Location ideal for me and park is mostly well maintained. Missing several benches and at least 3 light poles but still a ice park.

Western Star Park is a great family park at the base of South Mountain in Ahwatukee on 44th Street and Western Star just north of Elliot. Its a great place to bring the family. They have a large grassy area to play games and to walk the dogs. They also have a childrens play area with nice sturdy modern equipment. The thing I like about this park is that it has a bathroom. It also has grills, a basketball court, many many picnic tables, a baseball area, a volleyball court, a tennis court and a lots of park benches under the shady trees. The city just planted 20 more trees in this park. Its usually pretty clean but today it seems like theres a lot of trash cans turned over which could mean that there were javelinas in the park.. yes. If you come in the evening you will see a few coyotes lingering since its at the base of South Mountain and maybe in the middle of the night the javelinas come to snack. Its in a great neighborhood though. It is very safe and secure although I have seen a few druggys hanging out once in a great while. Its a great community place. Ive lived here 24 years and I come to the park every day to walk my dogs. I feel very lucky to have this park just a block from my house. Today a group of soccer players have set up camp and earlier I saw some cricket ball players practicing. Its also home to other little league teams playing different sports. Rick Metzner is the hardest working employee the city of Phoenix has. His mission was to keep the card green. He had to really do some investigating as to why the sprinklers werent working and he found out that the valve line was cut by pranksters. This guy is out here sweating and toiling everyday. The City of Phoenix got a fantastic employee to keep this park pristine. Come visit and take advantage of a great city park.

Quiet Ahwatukee area park for walking, tennis, play fields or just chill and enjoy the moment.

Nice grassy park with mature shade trees

One of the older city parks in Ahwatukee. Some tennis courts and a play structure, but not much else. The views of the sides of South Mountain are splendid.

I like how clean the park is, there could be more stuff to do for smaller children (4 and under), but the playground for the bigger kids was nice. Big open areas and plenty of room for whatever outdoor activity you want to engage in. Added bonus for separate garbage and recycle cans, conveniently located by parking and gazebo areas, and wheelchair accessible benches under the gazebo.

Pretty boring needs more things to do

Great park. Great playground. PicNick tables. Tennis courts, baseball backstop, sand volley ball, jungle gyms. Swings. Etc. Big grass field is kinda lumpy, lots of holes... be careful when just running through the grass, cuz you GONNA roll an ankle....

Lovely neighborhood park with plenty of parking and picnic tables. Restrooms are stainless fixtures- practical butt yucky. Did some yoga among the pines, very nice and meditative...sure seemed like the trees were happy to have me, lol.

Its a good park in a good area. Plenty of amenities for a family. Bring your dog(s) because theres no reason to go to the park without them.

Its good for a city park. The bathrooms are disappointing, but theyre pretty standard for park bathrooms.

Nice fun park for kids and an outdoor gym

This is a great park for walking your dog or playing a friendly game of soccer...sans goals ;) The tennis courts are usually available, although they definitely need resurfacing. The atmosphere is safe and quiet. Theres a bathroom and water fountains, just make sure to bring a bowl for your dog as there is no low dish for your animal. You will see lots of rabbits and quail, as well as the occasional coyote from nearby south mountain. You can get to a trail head nearby through the neighborhood.

No sand here but nice grassy area. Tennis courts are a bit worn but are just fine. Lights can be turned on at night for basketball play. Restroom is rustic but clean

It seems like a nice little neighborhood park. I just go there to fly my quadcopter because of the open space and shade to stand in while I fly.

Fun and clean, clean public rest rooms. Kids had an absolute blast here. Cant remember if grills are already there or if my friends brought their own.

This is good park overall. I would recommend it and would also go again.

Great park for adults..

Nice park, but all of the slides and stuff for the smallest kids were right under the sun with no shade, so they were way to hot to use. Toys for the bigger kids were nice and in the shade

Love this park. Huge field, new playground equipment and separate sets for toddlers and school age kids, tennis courts and basketball courts. Lots to do.

Swings, sand, a playground, a field with a walking path, tennis courts, bathrooms, a parking lot and covered picnic seating. Easily accessible but still off the main road. Its sort of magical here.

This is a good place for families to come here and have picnics, walk, play in a playground, big open grass field for playing football, fly kites, run your dogs etc. They also have a tennis court, volleyball court, basketball court. They have a large bathroom for men and women with many stalls and is always cleaned.

I grew up going to this park and its still well maintained with great views of South Mountain. Well paved walking paths circle the park and its got some courts for basketball and tennis as well as shaded picnic areas. Within walking distance of trailheads on South Mountain.

There is a sidewalk that goes around the whole Park which is good for running or walking. there are doggie bags for when your dog goes to the bathroom. there are public bathrooms. sand volleyball and a nice field for baseball or football with a backstop. 2 tennis courts in an enclosed fence. I shaded play area for kids surrounded by beauty bark. I swing set. basketball courts uh a full size or two half court ones. a couple picnic areas that are covered. I couple barbeque grills. and the lights for both the tennis and the basketball courts. there a lot of little places to go explore in the park its a good place for kids to let off some steam

Each time something breaks it just gets removed. Weve written to various authorities only to be told theres no money. Now the whole tennis courts were redone, but the rest of the playground equipment is broken and vandalized.
