Again one of the most famous attractions in Philadelphia. “The Rocky Steps”. The place is known best for its art museum, ancient structure and rocky movie lead actor shooting place. Sylvester Stalin comes running over the steps and raises his hands. Watch YouTube video when you come here and try shooting same for you. They have also monument of Rocky hero raising his hands. People queue for clicking pictures.
I came here during the night time and I climb the Rocky steps. The skyline of the city looks beautiful from up there and the museum in the background also looks spectacular. There seemed to be a lot of people gathered here as well and there was a lot of motorcycle and bikers doing tricks. I would recommend coming here at night even if its for a couple of minutes like I did.#stairs #skyline #Philadelphia #rocky #boxing
The Iconic Rocky Steps! If You Are Like Me That Grew Up Watching Sylvester Stallone Movies Like Rambo And Rocky, Running Up The Rocky Steps And Taking Pictures With The Rocky Footprints And Rocky Statue Is A Definite Must Do! It Is Amazing How Many People Visit This Location Daily To Perform These Activities. I Love It!!
It was great. The statue is off to the side. It is a must to visit when you swing down to Philly besides the cheese steaks. You will see various people out working out and yes everyone sings the Rocky theme song when going up the stairs. I suggest walking from love park to the stairs dont suggest doing it in 28 degree weather in the night but its worth it
I really like this place. Here you can see the sights of the entire city of Philadelphia, where you can see the citys City Hall. When the weather is good, sitting on the steps here is particularly pleasant, and many people come here to take wedding photos. Behind here is the largest art museum, and Philadelphia must come here.
You cannot imagine the scale of this building from the pictures. They literally dont make them like this anymore. It seems like everyone is just happy milling around as they prepare to ascend the world famous steps. A Rocky statue selfie is a must everyone. It sits at the base of the steps to the right of the museum The views of the Center City Philadelphia skyline and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway are simply astounding. One star subtracted for the good Samaritan locals who offer to take a picture of your entire group, with your camera of course, for a few bucks. Get a job guys.
Gorgeous grounds of this museum. Parking on the street and a short wall to get to the museum. Philly was such a friendly city with a great vibe. You can take a picture with the Rocky statue, but it is at the bottom of the steps and around the corner. Apparently the museum does not consider it art, but threw the fans a bone and let him stay...just tucked out of the way of the actual steps. Would love to spend a day inside the museum.
This is such an inspiring place. I’ve seen the movies and grew up on the rocky movies as a teen. Coming here and actually seeing the statue and reading the quote on the plaque brings such nostalgia and motivation. Then, I climbed the steps and turned around. The view was refreshing and exciting. Sorta makes you feel like you can conquer the world. In that moment, there was no fear I could not defeat, no obstacle I could not overcome, and no challenge I could not conquer. This was a great place to visit because you can immerse yourself in the story while taking the story and applying to your life!
Nice place but non parking close to it! The city view is beautiful!
A must visit spot in Philadelphia! It was a hot day with lots of heat. It doesn’t affect my motivation to reach to the top of the museum! It was worth the walk!!!!
If you want a historic place in the city of Philadelphia I recommend going there is the best that Philadelphia has, very nice place in the heart of the city and even more if you dress the movie rocky Balboa should go to visit that place
Must visit place in Philadelphia! Iconic Rocky Steps will make your heart beat faster. If you want to take a flexing picture with the Rocky status, prepare to wait in line for at least 20 minutes. Hint: cross the road and take a.picture sitting on one of the statues. Incredible view! You can also get a beautiful shot on top of the stairs.with Philadelphia view! Museum of Arts is open for public so feel free to visit!
72 stone steps that will take you to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, in Philadelphia. The biggest of all museums on the museums mile. The steps have become known as the Rocky Steps as a result of the scenes from the film Rocky where Rocky Balboa runs for training and finishes the run up the stairs. To commemorate the movies they put a statue of Rocky Balboa, which is situated at the bottom of the stairs. Access to the statue is OPEN AND FREE, dont be fooled by some people who pretend they work for the museum and will try to charge you for taking photos of the statue.Great views of Philly from here. Place gets lots of people at the weekend but is not a problem since there is lots of open space.Try to watch Rocky or at least clips on YouTube of Rocky running up the stairs. And when you visit the stairs, go upstairs running!Enjoy
So fun to run up the stairs but the best part is the view of Philadelphia from the top of the steps. The sculpture of G. Washington across the street is worth a look!
Im a huge Rocky fan, so this review is biased. But I would 100% recommend getting up to the steps for sunrise. The steps face eastward so you get a good view. I also circled back round for sunset and the sky turns a real nice colour and theres a tonne of atmosphere to be soaked in.Also on the top step in the centre cladding is an imprint of Rockys Converse. Hes a size 8.
See the impressionist exhibit..timeless and unforgettable. The whole gallery was amazing!
We had a blast. Stinks that they moved the statue though. The surrounding architecture and statues are amazing!
Awesome seeing this place, just as it was in the movie! The area was not overly crowded, this could be due to the afternoon hours. People were really friendly and willing to take photos for families.
This has to be the most beautiful place in Philadelphia. Is a Park/museum with beautiful views of downtown Philadelphia and is use by a lot of Hollywood movies for example Shazam and Rocky. Must visit if you are in Philadelphia.
Great place to visit near down town Philadelphia. Great place for photos. Wer walked from down town, at night. Its a comfortable walk and its well lit the whole way. Safe and clean.
Did not have the chance to go inside. There is a $20 fee for entrance. The atmosphere is good out there and lots if people enjoying their time around. I did not like the idea to pay that much while other museums are free. Dont know why the Rocky Balboa sculpture is there in art museum.
Fun to see where Rocky was filmed and to be able to stand in Sylvester Stallone’s foot steps. You do also have an amazing view from top of the stairs, so I recommend you to walk up the stairs and see it from the top of the stairs!
If you watched the Rocky movie, you definitely know what this place is and you automatically run up the steps and try to recreate the iconic training scene. When you finally reach the top of the steps, you turn around and face the city with both your hands up in victory. Look down on the ground and you a see shoe prints on the spot where Rocky stood. Its a great marketing ploy to get tourist to visit this spot. Great attraction also for the museum to get people to hang around the area. After the steps you can either check out the museum, sit around the fountain and real for a while or you down and take a pic with the Rocky Balboa Statue.
At the top of the Steps and at the Rocky statue, youll find two regulars. I dont know if they are official guides, but they help everyone regardless. Theyll tell you the usual poses and how to maximize the photo op. Of course, its free except for a recommended tip. If you dont particularly like the touristy vibe, at least you have someone who can take your photo.
The steps are fine...but the museum is incredible! Totally empty, so much room to really take your time and enjoy the amazing works of art there! The Japanese tea House was exceptional, totally serene and walks you through the process of the tea ceremony. Cant recommend coming here enough!
A fun little attraction for not so quick photo opportunities. Parking is not fun but hey... try it anyways.
Great view of the city and such an iconic place! Highly recommended. It doesnt take long either but is a nice quick and fun stop!
This is a cool place to be Rocky and run up the steps and take a pic with the Rocky statue!! Lots of pic opportunities!
I finally got to visit the steps 43 years later after the Rocky movie release. Although there are many steps up to the museum, its not that bad walking up. The view from the top is nice. The Rocky statue is located on ground level. There is a little line for taking pictures, but it moves pretty quick.
If you’re planning to go to Philadelphia, add the rocky steps to your list! Its so cook to see where the movie was filmed! You can run up the steps, see the statue, the arts museum at the top and the water fountains! Loved being here
Easy to get to. Wasnt too over crowded since it was freezing outside. A lot of cool art and statues all around to see. And of course lots of fun watching everyone reenact the iconic Rocky scene.
Too good. Not crowded. Good scenic views all around.
There can be lying to take a photo with the excellent Rocky statue. The steps are iconic and worth your walk up. Not to be missed.
Such a pretty view of the city! Great place to walk around in the sunshine or race a friend up the steps [if your into that kind of thing]
It is a spectacular place, wonderful view of the city, the dam, gardens, art and more. It is a tourist place that you can not miss during your visit to Philly. The statue of Rocky, the stairs and footprints of the famous star is something that you will surely enjoy.
This is a definite go to spot if you are visiting the Philadelphia Pennsylvania area! Run the famous steps from the move Rocky III at the Philadelphia Museum of Art! And pose for your own two-arms-raised salute next the the Rocky statue!!!
A Philly stable and a must for any Rocky fan. For anybody else, the art museum is a stunning architectural end to the parkway and offers a great view of the city. Worth a visit, even if you don’t go inside.
Great location for the Rocky Run, enjoyed my scenic 10 mile run/ trot. Previously did a half marathon in same place for the AACR in 2015 and look forward to do more runs that also help support various important causes. What’s great here is after the race you can retire to a highly rated Whole Foods close by, and get some deliciousness for lunch.
Great experience to personally be there and take picture by the status of Rocky.
A must-see on your trip to Philly to run up the steps and pose with your hands in the air with a Philadelphia skyline in the background is well worth the Run
Where rocky was built... Amazing and breathtaking view of philadelphia at nights.. 100 % recommended.
Best know for Rocky . . But there is a museum behind those stairs. . Lol. Really enjoyed this museum.
Amazing at night.. you climb up and see the city lights flashing back at you at the art museums fountain at the top and the Rocky statue at its steps.. absolutely amazing experience...I would definitely recommend this place even if you are not a rocky fan!
Loved the sculptures, greco-roman style and especially the Rocky statue and steps, the main reason why I went all the way there, to relive my childhood memories of inspiration and pure joy when watching the movie. It was a shame the museum was closed on Mondays and a rainy day. Be sure to take bus 38 if you want to get off closer to the museum and umbrella during winter days.
A must see when visiting Philly. The best time to go would be in the morning and theres not a lot of tourist. While you visit you have to check out Kelly drive to get a view of the river and the Fairmont waterworks. I used to go as a kid growing up in Philly but never really appreciated as much as I do as an adult.
Gotta love pretending to be Rocky for a few minutes while simultaneously getting winded! Definitely worth doing if visiting from out of town, and if you are a fan of the movies.
One of the great Museum in the United States and the North East. Famous for the Rocky scene were he runs up the steps. You ll find some great art works here.
Great to take pictures and to explore.
Best tourist attraction In Philly. Not only do you get to hear many Yo Adrian impersonators th you get involved In many fun convos. Then you get exercise and occupy the kids by running up the stairs.
The 72 stone steps before the entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have become known as the Rocky Steps as a result of the scene from the film Rocky. Tourists often mimic Rockys famous climb, a metaphor for an underdog or an every man rising to a challenge. A bronze Rocky statue was briefly situated at the top of the steps for the filming of Rocky III. This statue, now located at the bottom right of the steps, is a popular photo opportunity for visitors. The top of the steps offers a commanding view of Eakins Oval, the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and Philadelphia City Hall. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)Definitely must to see views of Philly from here.Recommend!
Our trip would not have been complete without stopping here. I made the run up the steps three times and it felt great. And to finish it off the statue of Rocky on the side was a cool photo-op.
Beautiful views of the city and of course a place to strike the iconic pose! Definitely something to do while youre in Philly. Photos really dont do it justice either!
This is another mandatory photo spot! It was fun to run up the steps, and not as hard as I thought it would be! Lol! The statue is at the bottom, so you dont need to climb the stairs to take a photo with it. But there was a huge line! So we just took a photo from a distance.
The steps offer a great view of the city of Philadelphia. There is a rocky statue at street level for photo shots. If you go to the steps, you should go inside the Art Museum too - its a great museum. After the museum, you can go on a nice walk along Kelly Drive. Kelly Drive is next to the Schuylkill River, which has a lot of nice views and some historical markers and statues. There is also Boathouse Row; these are historic houses on the river that different college rowing teams as there bases. It is a really nice area, especially in nice weather. I dont know if it is safe at night though
First time in Philly, and we wanted the family to get a feel for the city. Came for the game but will be returning because of the people..... and more Eagles games FlyEaglesFly
I love the Philadelphia Art Museum! This iconic place is imbued with rich American history. There are a numerous set of steps to ascend and its ideal for exercise. I love going to the very top of the steps and gazing out at the highly enchanting horizon at nighttime. The spectacle of the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Philadelphia is an amazing event to witness! The Art Museum features an assortment of art pieces throughout the year and I admired the huge portrait that I saw there upon my recent visit as well.
Such a great place to be. Take your families. So much to do here. Plus Philadelphia Eagles Championship Year starts here ends here with the Lombardi. Yes please. Philadelphia Eagles...Champions of the World.
This was an amazing place to visit. The architecture alone is worth the trip.
Loved it! 73 steps, I counted! Heads up: There are people at the top of steps who work on tips but they will take your picture for you. Didnt go into the museum just wanted to climb the steps, take some pictures with the rocky statue and be on my way. You get some excellent pictures from the top of the steps.
Stand in Stallone’s footprints literally at the top of the steps, once you’ve run up of corse! Open 24 hours a day if your visiting Philly and love the Rocky movies you’ll be moved by standing at the top of the Museum steps. It can get busy, there’s dozens of people running up at all hours of the day
Nothing like watching hundreds of people recreate the scene from Rocky, while millenials wonder what theyre doing!
Had to come up here for the iconic view and it was amazing. Highly recommend coming out!
Rocky fans will love it. Beautiful view to Philly. Awesome
This is how you feel Philadelphia city. You have to walk or run to the top these Rocky steps and breath in the air of the city. Reminds me how much I love this city of brotherly love. Plus all the places in the city within walking distance
Very iconic and popular place to be. So many people were running up and down the famous steps. I only did it once and almost past out. Jk. The Rocky statue is cool too. Check it out if ever in Philadelphia!!!
If your a fan of Rocky, nice to visit and see first-hand. It was a Sunday when I went and even though the museum was closed lots of people around
These picturesque steps and memorable statue are beautiful in their own right but they also bring back memories of the Rocky movie. Theres a nice big fountain across the street with a large monument. And a large art museum at the top of the steps. There was some construction on part of the museum while we were here in October 2019, but the museum and park were still very accessible. There is a b-cycle station to the left of the steps if you feel like riding. The traffic circle goes across in front of the steps so its not greasy to get here by car and pedestrian crossing is not super easy, but all around and behind the museum is lovely park and grounds.
Such a Phila landmark. One of the wonderful things that we can share as a community at the art museum steps. Many wonderful events happened here.
Reach and Rise breast cancer yoga event. Wonderful experience. Back drop of the museum steps made it even more awesome!
If you love Rocky its a must
Omg!!! Great please to much history... definitely I love be there ️
The steps offer a great view of the city, but dont visit just them (which are also known as the Rocky steps), actually visit the museum! Its the third largest art museum in the US. There were not one but two wedding parties getting their photos taken here on the day I visited, it was cute.
Great place to visit when in Philadelphia beautiful view into the city from the top of the steps also take a picture with the Rocky Statue
Im having so much fun with family
Run up the stairs like Rocky did and feel the power its still a staircase, but does give you an awesome view towards the cityhall
These steps were used by rocky at the closing at his famous run while preparing for boxing. These steps have since become famous as rocky steps. You can always see huge crowd over here on weekends. When around think of spending some time here.
More than an inspiration. Still today. Come in the early morning, so youll have enough time for taking fotos and all the stuff. The best time is 7.50 in the morning. At 10.00 its crowded and a queue forms in front of the Rocky Statue.Run up the steps and wave like Rocky!!!
Beautifull View of the Skyline of Philadelphia. But be aware - Dome are requesting Money for Pictures
Amazing Building and thats just the outside. If visiting dont forget to walk around back
No words! It is marvellous. This is the location of the famous “Rocky Steps”, immortalized in the 1976 Academy Award winning Rocky, which launched the career of the iconic Sylvester Stallone. It is at the very top of my list of MUST see sights in when in Philadelphia, and if you aren’t, (sic. in Philly) drive up and see it anyway, it’s that good.
Loved this place. Took some memorable pics. Very good place to hang out if you live in philly and a good place to spend few hours in evening if you are a tourists. Visit during sun set. You can capture a good picture of the road and ongoing traffic from top of the stairs
Had an early morning run with a colleague during a work conference. It’s just about a 25 min walk from city hall and about 10 mins run. Iconic pictures taken.
Awe inspiring! Suffered a torrential downpour while we were there, detracted nothing from the beautiful building! (also got to walk in Rockys footsteps!)
A lot of trash in the area. They need trash containers and a clean up crew. Broken glass all over. Otherwise it was exciting to seePlease give me a thumbs up if my review and pictures helped you!!!! Thanks
I came here and stepped like him. One of my dreams came true again! What a lucky guy I am! Where is my Adrian? lol
Really cool experience and the Rocky statue is awesome. Definitely recommend visiting at least once in your life, especially if you are a Rocky fan.
This is a fun place to see with great views of the city. There are plenty of photo opportunities on the steps especially for Rocky fans. Interesting statues and architecture to see as well. It does cost to enter the museum itself but the steps are a fun and free attraction!
This was a special moment for me. I actually walked the steps to memorialize my mom. She passed away the day after mothers day, this year. She had a rare blood cancer. My mom thought she would get better. Her plan was to walk the Rocky steps. It was a Bucket List. Well...my Boyfriend and I half jogged and half walked for my mom!! The crowd was great. We also took a picture. It was a great day and the weather was lovely. Oh..and there were 2 wedding groups. How awesome!!
I’ve always wanted to run those steps and I was able to do it with my sons!! Loved it. Very clean, cheap parking, totally worth it.
Worth a visit and run up these iconic steps.. Nice interesring buildings there too.
The famous Rocky steps. It has an opening in the middle which cuts through Philidephia that you can see for miles. Has a large fountain at the top. Started our visit to the city here, great location.
Nice definitely worth doing. Not everything out here is worth doing but that one is!
I wish the PA system was working. We had to run the steps without a theme song in the background!
It is a beautiful place, the statue is wonderful, sadly when i was here, it rained. The view is amazing
Lot of construction..but. Great pics from the steps...
