to get back on the highway no matter which way you are heading. Recently the bridges around it were redone making the on and off much simpler. Been traveling through this area for 20 years and during the summer and fall its fun to walk the terrace and just listen to nature. Traffic noise is very dulled due to the new bridge design. There is a walking path that goes near the water which is a simple 1/8 mile, maybe 1/10. Restrooms have always been clean and stocked, plenty of maps and other things are available to help give ideas for Minnesota sight seeing. Vending machines and water available too. Many days there is a greeter inside who can help and many times is great for a bit of conversation too.

Couldnt get to most of the trails as they were closed or under construction. The trails that were open were over grown and hard to traverse.

You can see flocks of a thousand Canadian geese flying around here in the fall. Its part of the Pine Island Flyway, one of the major migration routes for birds heading south for the winter.

I deer hunted all day only to see nothing, then very nearly hit one with my car as I was leaving. Beautiful place.

Anything outdoor is beautiful in Wisconsin.

Very Clean And Lots Of Fun!

An interesting place to explore with the Wisconsin River on one side of the levee and lots prairie and wet land restoration on the other. No real trails other than the deer trails. Some off road parking. Plenty of waterfowl in the wetland restoration area. Levee road is a classified rustic road... its going to be a little rough in spots.. so slow down and enjoy the scenery. Only reason I cant award a 5 star... noise level from the interstate.

The spot I stopped at had motiple beer bottles, empty beer cans and a discarded broken tv. Would not have been to bad as I picked most of it up if the unrespectful varmints would have left a ten dollar bill amongst their trash for me being hospitable.

OMG! As far as Im concerned a must see! In the winter months there are a huge number of Bald Eagles to watch from the banks....couldnt bear to leave

The road is one of the worst in the state of Wisconsin and they dont preserve the wildlife anymore. The geese are all gone from the old Refuge and theres not much left for deer.
