Get ready for the athletic Salmon season starting late July until early November. Patience will pay you back with a nice experience. Water is clear to see the Coho Salmon swimming before heading to the big leap. You can swim in some spots but watch out for current. There is a short trail from the viewing platform that is interesting to check out.
Absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately did NOT make it in time to see the salmon run [second week of november] theres not really a hiking trail here, just an observation deck and a little opening with rocks by the river. There is a bathroom nice and clean with hand sanitizer!!
This place was fabulous! Not far from the road at all and you can watch many salmon attempt to make the jump over the Raging waterfall. I was even lucky enough to see a very large one make it! Unbelievably exciting.
When recent rains raised the water level of Salmon Cascades the activity of the returning salmon was thrilling. You could barely count to 10 before seeing more action from one or more salmon attempting to jump and clear the powerful rushing water.
Great spot. Easy in and out. During the slow season that is.
Well spaced area for a quick dip in the river. We didnt see any salmon or trout, but it would have been cool to witness them coming upstream.
Fantastic experience, definitely go there to see the salmon swim upstream.
Perfect spot to visit from the last week of September through the end of October to watch salmon jumping up the river
Great place to shot pictures & right off the road
This waterfall is very pretty. The water is beautiful and clear enough to see to the bottom. The forest around the water is also gorgeous. This waterfall is not very busy, we were the only ones there in late July.
Havent been there when the Salmon are running, but it is very Beautiful place.
Beautiful set of cascades surrounded by a lovely forest. We visited not during the salmon season but we still saw fish and the displays were very informative. I can imagine how incredible this would be to visit during the salmon run. This area is right off the road and easy to walk around and navigate. Parking lot and bathrooms.
Beautiful cascading waterfalls allowing salmon to return to the river in which they were born in order to spawn, while giving us the chance to watch them attempt to do it from close at hand!
Ive always wanted to see salmon swimming up a waterfall. Here, we actually saw them.
Very fast moving water.
The river is up and the salmon are active!
Beautiful park
Beautiful !
Beautiful as usual in Washington preserves. Not one fish of any kind or I would have given a 5 stars
Such a pretty outlook and fun rocks to climb down. Wild strawberries! Excellent little leg stretch
Be sure to stop and check out the falls. Great views of the beautiful Sol Duc River and a very tranquil spot. Look for fish down below the falls in the crystal blue water.
Weve all seen the desparate struggles of the salmon leaping up impossible cascades in documentaries. Fascinating to see in real. Other wildlife around. Popular.
So beautiful! A little busy with people but nice and easy to get to if you dont want a hike.
Lots of water at the Salmon Cascades complete with Salmon jumping the Falls. This is a must see. We may have been a week or so late but we were not disappointed today. They are still jumping!
Beautiful
So beautiful here !!
Mid-October was a great time to visit this viewing area over the Sol Duc River -- the color change was in full swing and the salmon were trying their best to fight the heavily running river. We were in awe of the large Coho salmon attempting what seemed to be an impossible height. As an east coaster, this was a unique experience!
Caught it at just the right time to see salmon flailing around trying to make it upstream (late September just before sunset). Great spot to stop at if in the area.
Beautiful. Didnt see any salmon because it wasnt the right season. Still lovely to look at the river.
Salmon Cascades is a fun stop in the Olympic peninsula. Great place to bring kids, or anyone really, who is interested in seeing the Salmon migration up the Olympic peninsula. Watching the salmon jump out of the water and up the river is a bit surreal. No matter how many times you are it on TV- its a totally different experience first hand. Hard not to feel bad for the poor salmon as they work so hard to make their way to the spawning grounds and die shortly after. Or seeing them smack themselves senseless on the rocks. But such is life, and this is a great life experience!!
This place is a quick little walk off the road to see a beautiful small falls...and when the fish are jumping up stream to spawn...a great place to sit and watch thier epic adventure!!!
We went in the early spring. There is a pit toilet and 25 yard interpretive trail with a viewing platform. Step off the trail, however, and climb around next to the river. Its like entering a different, magical world for a few hours. Enjoy!
A fun place to watch salmon migrate up the Sol Duc River. Today there were dozens of salmon in the ponds waiting for rain to raise the river and facilitate jumping up the falls. A few were jumping unsuccessfully.
Beautiful and peaceful. Great to see the salmon, although they were not jumping that day.
Really pretty area and drive. Got to see some salmon jumping even though it was mid November.
Its a nice stop but you must come during salmon spawning season to see the salmon. It has a restroom but its super dirty
Short walk to the cascade. Worth the stop.
Very fun and cool!!! Easily accessible from the parking lot, and very beautiful.
You can watch up next to migrating Chinook salmon and get great selfies all day Plus these huge boulders are nice for sunning
Very pretty
Is this place for real? Oh my goodness! What a blast. This place is straight out of a fairytale. Absolutely beautiful. To be able to see the salmon spawn is an amazing sight. Id recommend it to anyone...
Beautiful!
We were amazed see that they were salmon about to spawn. Mother Nature is amazing.
Go during the fall Salmon run! You wont regret it.
Take the time to stop here!
Dont miss this stop. Great when the Salmon are running!
Perfect.
Fun to watch the salmon jump!
Saw my first salmon waiting to get the energy to jump over the little falls. Big to the fish and they looked tired. They had come a few miles up. Look for salmon in the fall or autumn and for dark patches on the rippling water. A cool and wet overlook presents the water and beauty. A small tenth of a mile or less walk to the wooden stand to view the cascade. Moss and trees and nature all over as you walk and enjoy. Bathrooms are available with parking right off the road for quick trip to see and then back into the car.
Pretty cascading falls right near the road.
Unfortunately, we didnt get a chance to see any salmon but the information displays were informative and insightful. A very easy hike off the main road.
We go here every year to see the salmon jumping. They also congregate just below in large numbers.
Not enough restrooms
Loved seeing the water go over the rocks.
Check your calendar...salmon only run at certain times. Other than that, a nice short hike with a good view of the cascades.
Awesome little stop on the way to the hot springs.
Beautiful cascading falls.
Beautiful scenery along the river
Amazing views of salmon swimming upstream and jumping up a waterfall. Need to come at the right season to see action.
Amazing emerald water.
Beautiful!
Beautiful
Easy to hike. Pretty view. Can sit next to water.
A must see when the salmon run!
Come see the beautiful pristine Sol Duc river in Olympic National Park! If you come in the fall when the salmon are running, you can see them literally fly out of the water and over the rapids on their way to their spawning beds up river! Or, just take a hike in the old growth forest around the area!
Very nice peaceful cascades even without the salmon view.
Gorgeous in the mist and rain.
Beautiful place!
Nice stop on the way to Sol Duc.
Nice stop. Pretty views. Worth the stop.
One of the best places to go n see
The poor salmon, what hard work!
Toward the end of every summer, coho salmon race up the Sol Duc River to spawn their young. Here, you can watch this drama in real time.
A must visit place. Seeing salmon going against the flow was amazing
Fantastic vantage point for viewing spawning salmon
