This is the smoothest crossing of all the bridges in the area. When I hear of accidents, I wish they would specify how it happened. Just stay in your lane, barring mechanical failure, it must be the knuckleheads trying to lane hop to get out in front of traffic.
It has a great view of Philadelphia and the stadiums in South Philly. But, people drive like crazy and the toll is pricey.
They should maintain the bridge one side first finish it . Than them the other side .. they creating too much traffic .
Not as dilapidated as the Tacony Palmyra bridge which received a frightening score of 30 out of 100 for safety. So I travel the extra 10 mins so dont risk spending eternity at the bottom of the Delaware river.
Love being on this bridge you can see the whole city of Philadelphia and the river
Its a 5.00 bridge. 4 lanes so its decent.
Well when you need a bridge to cross the Delaware its always there for you!
Not crowed and well maintained
There is almost always some type of slowdown due to maintenance.
Living as a kid at the Navy Yard in 1978 - 79 when my father was stationed there, I could see this bridge out of my bedroom window - lit up at night and thought it very cool.40 years later, I can Google Review it.AWESOME!
Very large and intriguing bridge to say the least . It spends a large mass you can oversee the city at all angles of the bridge. The views are to see!! This bridge is free into New Jersey. When you are coming out of jersey into Philadelphia there is a $5 Dollar Toll. Thanks DRPA!!
The bridge is average price compared to the others around. It gets you right into the philly area in the southern part. A lot of lanes were opened and they excepted ez pass and cash so the traffic flows decent.
God forbid you hand them bills that arent crisp and flat because if theyre wrinkled up and a mess you are going to get a lashing. My bills were actually handed back to me and I was told to meeting them up. I should have asked if it was free today, took the cash back and kept going LOL. Very much a bridge with attitude.
This engineering marvel called the walt whitman bridge is something everyone needs to look at more closely. It glistens in the sun and glows in the moonlight. It connects new jersey and pennsylvania while the delaware river flows below it. You can see it for miles and is very tall and majistic!
Freshly painted and kept clean roadways.
It would easily be 5 stars if i didnt hate bridges... ALL bridges.... however its not an issue of loyalty that i vote 4/5; the view crossing the Walt is quite beautiful if your lucky enough to drive across at that perfect and RIGHT time of the even...
This mint green suspension bridge bears the namesake of the well-known poet who made his home in Camden over a century ago. It is the easiest way to reach the airport, Sports Complex and South Philly in general from Jersey. Do yourself a favor and avoid this bridge when the Eagles are playing, it is not uncommon to see traffic backed up past the 76/676 split in NJ.As a young boy who had moved from Port Richmond in Philly to Gloucester City, I would often look up at this huge bridge and wonder where exactly in Philly it went. It is not open to pedestrian traffic so I was never able to walk across and find out, instead relying on occasional glimpses from my parents car when visiting family. Nowadays I usually just drive over the Ben to get to Center City or the Northeast.
Does the job. Passable bridge. Would cross again.
Good access to interstate.Scenic views
Awesome views and knowing ill be in new jersey in a couple minutes!
I love this bridge. Without it Id have to swim or boat to work each day!
Great view of the city at night.
Ive been using ot for years!but i was catering a party of 34 wirh was a surprize birthday on the Freedom Elite ship!!
What are you charging so much for?? I really don’t understand why it’s necessary to charge $5 to cross a doggone bridge!!
Great for crossing over water!
Its a safe bridge :-)
My favorite suspension bridge spanning the Delaware River.
Its a bridge? It cost to much to cross but is an engineering wonder like all bridges.
Stuck on the bridge for over an hour today
Ugh. Traffic lanes closed during rush hour? WTH??
I had to review a bridge. You go over it and come back. Sometimes theres traffic and sometimes theres not.
Tar in the Gums-my review of every tollWhat can 4 dollars, 10 dollars, or 40 dollars buy you?Well, for some people itsgroceries or helping to pay rent. Commuting from one city to another is liking seeing a far distant brother.Just making it over there by car shows some wealth that isnt being used for actual good health.Greetings in smiles as you hand over a bill that occasionally wonders if the amount is what is exact to complete a pass of no good will.No alternative routes.Trapped in one county. And if you think youre Han Solo and fly past them, expect a bounty so high on your head you would have to monthly pay out your own ransom. If youre handsome or seen as attractive, they might let you pass without paying. So disgusting is the message that sends me.“I could sure go for a sandwich!” Says one in the car. Except now Im afraid the toll’s teeth poisoned the cookie jar.How is this the city of brotherly love? I know poor people who cant commute across the free land. The first roads you even enter this city are trash. Employees make eye rolls for taking our money. Let Congress tear down these walls of in courtry commute.
We went up one side and then we went down the other in the truck we didn’t walk it or anything
Who would give a bridge that people spent years building anything less than 5 stars. Engineering marvels.
Its a bridge that gets you from Philly to NJ. Sometimes there is traffic.
One of the Gateway to the City of Brotherly Love.
The view is awesome
Long stretch, nice overall view
Crazy traffic... 4 seperate major highways, chaos from 3-6 Mon through Friday
Every time I want to leave Jersey and see the Fly Boyz, Watch the Birds Fly, Phillies Slugem, or Sixera dunkem, I have to cross this iconic landmark to enter the city. Many memories include the Walt. Free to cross going into New Jersey but you have to pay to leave the state. As of 2018 its $5. Its well worth it though. Cant cross unleas you pay or drive way far north.
Was not on Bridge work under the bridge on the docks
On the other side of the bridge there is an amazing bakery called Del Bonos
Its the only bridge I choose to drive on. Keep up the good work!
Its gets you from Jersey to Philly
Got turned around this weekend in West Philadelphia. The directions I got from Google Maps led me directly to the Walt Whitman Bridge.
Great view
Fast and easy to use
Great views of Philly
Bridge that connects South Philly to South Jersey. Has decent enough amount of lanes and offers a good view of the surrounding area. Can get congested sometimes, especially during rush hours and summer weekends.
A bridge that you have to pay 5 dollars every time you go to Philadelphia. Expensive and needs work. It look like no one has maintained that bridge for decades. 5 dollars what a joke!
No walking or cycling allowed. Walt Whitman, who wrote a poem about long-distance walking, would be ashamed.Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road,Healthy, free, the world before me,The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose....
A smooth ride from Atlantic City Expressway onto bridge to get to 95 and south Philly
Best bridge to get to Pennsylvania from New Jersey
Quickest route into the city
The Walt Whitman Bridge is a Magnificent Structure. It is aboultly Amazing.
Its a beautiful monolithic structure. Intimidating at first being from Virginia. Not as long and high as I previously thought.
I love driving over and looking at the view in the summer time. & winter time with all the snow covering everything.
Smooth drive !
Its a bridge. I am glad it was made as it gets me to and from work everyday.
Been driving on it for many years.
Clear and smooth driving
Bridge from the south philly sports complex into New Jersey and all points N and South. I give it 3 stars because if u get a flat tire or anything that makes it necessary to stop on the bridge, you have honestly about 60 seconds to figure it out and fix it or the DelRiverPortAuthority Police will come up, make sure ur not a crazy person (which is good) but then theyll make u get a tow across the bridge, literally just to the other side. A few thousand feet, then the tow truck hands you a bill for $85 bucks for that .2mi. Its insane really. Ur better off asking the cop to push ur car accross. Least they are on their game.
10/10 would drive over again
It gets me where I need to be
I didnt fall in the water which is highly valuable to me when I travel on a bridge. Also my favourite view of philly
Beautiful views.
Absolutely stunning view of the bridge from highway 95
Nice bridge
Hello my love of God
Its a bridge that gets you into South Philly.
Enjoyed a lot
Beautiful location! Great for pictures
Good view, traffic sticks.
Horrible price to cross but what a beauty of a bridge
I gets me over the river
Its a bridge
Bridge can get crowded check traffic before headed over this bridge!
Few bumps, distractions
Used to cross over river from Pennsylvania to New Jersey.
Nice view specially when crossing from down.
5axle semis to PA pay 37.5
Just keep both hands on the wheel...
The traffic moves.
Its a bridge.
Its a bridge... but they did repaint it
No waiting with ez pass gates
Pay toll and go.
It be backed up a lot
High
Traffic was lite around noon
When I come to Jersey I always use the bridge, getting close to home.
Walt Whitman is the less well made bridge in Philadelphia in my opinion, it is a long bridge but its just boring! It needs extreme paint-over if you havent heard
Beautiful
No comment
Cross the bridge.
Used it for years.
