It was cool to browse the selection of candy and look at some of the cool old stuff they have around the store, but we drove from an hour away to go play to old pinball machines and they were roped off so you couldn’t even get close enough to look at them. Disappointed
Really awesome nostalgic overload of Candy, Diner, Vinyl and most importantly a massive vintage Pinball Museum! My only complaint is that many of the pinball games were out of service and they dont do a play pass system, its pay per game. All in all a great place for a vintage throwback or for Pinball Enthusiasts!
Visited on a Friday night close to closing. Was moderately busy with small crowds filtering in and out as they wandered through the connected Hollywood Candy & Antiques complex. The museum is in the back of the building beyond the antiques area and is not to be confused with the other preexisting Hollywood Candy arcade area adjacent to the malt shop. This museum focuses on the older electromechanical reels-and-bells pinball machines from the 1970s and earlier as opposed to the computerized ones more familiar to us now. As a big fan of the 80s/90s era of pinball, I wasnt sure how much I would enjoy these somewhat slower-paced games, but their presentation in the museum helped me gain a new appreciation for these classics.I really enjoyed the decor and atmosphere and the games themselves were immaculately restored and surprisingly clean. I had one or two minor problems with machines that were supposed to be in working order (sticky flippers etc) but considering the terrible shape I often see much newer games in I was overall impressed with the playability of these old machines.Games are 50 cents a play, payable in tokens. On the night I visited, about ten or more games were marked out of service, but many more were perfectly playable.Just outside the main pinball area, there is another smaller alcove with a few (mostly 80s vintage) video arcade games and a couple newer solid-state pinball machines.Museum area can get pretty hot with all those machines running, so dont overdress.
Wow. this has to be one of my favorite spots to visit. It was like a trip through a time machine. Was it a candy store, a soda shop, an arcade, a thrift shop, a maze, a museum? I guess all of the above. I liked the room filled with old school electro mechanical pinballs. Some of them needed some TLC but it was still a great time. Definately glad I went. Only wish I had my son with me as kids would love this place.
I’m extremely happy we checked it out. It was a lot of fun.
TOTAL BUST in terms of arcade machines. Most of them were roped off & the few that were accessible required tokens & that machine was out of order.NOT CONSIDERING a return trip the next time I get in town.
Very disappointed. Lots of amazing retro machines, but you never know if they are gonna be functional or not. I purchased $10 dollars in tokens with my family and we lost more money to broken games than ones where we actually got to play. This place has lots of potential, but until something changes youre better off just looking at the old machines than trying to play.
Awesome time! Free jukebox in the back with tons of tunes and every machine is $0.50 per play!
