This is a truly great historic Pier that once served as a wharf for ships from around the world to unload their cargo onto trains that ran on railroad tracks to the end of the pier. Great surfing spot also

This place is so beautiful. Been coming here since 1979 when I was in the Marines.

Nice place to go out and enjoy the beautiful picture. Nice and safe place. Only one down side a lot of people like to smoke weed when smoking is prohibited and the smell of it may not be the best part when you are having a walk with your kids.

Such a beautiful pier! Wonderful place to bring your kids and family. The beach is filled with sand. Plenty of space to explore and play in the water. Lots of surfer, fishermen, and birds. Would definitely come again!

An incredibly beautiful place! There were a lot of people on the pier. And when the sunset is gone, people began to disperse. And then we managed to climb the pier. An incredible experience. Many fishermen stand with their rods and fish. The pier is well lit. Near the beach there is paid parking. $ 10 all day.

Very calm, open sace to walk. End of pier by Rubys Diner is now open for outdoor seating so cannot go around pier anymore. Still nice walk.

This pier was almost surreal. It felt like the movies! People left and right fishing off the pier, a cute little souvenir shop 1/2 way down the pier and a sea-air worn little shack of a restaurant.Given that my visit was during Aug 2020 COVID season I dont know if it was less crowded than normal but there were plenty of people for people watching but not so many people you couldnt see off either side of the pier to the ocean, boats coming and going from the nearby marina or the surfers catching their watery ride.Sunsets were so amazing and again surreal!

One of the longest piers on the California coast. Great views, good for walking, and theres a Rubys burger restaurant at the end. Lots of fisherman on the pier, and surfers and swimmers in the water. Many restaurants nearby, including Johnny Mananas - a great little Costa Rican/Mexican restaurant

Nice scenic walk. Fishing poles for rent on the pier. Very cool. New outdoor concert venue being built. Very happy vibes. Highly recommend.

Long pier stretches into the water. Seems to be a good spot to fish from. It is a nice attraction to visit. Wide and clean shore underneath. Street parking is coins only. Parking lots accept credit cards.

Great place for a getaway. Nice place to relax and enjoy the ocean. Great beaches and close to SD. About 30 minutes away.

Nice and clean PIER. Long walk and fun watching other fishing buddies and surfers wipe out! Hats off to the surfers. Definitely not born with a great sense of balance so admire their athleticism. Have fun! D

We love the pier and the people are usually really great. The restrooms are a whole other story unfortunately.

There are fish in that there ocean. Its a neat little pier with a tourist trap restaurant at the end. I caught a poor little stingray this time out. My buddy caught a tiny little sand bass. If there are little ones there are big ones!

As always a beautiful ocean. People were not socially distant or wearing masks so we didnt get out of the ca. we stayed in the car with the windows down for over half hour. It was still an awesome afternoon, driving half hour each way. The winds were blowing and the waves were enormous!

Its always a beautiful sight with a choice of walks that make me grateful to be able to live so close to the ocean

Overall, the pier is a great place to visit with a variety of vendors and pretty nice beach front. Would NOT recommend the funnel cake stand. It looks delicious and tastes delicious but every time we’ve been we ended up sick and nauseous later. Other than that, we love it!

I love the beach. Its always fun to go for a stroll along the pier. You can fish off the pier or just sit and watch beach goers and surfers in the water. Rubys diner us also open for eating outside on the pier.

Nice spot to fish, at night we caught a ton of stingray, during the day there were lots of mackerel and other fish I couldnt identify as we didnt catch them. The bathrooms are horrible but usable.

Nice white sand beaches, you can walk the Pier and yes the water is still cold. All n all a great day!

It was a nice a day to be at the beach and walk on the sand they have fishing on the pier booths to buy ice cream or ice cones ( raspadas ) churro also and the view it gets when the sun goes down is beautiful

I have been fishing this peer since I was a kid in the early eighties., Always great sights to see great grub at rubys diner, The bait shop midway has everything you could possibly need.

You Can be in the ocean without a boat and feel like walking on water amazing sights

Good fishing, friendly fishermen willing to share tips with tourists and newcomers, bait shop chock-a-block with all you need to fish and trinkets, bathrooms, fish cleaning stations, and Rubys at the end serving shakes and more! Amazing sunset views, too.

I love this result renovated historic pier. Its not only nostalgic but beautiful. Get a bite to eat at Rubys at the end of the pier and watch the surfers or the sunset. Then take a dip or a ride on the most perfect waves for boarding or surfing. Its also perfect for just playing in the surf and sand. The sand is soft and flat, and the view iconic Southern California! This beach and pier is on my top 5 beaches list in SoCal!

Today was a hot one! 95F at the beach!! To the credit of beach goers, people were considerate, social, and social distanced in spite of the numbers in attendance. Shaved ice and funnel cake were an added bonus to a beautiful day. Beach was clean. Lifeguards were focused. No incidents. Good times allowed us to have a wonderful tech free day.

Ive been going here my whole life, love this beach. Not too sure about all the Building that going on, I think its going to take away from the Cozyness of the cute little beach but we shall see

I loved this pier. It was very clean and a fun place for anyone.

A nice beach and pier. Good vibes from the people. But needs cleaning and a little bit of renovation. The wooden railings is dirty from someone who caught fish and cut those fish in the railing though they have designated cutting board. It’s gloomy weather when we went there but we still enjoyed our sightseeing. Ruby’s is closed but you can buy from some vendor for your snacks and souvenirs. We pay our parking all day for a good price of $5!

Lovely walk on the peer lots of people fishing, I loved just standing there watching them catch stuff as well as watching for dolphins, Pelicans and the waves. Great place to just stand and relax.

If you love the ocean,sandy beaches and sunsets this is the place to be. Playground for the kids, local food at the beach and surfing.

Enjoy these pictures of my literal favourite place in the world. Theres so much to do in this city, cafés, street biking, snowcones, bonfires, etc. but walking the pier is such an experience I def. recommend.

Loved every moment at our beachside villa earlier this week. So much to do. Feels nice coming down from the bay area to fresh, non smoky air. Can breathe a lot easier. Only one hiccup. We left Oceanside for palm springs and had a pancreititus attack went to er for 6 hrs and got pain management. Feeling much better, trip not ruined

This is a great Pier and Beach to hang out at all day, Lots of atmosphere. Several snack bars underneath the pier and other restaurants are close by. There were a lot of fishermen on the pier having a good time and theres a Rubys Diner restaurant at the end of the pier. Very cool looking place. The beach itself is very long and theres a harbor area with boats down at the North End.

Such a beautiful place! We even saw dolphins and otters out there! The scenery and the food amazing!

Beautiful scenery. Beautiful people. I love this place. I saw a pelican and Im from Cleveland Ohio so it was absolutely amazing. I met some really nice people. A lot of good music artist out playing country music and I loved it. This place is absolutely breath taking. My daughter loved the water. I hope I get to back while I am here in California.

We really like this area, the beaches around the pier are wide and clean.

Visited right before sunset during covid season. Easy parking. Easy walk. Crowds were spaced. Glad to see most people wearing masks and social distancing doing their part. Locals must be reasonable people.

My kids and I love it here! Get to fish, walk/sightsee and enjoy the sea water smell. Cant wait to go back!

Great seaside spot. Wonderful sunset and some good eats. A bit touristy, but definitely worth stopping by. The beach also looked great, although we didnt get to enjoy it.

Oceanside pier has what you would like for a beach. For those who are avid San Diego beach goers, you know the drill. Great spot for a sunset, like most beaches. Plenty of family oriented activity potential such as coastal bike rentals, beachside restaurants, and space.One thing to understand and accept, is there are a decent amount of seemingly harmless homeless/drug addicts who roam. As a San Diego native for 30 years, Ive been to other beaches who share the same situation, but I feel it is more common here in oceanside.That being said, Oceanside Pier is still a great spot for a beautiful sunny day, atmosphere, and family fun!

Must visit . Has everything for the family . Beautiful beaches, pier fishing, rental bikes, food . Very clean

This is Oceansides best! A beautiful pier! Often pelicans sit on the pier by the fishing outpost. (Charlie the pelican is Oceansides unofficial mascot!). A must see for any visit to Oceanside! Take a stroll along the Strand (a small concrete boardwalk) beside the pier. Its fun to watch the surfers too!

Go at night!!! Screw the crowds, at night parking is easy, weather is breezy, I felt like a cover girl. Must go on beach right under the pier. But like I said GO AT NIGHT like 7-8pm.

First time visiting California and I stayed in San Diego. Ive never seen the ocean until now and I must say wow. This is the place to see. Its clean and has public restrooms and has so much to see and do walking around the each. Playgrounds. Pier. Rubys restaurant on the pier is a must. Fishing as well! The sand is so soft and clean.

The Hawaiian Portuguese pizza is amazing.

Love walking on the pier in the early mornings, but quite dislike the smell and atmosphere. Understandingly the smell of fish cant be helped nor the people who chose to fish and walk, but it wouldnt hurt to spruce up the place a bit. I noticed this week that names if people were written on the planks that act as rails. Most likely these names are of deceased people, and their names are carved in to remember them. If this is true they WHY are there trash cans, signs, and garbage in front of some of them. Guys have a little respect.

Lovely walk!! Not as many bums as there have been in the past, which is nice. Such a beautiful view! Even saw two dolphins that werent too far off in the distance. There is a little shop at the halfway point and the old guys working there are the sweetest. I got a really delicious coffee for real cheap and I felt extra special when the guy asked if I wanted it fancy with some whip cream. He was the sweetest man. Definitely will be back when we stay at oceanside in the near future.

FUN TO GET OIT AND FISH. AND YOU DONT NEED A LICENSE

My nieces love this beach, but twice now there was a strange weirdo where you wonder if hes going to do harm. One stood in the water with a very long stick and started preaching to kids the other dressed in a black floor length trench coat, black pants, black shirt and carried a hammer. He stood in the water up to his neck... It was just weird...

Beautiful place to safely walk and people watch. Lots of fishing, birding and surfing.

We had a burger, some beers and a malt, and watched the sunset. Fun evening!

Awesome amazing walk on the pier! I been coming here since I was a kid, its always adventure! If its your lucky day sometimes youll see dolphins, seals and even see someone catch a shark!

Beautiful scene. Be careful in the night, there was a homeless man threatening to stab people on me time I went there.

Good fishing. Awesome place to stroll and take in the ocean air and an occasional wiff of greenery. The view of the sunset from the pier is phenomenal. Theres a Rubys at the end of the pier where you can grab some burgers, fries and a shake. Theres also a bait/souvenir/snacks shop where you can also rent some fishing gear. Fyi, finding parking nearby can be a challenge. Theres a couple parking lots about a block a way for $5/day.

I liked it, the only bummer was theres constriction going on at the moment.

This is a Beautiful place to visit!! They have a fun gift shop on the Pier and sometimes you can see Pelicans waiting for a snack. Also there are a lot of surfers who come to ride the waves, So Talented !!

Love the pier and the entire experience of Oceanside. Beuatiful area which may be getting over popular and congested but cant blame the sea!

Great beach to swim, surf, sunbathing. Plenty of food vendors, parking. I used metrolink train to get here.

I had a great time fishing yesterday. Beautiful views. Only one problem, they need to regulate how many poles your fishing with. Some people was fishing both sides of the peir with multiple poles overtaking fishing spots.

The Oceanside pier is a very long wooden structure with many places to fish. There are lots of seabirds and huge pelicans flying around indicating that there are lots of fish in the ocean. At the end there is a good restaurant, Rubys, where I enjoyed a seafood lunch with the waves hitting the pier posts underneath. And the views of the city are spectacular both North and South. I am sure the sunsets are beautiful. I recommend it.
