If your clining the mountain it gets pretty steep about a mile in. Very pretty and well worth it.

I love Gibson Jack. Ive hiked, ridden my mountain bike here and ridden my horses here. :) It is beautiful. Do be careful though, there are moose that commonly live in this area. People have been attacked bad enough to be sent to the ER here. I have been charged and got lucky. So be careful and make plenty of noise as you head down the trail to hopefully scare the moose away from you.

It is absolutely beautiful and great for training horses to go over creeks

You have your choice of several trails that wind through the hills and cross small streams. Moose and dear frequent this area. Some trails are hiking biking only, others are multi use.

Beautiful hiking area with multiple trail options. Trailhead and trails are clearly marked. Parking space is ample, restroom available in the parking lot. Lovely little place to get up in the hills for a while.

11/18/2019. The kids had a day off school, so we hiked the gibson jack trail loop. It was around 9 miles, took us over 4 hours, and some of the trail was muddy but it was a perfect day for the hike and even the 12 and 15 year old had a great time.

Love this trail. Recommend taking Upper Gibson and cooling down with a trip down through lower. Lower is easy going, save a few uphill stints, but the upper gets pretty gnarly. A hard hike with your bike is worth it for the downhill ride through the upper trail, but it can get technical at times.

Great trail. The lower areas are beautiful and cool with increasing heat and challenge as you go up. Took the kids here and had an amazing hike.

Many different options for being outside, from walking the dog to mountain biking. Also theres the ability to do some off-roading in your car. Because of all the availability, its pretty busy, so not the best place to get away.

Great hiking close to the city. Be aware of wildlife, known for moose sightings. Just be careful as you dont want to get between a mouse and get calf.

We often travel from Montana to SLC, a 7 hour drive. This is one of our favorite places to stop and take a pretty hike. Pocatello would be a great place to live, if you love hiking.
