If you visit Olympic National Park, you HAVE to put Sol Duc Falls on your list of hikes. It is an easier hike that we did after two more difficult hikes in the morning and early afternoon. I have never hiked in a forest bottom (not sure if that’s what this is but it’s what I kept calling it) and it was one of the most magical and mystical places I have ever been. I think the fog and light drizzle contributed to the “magic” of it all, but I imagine long rays of sunshine make it glisten and sparkle even more.At every turn I felt like a kid, witnessing something for the first time. From the tiny creeks, to the large trunks of the fallen trees, to the thick bright green moss, little bridges, colorful mushrooms, to the grand falls... everything was so impressive. This was a quick hike for us with a few hills and muddy/slippery spots that might make it a little more difficult for others but totally worth it!
The hike can be pretty steep at placesThe water it extremely cold.Well maintained hike and good spots to click some wonderful photos.Parking is a major pain! The designated parking lot is pretty small. The surrounding regions arent well suited for parking either.
Absolutely beautiful! I just wish we could do more of the hikes, but carrying a baby and walking with two kids is tough enough lol. The solduc falls was about 1.6 miles round trip. We went end of May. There was actually a smaller but amazing waterfall on the way. Well if you can call it that. More like a creek but with the rocks and change in elevation it was pretty neat. Also this takes about 2-3 with ferry to get here from Seattle. Not bad.
A short hike but worth every step. Its got a tree canopy so it wasnt very hot in July. Take some bug spray, mosquitos and gnats love some fresh blood. The falls are beautiful! Unique way there rocks have formed.
This place is amazing! Waterfalls rushing so loud you can yell and barely be heard over them! Mists your face...just awesome! The Lovers Lane trail is very, very cool and a true hike as is the trail narrows quite a bit and with water laying from the rain we had to creatively trek the trail...not hard or super steep, just really in the forest and very natural...so cool!
Perfect hike for the rainy day. The forest canopy shelters you from the rain. It was a nice quick hike to the falls. Beautiful views and a must see at Olympic. It started getting pretty busy after 12pm so go early to beat the crowds.
Easy hike ... kids can easily do that . Roughly 1 mile hike ...
Stunning views on a short .8 mile hike to the falls. Tiny parking area though and many people parked on the side of the road. Not too crowded considering it was. Saturday in early August.
What a unexpected surprise this waterfall was. We really enjoyed the short 1 mile walk to it through the rain forest.
0.8 miles from the place you park your car. Went with the family and great walk with mini waterfalls in between.
A short easy hike through thick forest to some large beautiful waterfalls.
Short hike with amazing plant life and a really cool triple divided waterfall.
A must see hike. 1.6 miles round trip. Well worth our time
So beautiful! Easy hike to 3 amazing waterfalls in one. Fantastic channel cut thru the rock.
Beautiful hike to the falls and the views are amazing! There are a few other trails off the main trailhead one can take and get some great photos. The pure power of these falls is intense and has been one of the most memorable from our trip to Olympic National Park.
Gorgeous hike and gorgeous waterfall! I would go back.
Beautiful trail even under heavy rain! It is true wilderness and natural beauty. Must see in Olympic national park. Also kids friendly trail, good length.
A decent hike for just over 3/4 of a mile takes you to some beautiful falls.
Beautiful hike to a nice waterfall. Well worth doing.
Easy hiking trail leading to a beautiful waterfall. The Marymede waterfall trailhead is nearby, so you can visit both on the same day.
Magical and breathtaking. An easy hike for all ages and a simply beautiful stroll to some powerful falls!
Beatiful trails!! So peaceful, could get lost here...NO SERIOUSLY COULD GET LOST:( Need better signs to show you where to go and find more trails, waterfalls and hot springs
To get to the falls you will have to hike for about 0.8 miles(one way)and the hike is not strenuous at all. The sol duc falls puts on a beautiful display for visitors and if sunlight reaches the mist formed by the waterfall, you will see a rainbow form right in front of you which can be pretty exciting for some.
Beautiful and simple hike. Was wonderful at the end of March, a little snow but no need for snow shoes. Would definitely recommend.
Its an easy, medium length trail that takes you to sol Duc falls. Its wet and slick so be careful not to slip.
Fairly easy hike for Kids and very rewarding at the Falls.
Absolutely worth the hike and scenery
Absolutley stunning. And the hike to the falls was really easy. My 5mth old did great.
The Pacific northwest at its finest. Short hike (less than a mile each way) lots of other hikers of all levels. Take in a deep breath and smell the fresh clean air. Im making my plans for my next trip there. You do need to purchase a federal park pass. You can get one for just a day, $30 or annual all parks pass. Its worth the $80 splurge.
Great place to visit in the national park. The whole park is beautiful. Just the drive up to the trailhead of the falls is amazing in the midst of tall coniferous trees. The hike to the falls is short and easy. No steep sections. The waterfall itself is of medium size but beautiful. Unlike many waterfalls you arrive at the site at the top of the falls rather than at the bottom. Nice place for a visit.
Beautiful falls, nicely maintained trail, easy hike.
A relatively short and easy hike back to a wonderful set of Falls. Really pays off.
Well maintained trail, easy hike, awesome falls.
Always great...short trails and some longer loops too...ie Lovers Lane Loop...go early for best light and less crowded...J Le Duc
Great little hike. Don’t drive past without checking it out!
The hike and falls are amazing.
Lovely but busy. It was a free day at the park so perhaps that was why it was as crowded as it was.
Beautiful hike. Take the loop to get away from the crowds.
Easy hike with an amazing waterfall at the end. Definitely worth the effort.
Campground was amazing, but it doesnt quite match up to some of the other campgrounds in the park. What really makes it nice is the falls themselves- theyre beautiful.
A nice walk to a pleasant view of this waterfall. Around 1.5 miles of hike and you can reach to this magical thundering site. Get ready for sprinkles and amazing views.
Beautiful hike and destination. Though only a .6 mile hike the tree roots and rocks could make it difficult for some.
Falls are a short walk. You get the rainforest feel like the Hoh Rainforest. There is an option for a longer hike to Deer Lake. About 3.8 miles. Last weekend of March it was frozen so it was a long hike up for an okay view of the lake.
Fun trail, not too long, lots of exploring. Crowded however.
This is a great hike. Short and well worth the drive. Theres a beautiful bridge over the canyon and the trail is very flat, and accessible for kids.
Great, super easy hike to a powerful waterfall. Perfect way to start the day and even saw an owl sitting on the trail. Beautiful!
So many amazing trails and beautiful scenery
Great little trail from the parking lot to the falls, 0.8 miles one way according to the sign. The trail does have lots of roots and rocks and can be slippery and muddy when wet. There are some stairs. Still a pretty easy hike - my three year old did it with no trouble at all.The falls are beautiful, the guard rails near them are sturdy and make it quite safe for a supervised toddler.
Beautiful place... nice hike
Great hill for kids
In love with this place.. try to go for sunrise as it will be crowded soon
The lovers lane loop from the resort to the falls and back was a wonderful ~6 mike morning walk. There are some teeny Falls just past the main ones on a creek that feeds the sol Duc. The trail from the trailhead to the main falls is well graded and wide, while the rest of the loop is a nice narrow but generally obstacle free traverse though some old growth forest.
Quite a strenuous walk if you arent in perfect health and great shape. Lots and rugged stairs and hills to climb. Almost 1 mile each way, and while the waterfall was neat, I wouldve skipped this one if I had any idea how hard it was.The Salmon Cascades that are located on the road to Sol Duc Falls are a lot of fun, easily accessible from the parking lot, and just a beautiful.
Beautiful falls. Easy hike.
A lush hike to the beautiful falls.
Easy large trail of around 1.8 miles round-trip with a nice view of the falls and the starting point of other longer trails. For a longer trek to the falls, a starting point in the Loop B of the campground adds around 2 miles on a small muddy trail but very beautiful.
One of the most beautiful hikes Ive ever been on. Prefect length, even for somone not in the best shape :) highly recommend going when its still a little bit cool outside.
Relatively easy hike. Gorgeous views. Decent amount of people but didnt feel crowded. Seemed a bit dark during the hike because of the forest, even though it was a sunny day. Enjoyed ourselves.
Great views, easy .8 mile hike. Highly recommended. Like being on Tana.
Wow. Beautiful waterfalls and lovely 20 minutes trek to reach
Gorgeous!
We didnt camp here, but we did the hike and it was pretty. Did it blow my mind? Not exactly. But it was still very nice and I would recommend it.
Beautiful no matter the weather. Worth the hike and drive.
Beautiful hike. loved seeing the falls but the trail was my favorite. easy hike as well
The hike and the falls were beautiful. Nice easy hike.
A lovely waterfall! Easy sort hike from the trailhead, a bit crowded so don’t expect to commune with nature in this one.
The most vibrant falls in the Olympic national park. Really beautiful. It is a short, easy hike through lush forest to get there. Hike takes about 20-25 minutes one way.
Beautiful small hike upto to the falls. A must visit when in Olympic National Park. Some days it can get a bit crowded so plan to reach early morning or right before sunset.
Absolutely stunning! It is just a small hike probably a mile to the falls.Should not be missed. Beautiful forest as well.
Nice trek and good view of falls
Its a short, easy walk to the falls. Definitely worth the stop if youre going to be in the area.
Decent place to stay. Privacy is hard to be found. Proximity to the Hot Springs and to the high divide loop is perfect.
Favourite place in Olympic National Park
Phenomenal waterfalls. Can’t tell explain the beauty in words. It’s quiet a hike but can be done by everyone who doesn’t need assistance. The hike is worth the view. Amazing falls with lot of mist you can feel standing right next to it. Beautiful trails around. Extremely green & serene place. Beware of wildlife & take precaution as suggested by rangers. A great spot for hike & scenery.
Awesome stop and beautiful views.
Easy hike and sooo worth it.
An easy hike to nice falls. They are not great but the short hike to the falls make it worth the effort.
Gorgeous! Awesome! I loved this waterfall. We enjoyed the short hike.
Just a delightful, beautiful walk.
Just takes a short easy hike to get to some pretty impressive falls. You can get really close and take pics from lots of different spots around the falls. Unfortunately it’s inside Olympic NP, so the $30/car entrance fee will apply, but would say it’s worth it!
Absolutely gorgeous - highly recommended. There are actually three separate falls, a big set of three falls, one tall thin fall into the canyon and where lovers Lane meets the Sol Duc trail, a rolling, shorter fall. See all three!
Incredible waterfalls and the hike to the falls is just as beautiful. Try to go during a not busy time when I went there were so many photographers with tripods off the trail it was awful. I continued on the trail to deer lake which was really beautiful and only moderately difficult.
Great place to recharge after camping/hiking in the ONP!
Such a beautiful easy little hike! No dogs allowed, but other than that it was perfect!
Stunning. Saw a black bear near the front of the trail.
Beautiful! Short enough for kids to do and impressive trees for everyone to enjoy
Nice pleasant walk, could get a little crowded. The view is worth it!
So pretty, easy walk, nice groomed trails. We went in week, probably crazy on weekends!!
Wonderful hike! Very quick 1 mile hike out to the falls!
The smaller falls is spectacular!
Beautiful view and beautiful hike
Beautiful hike to a beautiful triple falls.
Beautiful and amazing falls!!
