Was forced to pull over as I was driving by. The fall foliage is just magical here. Beautiful park on the river.
Near the Dell Music Center in East Fairmount is Sedgley Disc Course. This place has over 40 holes!! We had limited time and completed just 18 of them. The next day, we took a long hike/walk by following the Boxers Trail. You can use the same parking lot and find it by walking along the road past the Dell Music Center & across the intersection. Youll see the trailhead to the left. The trail takes you down to the river and then past several divergent paths leading you up to historic mansions.
Expansive Park with a variety of activities like running trails, golf driving range, etc.Can take a bit to orient yourself so definitely do some research before heading there if theres something specific you want to see or do!
Its been my sanctuary for my entire life. Walks with my brother. Bike rides with my father. Picnics with family, friend, and lovers. Watching boat races. Quiet and peace: one can become part of nature. Ive seen deer, foxes, eagles, woodpeckers, geese and ducks. The trails and fields are filled with sasapras, clover milkweed, and flowers.Theres Smith playground and Gustine Lake.Art in the form of museums, memorials and sculptures and gardens. Safe and secure a good time for all ages.
Beatiful view and beatiful people . I love to being in Philedelphia
I met up with a lot of friends in Fairmont park it was great I met a lot of friends I havent seen in 25 plus years.
ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO VISIT MY PARK.
We went at night when it wasnt as busy. The kids and husband went up the famous Rocky steps. There were some fast motorcycles running lights so it was a little hectic to get to parking. The kids had a blast.
Fairmont Park is the best place to do anything outdoor related. There are free events that take place all over the park in different places. You can come here and spend a day or just get some time to revitalize your mental state. You can partake in sightseeing or just sit and take it all in. Some places in the park you can see the skyline of Philadelphia. Other places in the park you can some of the city’s other famous land marks! If you live in Philadelphia then you already know. If you are planning to make a visit, you have to experience this remarkable adventure!
In these troubled times we all need a quiet place to relax and clear our minds. Thats the place, with a nice breeze blowing watching the squirrel s scurrying about without a trouble in the world. I wished today that I was a squirrel
Beautiful, environment to be and see. A good place to ride bike, eat outside near water, or in your car. Or a place to meditate
Great had a little picnic on the grass Enjoying the weather, breeze along the river near Boathouse row.
One of the most beautiful place to spend your time.
Beautiful park with plenty of spaces to enjoy nature. Parking is super easy. Highly recommend.
Wonderful place to just fallback, walk around, and take everything in.
Beautiful Fairmount Park it was a delightful experience to get out on the bike trail and enjoy nature at its best. A pleasant atmosphere and parking is available, restroom handicap accessible.
I enjoy running the path
Awesome spot. Great for gathering grilling fishing walking running biking hanging out as a family friends whatever
I love Fairmount Park, but it is heavily crowded these days with little social distancing. Go early and on week days to avoid overcrowding. I launch my standup paddle board nearby Temple Boathouse and its pretty chill down that way if you go before 9am.
Nice clean grounds, picnic benches, public parking, and great views.
Great for walking, running, biking and phenomenal scenery
Great place to go chill. If you like bein near water this is the spot to be. Also good spot for picture taking.
Beautiful place for riding bicycle with family.
Penny and I love the park.
Worlds best inner city park miles of trails ponds lovely all year round
Take a look around and yould think youd traveled someplace new. Its beautiful. Its city. Its natural. Loving the views!
We celebrated her 78th birthday here. Henrietta McLean
Its a nice place to get some fresh air and nature
This place it’s magic! Excellent for kids
Awesome place. Wanna go again soon.
Amazing place to zen-out. A beautiful park
Had a blast @ the Walk for MS today 5/4/2019
Fairmount Park has some historical spots still in tact. Checked out the Chamounix Hostel, then half mile away is the giant wooden slide. Several spots in this area to go on a trip for multiple hours and sightsee and take pictures. Lots of wildlife during this time out and about.
Relaxing to go fishing
This is on our top 10 list of favorite places in Philadelphia. You could explore a different trail or attraction here every weekend for a year, and still not see all that Fairmount Park has to offer. We hiked part of the Trolley Trail, starting at the Chamonix Hostel down to the Belmont Plateau. Discovered there are no longer trolley tracks. But we did spy raccoon tracks. Walking through the stone underpasses was a highlight. Beware-- the trail is very popular with mountain bikers. We had to jump off the path with our dog several times to avoid a collision with speeding cyclists.
Fairmount Park is a city park system located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. It consists of 63 parks and covers an area of 9,200 acres. The name is derived from the name of the first park in the park and was listed as a National Historic Site in 1972.Fairmount Park is the largest landscaped city park in the United States. It is dressed as a most popular park in Philadelphia by rugged creeks, lush trees, lovely animals, elegant lakes, winding trails and leisure walking paths. This colorful park is composed of a memorial hall, a Japanese garden, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Zoo, etc. So here you can visit many tourist attractions. You can also see those historic buildings, so your journey will never be singular and boring. In addition to feasting on your eyes, you can also exercise your whole body. Horse riding, boating, picnics, and frisbee golf are all essential entertainment items.
Nice place to take a walk.
This is the largest park in the greatest city of PHILADELPHIA. U name it
Really nice place to walk around in nature that is very close to the city. The peace is intermittently disturbed by the noisy traffic and especially the bikes since the trail is right next to the highway. Apart from that the river is very beautiful and you can see many birds (ducks and goose) around here. The park seems to be well maintained and there are boards explaining the history along the trail. A good place for evening walks.
It was a great experience we saw a lot of trees falling down and I love the park.
We miss the shore so we enjoy the River
Took my grandsons to ride there 4 wheelers. Plenty of riding trails
Beautiful city park along the river.
I very much appreciate this park, but I dont like the extortion by the City of Philadelphia PA when it comes to parking here. They ticket certain areas without the proper signage and they charge $15 - $30! for regatta parking when you still have to walk a half mile ( up or down a huge hill) to your destination. It just doesnt seem fair when parking is free at any other time. Just seems like a convenient set u up.
Great place to chill. No bathrooms!!!
Great place to walk and get good exercise
Very peaceful there. Specially when you need to get away and clear your head at night.
The best experience. The weather was perfect & the view was amazing. Well worth the trip! Next time I would bring lunch & bring the kids. There’s lot of space to fly kites, play frisbee & even kick ball or baseball. Awesome place !
Had a great time in the park and it was clean
I love these gardens! So many gorgeous areas to walk, sit and explore. The tropical greenhouse is my favorite place to be.Great food options and coffee. Perfect place to walk around with kids- they even have a kids garden with a watery play area. The membership is well worth it. Great spring plant sale also.
East & West River Drive are two of Philadelphias best assets.
It’s a very nice place to host an outdoor gathering. I rented the #1 Pavilion at Lemon Hill in June 2019 to celebrate my college graduation and birthday.I was never told that portable toilets were not included and that if I wanted or needed them that it was my sole responsibility to do so! That’s very poor customer service on the part of the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation! @PhilaParksandRec
The high rating is deceiving! This park is deff in the ghetto fabulous category in my book.
Always nice in the park.
I love jogging and walking here. The people are also very nice and encouraging.
Depends on where you are in the park it can be very beautiful
City has done excellent job with creating something for everyone. On and off road bike/ running paths, playgrounds, bbq areas, etc. Well maintained and clean.
Dont . XVisit much like before IIt always had me jumping.... tut tut
Great love park
Walking through Fairmount Park is one of the greatest ways to decompress from the urban jungle that is Philadelphia on just about any given day. There are plenty of trails to explore and the river trail makes a complete loop for the more adventurous trekkers. The park never gets boring.
Great! Not alot of people
It was great place
Kids love it. Always have fun. And love the bikes are there and easy to get
Great track for running by the Schuylkill.
Kelly Drive formally known as East River Drive is a beautiful place to visit all year around.
A great place for family outings!
Went to walk on West River Drive aka martin luther king today. It is nice and open not closed in with trees. There are nice people that use this part of Fairmount park.
Had family reunion here! Nice time for getting together large family! Great location! Clean area! Plenty space for letting kids run and play games! Near transportation! Gas station nearby! Near golf course and horse stable! Go and enjoy while weather nice!
Amazing riverfront park with a divided bike lane and statues along the way. Just lovely.
Hot today but being in the park is great
One of the best places to watch the sunset in Philly hands down!
Great place for a hike and a picnic. Good skyline view. The trees are great during spring.
Nice huge park within the city. There are a zoo, children museum, botanical garden, Japanese house and more. Bicycle path goes all around. Miles of good riding.
Its a beautiful place to visit
A place to think and relax, its beautiful.
Just the bathrooms, like any other public park, need more frequent attention. An actual number on weekends to reach rangers would be helpful.
Beautiful Place for Walks and History
A last minute thing turned out to be one of the most well put together cookouts in such of a short notice . Fairmont park is the place to be.
Great natural place in the heart of Philadelphia. Lots of spots to walk, enjoy nature, and see outdoor art.
Always a great outdoor moment so relaxing
It was awesome I had a ball
I grew up there and miss my hometown!!bur I wish they had water back up and running
Nice walk with the dogs but the cafe by the boat houses was way too expensive.
Love it beautiful place
I only wish there were some toilets around so the kids werent relieving themselves on trees.
Great day for rowing!
Beautiful, serene part of the city. A little escape from the hustle and bustle. If you are in need of some fresh air, take a stroll down fairmount park.
Bike riding nature beautiful views
Amazing place to explore. Great this the city of phill has kept so much green land
Fairmount park is a great place to get active and exercise. Also a good place to meditate and become closer to nature.
Great spot to tailgate and watch rowing. Will watch both of our daughters compete this weekend in the Head of the Schuykill Regatta. Many years after their Dad did the same.
Quiet and serene
