The property was a summer residence for the Benjamin Chew family in a much earlier time in Philadelphias history the location contains three buildings a carriage house which is air condition the main house which is under somewhat of Renovations but definitely available for tours and a groundskeepers house which I do not believe is on display but they do tell you about it. My visit was in the early afternoon and there was no reenactments or other activities at the time however I did take a number of photographs for your review The Carriage House offers a short movie which explains the time period of the house and the guides take you from there to the main house and tour. It is my belief that all are welcome free of charge to enjoy the grounds on a normal operating hours. One important note I would like to make is that the main entrance is on Clivden Street off of Germantown Avenue it is easily accessible by public transportation the 23 bus and street parking if you should come by private car.
The grounds are beautiful, the reenactment in the fall is a must see.
Great place to walk my dog.
Its a wonderful historical place to go learning about the history of the building they have all kinds of different things u can learn about these places here in Philadelphia I had a great time learning about all of the history of Cliveden of the National Trust and the people there are nice and friendly will help u with whatever u need. Great place to take your and friends to learn about the historical history. Of something that u never know about the background of it it makes u feel good going to place like this. Thank you again

Nice place to hold cultural events. Interesting Philadelphia historical information is curated here.
Went to the reenactment of The Battle of Germantown and it was great. Havent been in well over 10 years, but it was amazing!
Good experience for children who are learning about American history.
Ive taken a recent interest in history and the American Revolution. To find out that this little history is tucked away in the middle of a busy neighborhood was a treat. Went there for a historical food lecture, but did a brief tour while insite. Thrilled that this house survived from the Revolution and the people there are knowledgeable and passionate about it too. Will visit again.
Arrived at a strange hour and wasnt sure if anyone was around so I first walked the ground and shot some great outside pics. Then proceeded to the carriage house museum where I was greeted by Mackenzie. She was enthusiastic and I enjoyed the focused narrative she gave me on 1777 since that is where my own work has been focused the past couple years.A VERY informative museum I could have spent more time looking at exhibit cases and all that is presented.Such a great museum!
And historical Jewel in Philadelphia. Would definitely encourage all history Buffs to visit while in town.
Such a beautiful park. Very well maintained and clean, mature trees and plants, and tons of space to run around. There is shade, perfect for the summer. Its open every day except federal holidays. We love it here!

History brought to life. Their dramatic presentation every June and the re-enactment of the Battle of Germantown each October are both fantastic events.
Liberty to go to see was a wonderful interpretive experience! Very thought provoking.
Great guide and place! We got a private tour, which was nice.
Beautiful colonial home that has belonged to an elite Philadelphia family for 250+ years and was the site of the main conflict in the battle of Germantown. It is well maintained and our tour guide seemed very knowledgeable.
History comes to life and new discoveries continue to be made. Excellent outreach and creative new programs combining history, culture and food.
The women working there are very knowledgeable and make it interesting for the students.
Amazingly knowledgeable staff, beautiful grounds and historic house. Great place for a day trip and only a a short trip down the road from some delicious restaurants and cute stores.
This house is well taken care of and our guide was very knowledgeable. They actually have multiple generations of remodels and renovations and try to show both the 18th 19th and 20th century characteristics of the house.
