I loved this park, we arrived at about 3pm. Noticed the road was a dirt road and required a discovery pass, once driving past we noticed there was a whole logging crew at work on both sides of us, it was actually pretty cool to see. After a short 2-3 minute drive we arrived to the Murdock Beach access sign. There was a parking lot, restroom, and about a .1 walk to the beach. Easy peasy. Only saw two other couples while our couple hours here. Found a few beautiful agates here and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Looks like there may be camping or hunting in this area but I’d look into it. When exiting we came across a bunch of pull offs but couldn’t tell what they were used for. One of which had a deceased deer and bag laying next to it- honestly a little freaky for a city girl like me.
After a long long drive down a gravel road you approach a parking lot with a restroom. Off to the left youll see a trail head that leads down to the beach. Couple of small little walking Bridges.once you get through the lush ground-covering bushes trees you will come out to the beach. Which to me was a little disappointing. lot of murky water, rocks and logs.. nowhere to really picnic as the sign states..
I dont hate this place. Its just last on my list of destinations for visiting a beach in the area, I happen to live in the area. BRING warm clothes, always pretty cold. You need the Discover Pass. Go to Lyre River Conservatory, or Salt Creek instead!
There was a lot of sea weed on the shore and full of insects around the area but the scenery was good
Beautiful short walk through the woods. Nice, little, mostly rocky beach. A bit off the beaten path, but a nice surprise.
Awesome round rocks here, we found about 20 of them
Nice little spot. Easy trail to the beach. Requires a discover parking pass.
Not crowded, long stretch of beach
Very beautiful! Discover pass is required to park. Short, easy hike down to the beach. Tip: exit the same way you came in, the other trails are much rougher!
Logging the road to the beach and the road is tore up...
Day use, low tide muddy to your knees, GREAT walk along the shoreline. Very pretty
Wonderful area property values are going to go crazy in the near future.
A nice beach if you like rock hounding. There are fossilized crab claws to be found, as well as some agatized seashells. The beach itself is a combination of loose cobbles and soft mud, and somewhat challenging to navigate - and since it faces north at the base of a bluff, sun exposure is limited.
Great beach to explore plant fossils
Easy beach acess (about 130yards walk) well maintained trail
Fun place to beach comb and skip rocks
So Beautiful & So Relaxing! One of my new favorite beaches on the peninsula!!! Beach combing for agates and marine fossils here is highly productive... Even the newest of beginners will leave with a treasure!
Real easy access to the ocean
Only rating one because I wasn’t able to access this beach - the route I was directed to (Cannonball road) is on a private road with signs everywhere saying “private, no trespassing.” Can someone with knowledge of the area please clarify whether this is the appropriate road to access this beach?
Cool place to see. But with a low tide there is so much trash washed up on the shore that its pretty nasty.
What a great hidden place. Love the wooden path and the beach is beautiful, a little Ricky by beautiful
Great
Chose the wrong time to go as the tide was high, but had the beach to ourselves. Easy walk for littles, will definitely go back !
Nice walking beach with fairly easy access. Water was murkey. We didnt let the dogs swim.
This was a nice beach lots of pretty rocks an view was great
Cool. Very hidden, natural beach--may not be accessible during high tide. Its public, state parks discover pass is required. The road is *very* primitive, with ruts and potholes. Worth the trek if youre around that area.
Just to help out those that havent been. Youll need a WA discover pass to park and enter the beach. You can purchase one online without any advance and just write down your number, so dont worry. But internet is non-existent here so its best if you do it on the main road or earlier. Google maps will take you down the wrong road at the very end, dont go down the private street with all the no trespassing signs, take the next street instead and follow the signs. The road is rough and I wouldnt recommend it if Its raining at all as it has some steep dirt roads. Its an ok beach for the area, plenty of rocks and life around. Great view of the Salish sea. Lots of rotting sea life had washed up that day, so we needed to wash the kids hands a lot afterwards. I hear its a great beach for agate finding, but the we couldnt manage it with small kids. The beach is about 15 ft from the tree line to the water so its fairly narrow. Still it was a very pretty view.
Not what I was expecting but had GREAT views.
Found lots of great fossils and beautiful rocks on this beach.
Short walk from the parking lot, and a beautiful transition of the forest meeting the ocean. Good times
Great beach for beach combing
Quiet and beautiful!
Smelly. Dangerous.
Camp for a unique individualistic riverside experience
Good beach.
Dank and dark with the sea mist bringing scents of things dead and dieing.
The road to get here is terrible, but awesome location!
Breathtaking
Pretty
Bring rubber boots.
Lots of tide pools
Beautiful place
