Great little park to visit amd spend time with family. They offer fields for sports, 3 different playgrounds for kids, a beach access to water. Public restrooms and a great place to walk for nature view. Only issue i have really is that you have to pay to get in and the price is kind of expensive for the size of the park itself. The beach during the summer months is packed so good luck finding a spot for your family.
Ive been visiting this park my whole life and Im 51. There are ballfields, football fields, playgrounds, and a very nice beach. Great place for picnics.
I love Ramona Park! Theres a fantastic playground there, walking trails, movies in the park in the summer, and a very nice beach area! My only con is the beach area could use a little more attention as far as upkeep (trash, sticks, etc) but that is on everyone to do their part and not just the people who maintain the property
Great Park! It has many different parking areas all down the entrance road. once you get 1/2 way down the road you can see the tennis court, the football area, and many more areas with different sports taking place. Then you go further and see the kids area where there are 2 play places and swings, along with bug carts they can go back and forth in, and what makes it so great is that the entire ground around the kids area is covered with a very soft flexible covering. Making any falls for little ones very safe. No skinned knees ;) to the left of the park there is a full bathroom and sitting area and a volleyball net. You can swim in the lake, go out on the dock, or even walk down a trail. Also covered areas to sit and benches along with picnic tables and benches placed throughout the park. Definalty a good park with many options for get togethers. I do believe there is parking fee to get into the beach area but only during certain times so I would double check that before going or be prepared to pay for parking just in case.,
Beautiful park with great amenities. The beach is really well maintained with lifeguards. There also is a beach house with rentals, nice restrooms, and snacks.
We brought our kids and nephew to this park for a Birthday celebration I was amazed and exited when we got there on how nice it was! Unfortunately we ended up leaving because kids in the water were calling our kids Burnt popcorn (African American) and the Ranger in charge responded that he can’t help ignorance. I’m disappointed in his response never apologized or tried to find the children’s parents we definitely will not be going back!!!
Took the kids to the monster mash to do car trick or treating and they had a lot of fun!
Little pretty beach. Too many rules including no floating devices and the swimming area was way too small to cover all people swimming, especially when this social distancing is needed. Idk who decides the size of the swimming area, but it should be larger. Think please.
A good sized park with plenty of equipment, bathrooms, and a beach. It is also a good place to go to take family photos.
Love this park and come here all the time with my family. Clean facilities, friendly staff. Sometimes its a bit crowded but its never been that bad for us.
Very clean. Plenty of different things to do. Lots of trash bins around. Plenty of trees for shade while having great open areas like multiple soccer fields and such.
The drive in movie was really nice, a lot of people had their headlights on but thats not the staffs fault. Overall I liked it a lot and appreciated the free movie!
Rented kayaks for a couple hours here and it was gorgeous, and the process was quick and easy. We got to enjoy our time on the water and it was great. Ive always loved this park.
Great little beach for a chill afternoon. They are very strict about swimming rules though, if you want floating devices, his is not the place for you. Overall a nice area.
Should be free for everyone not just people that live in Portage. Kalamazoo has alot of good people who would like a nice place to take there kids
Its playing quiet and surprisingly not a lot of people there
Its a great place to take the kids for a little getaway.
Ten dollar charge for non resident of portage is more than a little ridiculous so maybe they can fix that
Great time today at the Halloween event.
Excellent! But peoples arent following covid 19 protocol
Nice family beach to relax at. Boat rentals available also.
This was a great place to go with a family for the day. The beach was clean and well supervised. I like how close everything is. You can have a picnic by the playground and be right by the beach as well. Parking is close too. Even their snack bar was impressive. They had lots of nice choices for food and snacks with very good prices. We will definitely want to come back here every summer!
Our family loves this place! Something for everyone. Convenient doc to fish off of. They have a padded playground for younger kids. An open area to play family games. Beach volleyball, rent some kayaks, or just enjoy the beach and swimming in the summer months. Oh and the views are nice too! Have a fun day out and leave the electronics at home!
Very nice beach with lifeguards. Fishing dock, beach volleyball, basketball, soccer, grills.
Ive been coming here for years. Today i got a free resident pass for living in Portage! I will be here a lot
Well managed, clean and very busy in this hot weather.
Great park.
$10 seems excessive for only one day at this small beach. Also its hard to enjoy time with your kids because there are so many rules about being in the water. I get it, safety first! But I should be able to play with the kids I bring there freely and not get yelled at by the lifeguards.
Wonderful beach and lifeguard on duty
They have a nice, safe play structure, a nice beach, clean bathroom
Beautiful park. Lake access for swimming. Life guard was on duty when I was there. Bathrooms are pretty clean. Concessions available. Lots of parking. Great play equipment with padded area underneath.
Very nice green space.
Definitely a one of the biggest parks Ive been to in a while. Access to the water is ready and available. Police station is located right next door. 4th of July fireworks are always incredible every year. Always a huge turn out food trucks and vendors are ready to serve.
Great place kids had a blast!
Beautiful park. Family friendly. Handicap parking and ramps into water at beach as well as handicap ramp and dock for fishing. Handicap and sensory safe playground and equipment. Has ball fields tennis courts pavilions picnic tables shade restrooms snack court showers grills beach volleyball kayak rental pet friendly lifeguards very clean. Portage Park tag free for Portage residents at parks and Recreation on Westnedge in city hall. Non residents $7 day pass to all portage parks.
Its a park. Smack dab in the middle of those who look @ you funny if youre walking alone. I guess I should be walking a dog? Or a child? ..How about back to my car to leave. Not impressed w/ you, Portage
Pretty nice beach area. Not huge but not too small either. Seems like they usually have a lifeguard on duty. There is a playground close to the beach so kids can swim & play. Plus they do seasonal activities like for Halloween & stuff.
It was horrible, it was nice and clean but it was very uncomfortable for me and my family. The lifes guards were constantly walking past us staring at us. Even when we went to the beach area they were non stop staring at us and talking about us... It was just so uncomfortable ... Ive been going to Ramona park since I was a kid, and never have I ever felt so uncomfortable in my life.... They need to calm down a little bit it was way to intense.
Nice place to relax and grill
Fun place. Small swim area but clean and nice. Even the boat rental is cheap. The small concession stand is a nice feature and is not over priced. Very nice place top have company meetings and family get togethers. Real enjoyed my time there. Not to crowded and many things to sp other than swim. Very nice playground for the kids.
Very nice place. Well kept. Easy 2 get 2.
Very clean park. Theres a lot for kids to do and they have a nice sandy beach plus sporting facilities. You can even purchase food at the beach! No need to worry if you forget water or snacks. Pets arent allowed.
Nice combed beach, lifeguard on duty, clean bathrooms. Very nice tables and kids playground equipment. I only gave it 4 stars because the music on the loudspeaker was so loud that all 4 of us had a nasty headache when we left.
Absolutely beautiful

Great place to read and relax.
Nice park and good fishing dock wish it went out a bit farther on the T park but other than that very clean and well maintained
Nice playground, today it was a real smelly beach, small beach- can’t bring your own food to beach, $10 feels like a lot for a day visit. Otherwise nice and well kept.
Very nice and quite lake
Great playgrounds and atmosphere on Long Lake. Its free when its not beach season.
A great park that has a little bit of everything. There are several large football fields and soccer fields with plenty of room for literally hundreds of people to play. There are a couple fairly quality softball fields on the north side as well.In addition, there are newly resurfaced tennis courts and pickle ball courts, which arguably are the best in town.To round it off, there is a great playground area for kids, as well as a beach that is open for swimming and other water activities during the summer.A great lark on the southeast side of Portage that is a nice little secret.
Great park in Portage awesome gatherings
The park was well maintained, with upgrades going on. The beach looked great but was not yet open. Looking forward to many play trips there
Its ok
Nice beach. Cold water and a fun playground. Plenty of room to sit and grill
Had a family reunion here it was so nice lots of room to gather and catch up. I did not go swimming so I can not comment on that but we had a wonderful time.
Park itself is ok but definitely dont love paying $10 to get in when i can get into a state park/beach for free with my license plate pass ($11 free access all year). The life guards are annoying, too many rules, makes it not fun.
The beach is clean and the park itself was really nice, but the rules seem a bit much. I understand that in order to keep things organized they have to be strict, but it was a real bummer that the swimming area isnt even deep enough for me to not be able to touch (Im only 52). My husband used to swim for state, he wanted to stretch his arms and truly swim but they rope off a very small little area to swim in and it was really overcrowded. I know its for safety reasons but it would have been nice to have a larger swimming area that is actually somewhat deep as we are not allowed to swim beyond the rope. Also, they dont allow flotation devices :( But the fishing area was very pleasant and they do keep the bathroom areas nice and clean. We also wanted to kayak as they have a tandem kayak for $12 but they were at capacity so they had to shut down the entire concession stand and boat rentals to lifeguard. It was disappointing.
Ramona Park has a wonderful playground that has a padded rubber floor which is great for kids of all ages. The playground is also fenced in on three sides so that parents can sit and watch their and kids play with peace of mind that they will not run off toward the water or woods behind the playground area. The rest of the park has fantastic outdoor facilities for hosting parties and events, access to a fishing deckz rest rooms, beach access for swimming, basketball, tennis, pickleball courts as well as soccer and others.
Kids love it.
Lovely park, and lake. Have alwats enjoyed spending time here
Love that it is handicapped accessible all the way into the water!
Could have been a Way better Experience if it wasnt for all the Rules when it came to swimming. Wish they had days without a Lifeguard
Love taking my kids here! The play areas are very age friendly and are well maintained!
Its a great place to bring the family and enjoy the water and the kids can play at the playground
Great place water is just deep enough that your head pokes out at 5 foot 9
Great playground equipment, the beach is well maintained with several lifeguards. They do not allow inflatable floaties, only life jackets which you can get from the pool house free.
Clean park with lots of things to do
Nice fields that are usually open.
Nice park
The beach side park is nice, but it is only free for Portage residents.
Definitely good for family outings. Really good place.
The monster mash is pretty decent.
Nice for family outdoor nice places to play basketball tennis in football and theres a nice view to the lake its pretty clean lots of picnics to tables and grills as well as Pavilions
There is a nice beach, and lots of space, but, in the summer, there is a lot of goose poop and litter. It also costs money to reserve or use the park. There is a nice patio area and they have bathrooms.
We went here for free park day. Lots of things to do here. Tennis, playground, beach, picnic, basketball. Even a small concession stand. Was impressed to see a lifeguard on duty as well. Of course we all hope he never has to do his job, but was good to see that he was available if needed. Also was nice to see handicapped child accessable playground items. There was a braille activity, a sign language activity, a wheelchair accessible rocking boat, and large harness swings as well. There was a wheelchair ramp to the water as well. No one left behind. Great job Ramona park.
Very nice park by the lake and it has great playground for the kids
It is currently free for the rest of the season (it is September) the kids love to play and it is nice having a playground with an alternate ground to pea gravel or wood chips. It is carpeted at Ramona. It has 2 swings for special needs children but one has the latch broken and swings a little crooked now. Universal playground for multiple age groups.
Best park in this area. Lots of stuff for the kids to do and climp on.
I love this park! So much to do for everyone in the family!
I go there to relax, NOT swim. The water hasnt been good to swim in this year. Its a nice park and it was very nice they let Seniors in free. Thank you!
This park AWESOME!!!!!!I loved our time here. Its totally full of the beautiful creation that God has made for us to enjoy there.GORGEOUS!
Awesome park went there for a swim and the water was not cold at all
The water was so warm and the park was clean
Nice CLEAN park and lake for family gatherings
Park with lots to do lol
Wonderful park. With the $25 annual resident pass you just cant go wrong. Parks fields beaches Docks boat landing, concessions, grills, and gazebos. And theres still more. Great family park!
Beautiful park & play area.
Visited many times. The best times to go are before memorial weekend. The beach is less busy then. And the park itself is always well maintained!
