The Fairmount Park Horticulture Center is an absolutely incredible space in Philly! There are so many places for photographs both inside and out. The grounds outside are stunning and very well kept even in winter. You will freak out over the dreamy indoor ceremony space. It is completely covered so rain or shine they literally have you covered, haha. Also the catering is by Constellation, which is one of the absolutely best in the city. Overall you will love this venue for your wedding or event. Book now because dates go quickly!
This location was perfect for Parks On Tap! There was ample space to keep socially distanced and still have a good group of friends together. The pretzels served were great and the beer selection was even better! There were mosquitoes as the night went on but nothing bug spray cant fix.
Parks on Tap is back and they have a great, safe set up! Beers from Mainstay Brewing company are great on a hot day, sitting outside on Fairmount park. The food menu has added a couple items since last year. We stick with our go-to - pulled pork sandwich. Still so good! Thanks Fairmount park Conservancy for figuring out how to bring back Parks on Tap!
I was there for the cheery blossom festival and it was a pleasant experience. There was ample parking for a small fee adjacent the park. For bathrooms, the park had adequate supply of mobile toilets for those who could use them. Overall, a great experience! The performances were my favorite part of the experience.
[WEDDING VENUE REVIEW] The Horticulture Center was a dream come true! Our family and friends are still talking about how magical the venue was, especially for a nighttime winter wedding. It far exceeded our wildest imagination, and we’re so happy we were able to share this amazing space with our out-of-town guests. The Constellation Culinary team was also equally amazing - so accommodating, communicative, lovely to work with. Thank you Leila and Gail for the absolute best night of our lives! It was absolutely unforgettable!!!
Beautiful, sprawling park and one of my favorites. Props to the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation department for maintaining this and our other public parks. At the height of the warm seasons, theres a long rectangular water fountain (30ft maybe?). Tucked on one end near the Horticultural Center are three smaller gardens, some growing food. The Center has a lovely greenhouse to explore. It also has programs where you can pick up compost, or use their nursery for seedlings. On the other end of the park is a gazebo, a sundial surrounded by trees, two rows of cheery trees (go in june/july to see them blossom), two metal horse sculptures and the Japanese Tea House and Garden (separate fee-based entry for the tea house). Throughout the park are plenty of wood benches and green space to have picnics.
I love trees and was excited to come to FPHC to expand my knowledge of tree species. There are certainly many large and beautiful specimens, including a handful of incredible London plane trees, dawn redwood trees and many spectacular Japanese maples. One area the HC could greatly improve is the tagging of tree species. We seldom came across a tag to help identify the trees. For an arboretum, this was a surprise. Many of the trees would benefit from a good pruning of dead wood and there were also a few mostly dead or heavily diseased trees in the arboretum.Aside from those few issues, it was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
Attended a wedding here. The place was absolutely gorgeous. The staff was friendly. The food was cold by the time it arrived at tables, however. It appears that the kitchen is not attached to the main building. I saw bringing the plated food in from outside. It was very cold outside and I think that may have contributed to the cold food. Maybe something to inquire about if youre looking to book the place. Other than that it was a really nice unique venue and a pleasant time.
Very cozy and serene. I wish it was open later.
What a lovely place to take the family on a weekend.
Parks on Tap Wednesday through Sunday, great spot to hangout and have a beer
One of my favorite places to visit in the city. A refreshing and inspiring venue -- weddings here are unbelievable and the yoga series was a real treat.
Lovely location to socially distance and share a beer (Parks on Tap)
The venue is very pretty. I was here for an outdoor wedding. Although wedding was outdoors, the venue also has an inside part where cocktails were served, there even a bigger area on the inside which has a dance floor built in. The venue was neat and clean. There are several spots to take awesome pictures. The venue also has a fountain. However, it isnt operational presently due to a hole in the plumbing, but minus that everything is great. It is a very large area. The best part about this is that this garden has parking included. Hard to find such a place in the city.
Went to the first annual Getaway at The Greenhouse Escape Winter Event and it was wonderful! Its a 1.5 week long event where they turn the greenhouse into the summer paradise we have all been missing. Theres a big sandbox for kids, a real patch of grass you can lie on for picnics and games, giant connect 4, bags, live music, alcohol for sale and more. And its all free! Highly recommend!
Its a nice place. Beautiful cherry blossoms when in season. Shofusu Japanese house is pretty too. But small. If u want a picnic this place works
Worked here as a Seasonal Maintenance Attendant with Fairmount Park for 2 summers..6 months in 2012-2013. Loved everyone I worked with. Beautiful hidden gem tucked in between the Philadelphia Zoo and other landmarks... you can come here on a beautiful spring afternoon, sit down on a bench, read a book or just stroll through the beautiful gardens..Mike O Brien, the manager of the center, is the nicest person ever. If you ever are in the area, stop by the Hort Center!
Went during the Cherry blossom festival and it was beautiful!! Its a great place for pictures or if you want somewhere nice to take a walk and have a picnic with someone special they also had a traveling beer garden there which was a great place to stop and sit for a break. And the margarita wasnt bad either. Its a must see place for everyone.
Always a great walk, Japanese tea House a wonder and the cherry blossoms will be out by the end of the week
Beautiful greenhouse. It felt a bit like longwood gardens. I went for a family friendly event but there are adult events too. I highly reccomend a visit.
Very big area, good for families with kids. Plenty of space for kids to enjoy nature and play. Good trails for walk. Not many stalls so plan to bring your own stuff to eat or munch. After long walks or playing both kids and adults need some munch but you cant get anything in the park. Go prepared.
My family had a memorial birthday celebration for my sister.
Great for early morning quiet walks.
Beautiful location. Nice ambiance. Was there for a memorial service. Food waa tasty and waitstaff attentive. I would have an event there. A hidden gem!
Lovely Place! Nice people! Friendly staff!
Love this place. Been coming for years. My only complaint is the rising number of people there walking their dogs without a leash. I saw one large dog jump playfully on an elderly woman who was terrified by the move. Another simply pooped near a flower bed and the owner didnt bother to pick up. Nothing against dogs, but people need to respect this wonderful public space and its rules.
We really enjoyed this beautiful an relaxing place. They also have an edible garden with garden patio to relaxe.
This review was based off of attending a wedding here and it was completely beautiful and definitely a unique venue.
A dream wedding venue! Food and service was exceptional. Many guests remarked it was the best wedding they had ever been too.
Great place for romantic walks, lived in philly.my whole life and this is the first time I came here
So cool! 10/10 recommend. Specialty cocktails were good. Set up and band was awesome. However... If you ever encounter a person named Ashley that challenges you to a game of Connect 4 in the picnic area. I warn you in advance that you will not embrace victory. Defeat will be yours.
For many years I have captured so many varied and beautiful events in this awesome venue!#BillAndrewsPhotography#WilliamAndrewsPhotography#ISeeYouEverywhere#CelebrityPhotographer
The best kept secret in. West PhillySerene and beautiful. I would stay here all day if I could.
Japanese garden
I was there on Cherry blossom festival on April 7 2019 and they only had two mobile toilets in the park for all visitors. Both in terrible condition. The layer of inside was almost up to the seat. Even if they had other toilets, they were clothed. We walked around the park and checked. There were no signs either. The park itself was in need of some TLC. The fountain did not work and there was no water in it. That was the time of Sakura festival, so I think something had to be done and the park prepared. It was different several years ago.
Fenomenal place to come visit in spring around cherry blossoms festival...Sakura Sunday is a lot of fun with ton of activities and vendors but a bit too popular so there is a line for everything. A day before or after trees are still in bloom and place is much more relaxed.
Does not share entry cost. Website is not good very bland
Very nice place if you looking for a peaceful environment.
Well laid out. Staff are friendly.
The surrounding arboretum is very pleasant and there is a pleasant area to sit outdoors next to the horticulture structures.
A week before the cherry blossoms but it still looks lovely enough to walk around and catch mother nature dressed in her last bits of winter.
Its beautiful, plenty to see, historical, botanical, pristine grounds
Went for my nephews wedding it was beautiful
The trees are beautiful. Im looking forward to going back when its warmer.
A nice visit. Neatly maintained Japanese home with murals and bonsai trees
Beautiful part of the park system.
Perfect venue for any event
Great hidden gem within the city.
They did a job well done. Especially with all the plant life in the off season
Was here for the flower festival. Its a nice enough place. The bathrooms are kind of gross.
I love the opportunity to paint the flowers and greenery .
Beautiful grounds that are well maintained and walkable.
Beautiful location in Philadelphia. Lovely venue for an event.
Great venue for a wedding
Great time. Clean, fun and beautiful
Great place for weddings
Kids love trees!
Great park with a special cherry blossoms season.
The horticultural center has changed in recent years. Not many horticultural groups allowed to meet there anymore because the city wants to use the venue to generate revenue from weddings and other money makers. Its a shame.
Wonderful gem to enjoy especially in the cold winter months
Lovely venue, had an absolute blast
Beautiful peaceful place
Me and my husband went for a walk and had.icecream.it.was.fun
