An excellent house to visit. It has been restored to its 1859 decor on the ground floor and to about 1875 on the second floor so you can see the stylistic changes. It was built as a completely modern structure in 1859 and has central heating, laid on gas, and hot water upstairs and down. The staff is very knowledgeable and provide a glimpse into upper middle class Victorian life. Well worth the time and entrance fee. If you visit in summer be sure to look through the gardens.

The mansion is awesome... I wish I can buy it. Loved the architecture and long huge backyard with a fancy metal fence... Its a great spot to shoot great pictures mainly if youre a big fan of old houses.Ebenezer Maxwells story is so interesting he went from a salesman of a wholesale drug importer to a director of a bank. Its an interesting life story and just cool family...I love history and learning about those people who left their touch.Awesome

I am proud of the rich history in Germantown. I am also proud to say that my daughter Maxine Jackson is one of the finest tour guides for the mansion.. I recommend any one looking for an historical experience of one of many in this great city of Philadelphia to visit the beautiful place....

This museum is beautiful. You can only see it by guided tours, but it is well worth it. The tour is almost an hour long yet extremely affordable. The neighborhood around the museum is also worth walking around as there are tons of historic Victorian houses around.
