Out of all my extensive traveling throughout this country, I knew this was something I had to see when I got to Philadelphia. It was cool being this close to the remains of a man who had so much influence on the history of this world. They do charge you $5 to enter the cemetery. The grave is about 2-3 feet behind a wrought iron gate that lines the street. You can see it from the sidewalk just fine. The picture that I posted was taken from the sidewalk. I would have paid... but it was closed.

5 stars for Ben Franklin. 4 stars because you have to pay $5 to get into this cemetery for some reason and it doesnt even open until noon. Fortunately Bens grave is right next to the sidewalk so we could say our greetings from there.

You have to pay homage to one of the fathers of our great country! What a fantastic person of American history! Coming here you get to be part of history! Pay your respects... visit the liberty bell across the street and where they wrote the constitution ((Independence Hall))! Visit Ben!

This is the final resting place of the great Benjamin Franklin, his wife, children and a few other relatives. The graves are located at what was once the back of the cemetery, but with changes in the neighborhood over time and demand to see his grave increasing, the wall was replaced with a fence and passersby can now look at the grave markers, which are right behind the railings. Some cruder individuals somehow think it is appropriate to toss coins onto the grave markers. The grave markers themselves are not noteworthy in design or beauty. Admission to the Christ Church burial ground is by fee and allows one to stand before the graves. Located in the larger, historic area popular with tourists and a must-see on any visitors itinerary.

So crazy to stand here. Must check out when in Philadelphia. I believe it was $3 to enter, a bit more for a tour. Would definitely recommend checking out if youre from out of town, like myself!

Sitting inside the Christ Church graveyard, you can pass by it a million times and not notice it but if you are aware of its presence, youll stop to read the inscriptions. One of the founding fathers must be recognized by all passers-by. Some tours are also organized that include the grave in the visit.

Not a whole lot to see. It is right on the side of the street, but interesting for sure. There are some plaques that you can read and there is a walking tour that takes you here and talks about it.

I am blown away that Benjamin Franklins grave site is so visible is the city and how great that we still throw pennies on top. Very cool!

Small little cemetery near Liberty Bell containing final resting place of Benjamin Franklin, three other signers of the Declaration of Independence, and many early Colonial military and their family. The grave marker of Benjamin Franklin is currently under preservation and cannot be viewed.

One of the must go places for school field trip. Very important piece of history. Definitely a landmark in the city. It is interesting to hear from the tour guide that hundreds of thousands of visitors toss pennies at the grave for good luck. The city makes about over $3000 each other from those pennies!!

Very cool that you can see his final resting place. Disappointing that you have to pay when everything else is a part of the National Park Service and free.

It is not expensive to go into the graveyard (where you can see some other notable historic graves) but if you prefer to save your money you can see Franklins grave from the outside (but your picture wont be as good!) Franklin is the figure msot associated with Philadelphia, so you should definitely try and stop by here if you are a tourist visiting the city.It is typical for people to leave pennies on the grave - you will see a lot of them.

Cool place but closed in January and February. It is right by all the historical sites un the area so it is definitely worth walking across the street to. Just make sure that you go while it is open otherwise you just have to view it from a hole in the wall.

The tombstone is at the northwest corner and is visible from the sidewalk. Alternatively, you can pay $3 to enter the cemetery and stand directly in front of it. Either way, make sure you toss a penny onto it.

I dont know how exciting a cemetery is supposed to be. I was a little surprised to have to pay admission, but it is private property and receives a lot of foot traffic, so I feel the price was nominal considering the upkeep probably required. It was something that Im glad I did. The staff were knowledgeable about the cemetery and were able to answer a few questions I had about the property.

Pretty cool to get to see Bens tomb. Throw a penny on it for good luck-it all goes to preserving the tombs in the graveyard. For $2.00 you can go into the whole graveyard itself, which is pretty cool too if you like graves.

I was listening to Franklins autobiography recently, so as I was in the neighborhood, I dropped by to pay a short visit to an extraordinary man born in extraordinary times. The gravestone of a 4yr old son was a surprise. A bit of a spoiler for later in the book. Even for the best of us, life is not easy or smooth. For the person leaving pennies on the grave - that is Lincolns bust, not Franklinss. Franklin is on the $100 bill. Feel free to leave as many of them as you like in tribute. ;)

Time well spent, worth a look. There is a lot of info. on Bens life posted outside the gate/wall right at the grave site. You can pay to go in, or just see it through the fence which I did. (or most people do) Grab a couple pictures to remember your trip and a pretty cool guy.
