This county in park is located in between Plainfield and Camby, and is reasonably close to the west side of Indianapolis and the airport. This is my personal go to even I just have a few hours and want to get in a pleasant, easy three mile hike (about the farthest you can go here). The trails are fairly flat and provide good shade. Ive never felt like the park was too crowded even on weekends.
Have lived in the area for about 10 urs passed the place a million times and never went. About 2 weeks ago my 10 yrbold son and 3 yr old German Shepherd for a hike was amazing. Wemt today to fish was also amazing. We will definitely be more regulars now!!!
Very nice clean beautiful nice clean trails the lovely park nice place to walk jog be romantic take a loved one especially if you like nature its the place to be
If you like photography you love this place set your camera out for Birds need a big lens but theres plenty of them there but she on the walk path
Pleasant small park with some short, animal labeled trails, and accompanying posted maps. A few, well separated, rather clean picnic benches are available, a small pond, and I believe a gazebo.
Beautiful well designed trails. The trails were clean, brush was cleaned up, lots of nature and wildlife. The entrance is easy to miss, so drive slowly down the winding county roads to make it to this little nature park. From the start of the trail it took me a little over an hour, at a regular pace with frequent stops to admire the scenery and take pictures, to complete the outer trail that loops back to the main entrance. Lots of doggy bag stations and a couple trash cans. No watering fountains on the nature trails so bring water. Picnic area has lots of nice views and plenty of places to sit. The lake is huge and gorgeous, with plenty of quiet spots to go fishing.
Clean park with a nice mix of paves and dirt trails. Great way to spend a couple of hours.
Absolutely beautiful. I didnt have a chance to see the place but took the unpaved path through the woods. It was amazing. Definitely recommend. I also love how clean the place is.
Had a good time walking the trails. Thought it would just be a short walk around a pond, but there were several trails to choose from. Good free choice close to Indy.
Beautiful trail along the lake. Great for a “hike” with young kids. Discovered all sorts of mushrooms, toads, and other wildlife. Currently the only restroom option is two Porta Johns. Would be nice to get something more permanent. There’s a nice covered picnic table area and a dock for folks to fish from.
Nice big park. Lots of trails to get lost on. No cycling on them unfortunately, but jogging is fine. The lake area was perfect for picnic.
Another one of my favorite parks. They have a nice trail for wildlife viewing (deer, beavers, birds, and bats). They also have a beautiful pond that is catch and release. Be sure to take the kids
This park is great, covered picnic tables, tables out where you can sit alone, a wonderful dock with a picnic table so you can sit and enjoy the lake, trails to enjoy nature.. really a great place to relax with friends or family. I Loved it!
Beautiful, well kept park. Very easy to hike and well marked paths.
So much fun great for the family. Just wish we could ride bikes
Nice park and place to visit. If youre going for fishing at least the few times Ive been everytime the weeds were so bad it was difficult to fish. Another time there were so many people there no matter where I went someone would end up standing 5 feet from me shortly and Id be stuck casting straight in front of me only.
Sad and not happy that one day after I left this park to get some food and go back to park that someone did some doughnuts in the parking lot. Otherwise, people need to respect people who have a park like this for everyone. Great paths in sun and woods. Picnic tables and benches everywhere and shelters for rent. Fishing is catch and release. They recently added signs of what trees, fish and wildlife are present at their location.
This is a pleasant park offering a fishing reservoir with a dock, unpaved trails and picnic area.I have seen deer, squirrel, owls, pileated woodpeckers, and other wildlife and birds. There is a port-o-let if needed, but no permanent facilities at this time. There is no playground equipment at this time.I would recommend this park for picnicking, fishing, walking and running.
Fishing was good. Large variety of fish from Striped Bass to Bluegill / Sunfish.Could use hand washing stations and drinking fountainsUnable to comment on other parts of the park.
Awesome place to walkGreat dog trailNo bikes to run you over
Beautiful park! We enjoy walking there!
Nice easy walk, some trails could get muddy if there after a rain or snow. Could see a lot of the terrain today since the leaves are not out yet. There were no maps available and that would have been helpful to calculate how far and where you have walked. Nice lake and picnic area.
Its nature with beautiful Trails what more can I say
It was nice just did some fishing. Sorry didnt take any pictures though.
Awesome place to come to walk around and relax.
Beautiful park. Love the wildlife.
Was beautiful and great place to walk, take bug spray. Had a wonderful walk
Great place to walk with family, two legged and four legged members, clean, well kept, and stocked with pop bags and toilet paper in the restrooms
This is my FAVORITE place to go for a walk! Absolutely gorgeous with plenty of trails through the woods, fishing available in the pond, and covered seating areas overlooking the pond. Whether you want a short trail visible from a bench for your kids to ride bikes, a longer hike on the walking trails, or simply a quiet place to relax, this is the perfect place!!!
Beautiful trails was quiet and peaceful
Nice little park. Flew my drone, plenty of obstacles to practice around.
Clean park. Fished and grilled out. One of our favorite family spots.
Great place for a stroll through nature.
Whenever I come home I make sure I come here. Lovely park.
Great park if you want away from crowd.
Amazing trails. Has multiple loops ranging from .5 mile up to about 2.5miles.
Fishing here is garbage and the pond is covered in algae. Does have a dock with picnic table and a trail.
Truly e joyed walking geese trails. Its a beautiful place to be with yourself.
Beautiful peaceful place
Always love walking the trails with my woman. Saw a couple deer tonight. Pond could use some cleaning up. Trails are clear finally. Could use a few more trash cans. Those that are there need emptied more often. The place is pet friendly. Would be 5 stars if trash was taken out more often.
Had a small wedding, it was beautiful there, nicely done
Very nice park to walk.
Long hiking trail, short asphalt path along the pond. Lots of fishing spots.
Short trails but well managed, can be really muddy during wet seasons; really gives you a glimpse into the outdoors within distance of downtown. Lots of woodpeckers and birds within the park.
Gorgeous nature walk.
Very nice trails
Was ask to leave over a necklace by the dnr
Great trails with the kids.
Nice park for hiking and fishing
Great place to experience nature. Very nice trails.
Clean, well preserved trails.
Nice place to walk with the family
Nice little spot to fish or just walk the trails and unwind. There is no playground equipment, this is strictly a nature park. But I would still bring my toddler here to roam around and play in the grass.
Several trails and picnic locations. Limited fishing areas especially good for kids.
Always our choice of a nature park to enjoy. Its always so peaceful and beautiful!
This place is great if you want to go take a walk or run. You can bring your dog. You can go fishing. The only thing I didnt like is that there are no maps of the trails.
Good trails.
No luck fishing. Had a great time. Saw some huge snapping turtles and a lot of fish. Its a really nice place to spend time!
Great place thats close by and makes you feel far away
Beautiful quiet trails with a fishing lake
Beautiful nature park.
Beautiful park. Wish we had more time here. Way bigger than meets the eye. Paths were very wet in some places. Might wanna build pathway up higher than terain
Nice walk check the map before you go in so you dont get lost
Awesome trails!
Trails were well tended and clean aside from visitors who occasionally leave their pets mess along the trail. Other than that the trails where clear of dead wood and low hanging brush. It was a very pleasant walk with a nice assortment of wild flowers you can see in the spring.
Great trails and picnic area! There are a lot of shaded areas. Birds are plentiful. I have not seen much wildlife here. I will visit again sometime.
Great time
So pretty and quiet! Love taking the kids and our German shepherd out to run and be a part of the nature for awhile!
Another cool nature park with trails you can get lost in. Clean quiet peaceful.
Went with boyfriend too just sit and talk
The lake gets herons, the fronds get orb weavers and there are so many wild mushrooms to hunt in the decaying areas of the trail. Go check it out. Also, bring a book for the little library and hike in long sleeves. Lots of mosquitos in the summer.
Wonderfull time great sights great place to bring children the trails are just perfect
Beautiful park setting in a wider area that truly needed one. Not enough public places SW of Indy for a quick hike. They did a good job here with maintained trails that feel like youre in a larger forest. Nice picnic tables and shelter around lake.
Lovely place for relaxing!
We love to walk the trails at this park. The picnic area is nice as well.
Great place to go out for a mini hike or out for a run/jog or spending quality time with family/friends in the Indy metro area out in nature! Very secluded from urban life except a few airplanes flying by here and there. But overall an amazing nature park to go visit and keep coming back.
Nice place to nature walk winter or summer.
Amazing nature park, with an awesome variety of walking paths to fit different individuals needs! My only issue is the over growth of slime/weeds in the lake, and lack of places to fish from. Please make more places to access the lake. I love the atmosphere there, and have spent time here after my mom died. Its a very good place to think, get away for a bit, or have a family outing! If the lake was slightly better, I would give 5 stars!*Update-the lake slime/weed growth is* being taken care of! 5 stars!*Id like to add, if you follow Hendricks County Parks on FB, youll find amazing events held at Sodalis!!! Edible plants, indigenous plant sales in the Spring, painting, hikes that point out different animal tracks, way too many cool things to list! Go out, and enjoy!!
Beautiful place
A great place to walk, there are no bicycles allowed on the trails. The trails are more of a nature hike than a paved path.
The love of nature
This is a great free park! We went with a small group and took a nice hike on the deer trail i believe. One of our favorite locations we have visited.
Wonderful walks. Not crowded. Scout loved it.
We love this place.....but it was sooooooo dirty. Dogs running loose. Not the best visit.
Its a very peaceful place, if you want to get away for awhile.
Great place. Very clean and a nice lake
I love this park for walking trails it has 7 or 8 that intertwine. There is also a picnic area and a pond. Some people fish in it. I dont think it looks very good to be fishing in. No playground, so mostly for a picnic or walking trail, dog walking type place. No building w bathroom, but about 4 portolets.
Nice place for trails and get togethers. Just needs a good playground
Love this park, nice trails, variety of trails. This os one of our favorite parks when we want to stay local and just go on a mild hike. No park for the kids but its be nice if they added something. Great pond/lake to fish in!
