Trail was great until the landslide. The landslide trail is VERY narrow and a lot steeper than it looks in photos. I attempted to cross it but one wrong footing would of made me slip down from the cliff. So I had to turn around. Would absolutely not recommend to being any dogs to have them cross the landslide if you dont want them to slip down the cliff. Please wear proper hiking shoes because regular tennis or outdoor shoes will not help your foot grip onto the gravel while attempting to cross. Be extra cautious and think twice before bringing kid(s) to this trail.
This is a difficult hike with a very steep incline but it’s well worth the effort. I would highly recommend hiking sticks the incline and decline can be murder on your knees. At the trailhead there are bathrooms, picnic tables and plenty of parking. There is one part of the trail that is on a landslide and it can be scary but just exercise extreme caution we had no problems crossing and I’m terrified of heights. The views from the peak are incredible.
Like others mentioned, the landslide seems pretty treacherous. I’m very much a beginner and I think the “moderate” rating of this hike is either disheartening or misleading, but I made it up and back escaping with only very achey, shaky legs. Steep inclines and declines granted, it was quite a rewarding day, with amazing views and a neat lil cabin at the top.
DANGER!!! Trail is washed out by a landslide halfway up. Super dangerous to cross. Not worth risking your life for a view. Theres other hikes in the area thatll give you a nice view without the danger.
Lake Crescent area is absolutely beautiful. We had luck finding this great trail that goes up the mountainside next to the lake, and ends up at an old hut that I believe was used for watching out for fires during the WW II. The trail is well-kept and easy to walk, there is some elevation but the views up top over the lake are definitely worth it.
Lots of tree branches from the last wind storm but the walk around the lake was still breath taking
Very challenging landslide area, but has great views.
Fairly pretty hike. It passes across a landslide about 2 miles in that gives a stunning view, but is slightly dangerous.
The veiw
Easy parking, toilet and a dock with a view!
