This is a really nice local trail with a nice parking lot in a very nice area of town. The restrooms in the water bottle filling station at the trailhead were fantastic. The hike took us about two and a half hours and is about four and a quarter miles when you factor in the hike you have to take to get to the trail. Theres some uphill or some downhill its not too bad but it is very hot when the sun is beaming. There were a few times when the wind was whipping but for the most part it was pretty dry and hot. bring plenty of water and make sure you follow the well mark trail signs or you could easily end up on a different trail.
Second cleanest park bathrooms Ive ever seen! (The first was in Death Valley) The trails are well kept and provide excellent views of the North Phoenix valley. You can hike 10+ miles if youd like, or just go out for a 1-5 mile hike. Plenty of parking, but best to go around sunrise to guarantee a place during the cooler months.
Easily paced with great view. Great for beginners, highly trafficked but the hike is quite nice and can be as long as you want it. Great for mountain biking and trail running.
Completed the Dixie Mountain Loop and it was a great way to start a Sunday morning. Lunch at Paneras at Nortera afterwards only added to the fun!
A bit in between moderate hike. Loved the scenery and air balloons everywhere.
Not too crowded and good topography.
Amazing trail! Great workout, beautiful wildflowers and cacti! Even an old rusted out car that had fallen off the edge is about halfway through trail D! I love this hike and will definitely go again!
Very clean area. Drove a few mins out of the city and arrived in a much less noisy, except for the occasional small plane, hilly area with easy hiking. Pretty busy area. People coming for a fast hike then speeding back to the city, I presume. There was a tiny ASU ecology class here identifying plants and trees. Crisp, February morning makes for a perfect hike.
I found one looked like a hand giving the,,
Really nice trails to hike and a couple to choose from. Dog friendly and not crowded.
No sasquatch this time
Very beautiful hike. It takes me about 2-3 hours to complete. I would rate it an intermediate beginner hike due to the distance and because of some bit of uphill there. Nothing too scary though or technical- just gentle ups and downs. If you go early enough- closer to 7-8 am, you can see the hot air balloons taking off into the skies. (I think they only do this though when its cooler weather and dont think they do it during the summer. (?))
Awesome trail!! Scenic and not crowded during week...not sure about weekend. Look for the Great Horn Owl nesting in a saguaro on your way up!!!
Amazing trails
Nice views, good signage, rocky but well maintained.
Nice trail for a short hike...
Desert Vista is an easy trail, good for walks or bikes. Pretty views. A good trail for beginners. The trails do loop around and intersect multiple times. Keep a map, or just watch the hill tops to keep your bearing. You must bring in your own water.
Great place with different kinds of trails to explore. Time your hike to catch nice sunsets. Dog friendly. Parking lot is not huge, but sizeable.
Great classic desert hiking close to the city. Watch for rattlers
Great trail for MTBing or hiking...
I am so happy to find this trail in my neighbourhoodThis is good for everyone ...be it family ..be it individual
Beautiful trails, lots of mountain bikers so keep an eye out for them. Bikers cant always slow down quickly on loose terrane.
This is a great place to hike. Well, maintained trails and plenty of signs so you dont get lost. Beautiful scenery all around.
This is one of my favorite hikes - the loop is about 4 miles and it is overall a very easy hike - though there can be a few challenges that might rise to the classification of moderate if you climb on of the spur trails to the top of one of two mountains. Well worth the time. Some wildlife spotting opportunities mostly birds hawks and there is an amazing horned owl nest on the hike to the loop.
Truly a hidden gem. Most of the trails have a out of town feel to them. You wont see any buildings or hear any traffic most of the time.
Clean restrooms, well marked and maintained trails
What a wonderful preserve! Simply fantastic! Watching the hot air balloons raise and fall was quite relaxing and its all at our doorstep. Get out there today (unless its 110)!
Dixie Mountain Loop and summit was a lovely 5+ mile hike. We really enjoyed this very pristine hike so close to town. Well maintained trails and great views!
Good trails great views.
Great terrain for cycling or walking.
It was nice to day but a few other times people had their cars broken into.
Nice variety of trails, good views. Can ride horses, ride mountain bikes, jog, walk, all ages...
Good 4 mile loop to run without any steep inclines. Nice views
Excellent local trailhead! Great views and great workout, simple as that!
