Though its scorched at this time of year it hardly matters as the big feature here is the spectacular views of San Fran. We arrived at low tide and were treated to sightings of lots of shorebirds: brown pelicans, curlews, dowitchers, a lone black-necked stilt, a pair of killdeer and flocks of peeps. Plenty of parking and paths for walking (surface rough in places) and cycling. Should be a hit with youngsters too, seeing the container ships at the docks as well as private motor and sailboats on the channel. On a fine day its definitely worth a visit.
Its a little known out of the way getaway from the city. Tucked in the Port between cranes and massive container ships with a clear view of San Francisco, Alameda, and beyond. Theres a lot of space but it is somewhat run down at the moment but not much different from many other parks. Youre close to the outer harbor fishing pier and other fishing opportunities.
A nice quiet park with local residents. Great area for hiking and biking. Park is much bigger than it looks on the map. Outstanding view of SF skyline, Oakland Port container cranes and the shoreline. Covered area with lots of picnic tables, although its closed now due to COVID-19. Bathroom facilities on site.
Get coffee or food at one of the many places nearby and hang out here on your lunch or go on a walk. Very beautiful sight where you get to see the whole of San Francisco from another perspective. Great place to bring a date too
My brother and I went here and enjoyed it. Large portions and excellent service (thanks Nicki!). Outdoor seating was awesome as well. Thanks for a nice evening.
What a hidden gem! Incredible views, quiet calm vibe. No dogs or alcohol allowed, but a great place for a contemplative stroll..
Great views, easy to find and plenty of parking. Happy that there was also a taco truck available with food and drinks. The only complaint I have is not about the park itself...it is that people who bring their dogs need to clean up after them because there was way too much poop in the grassy areas, making it unsanitary to sit on the grass or to let small children play there.
Participated in a distanced exercise group and it was beautiful looking out over the bay and Chappell Hayes Observation Tower.
I work on the Docks here. Longshore. I didnt go here but have been here. Its a park with a hell of a view.
Great place for a calming late night walk.
Whenever I unload at the docks I always make a trip to this harbor. Its very small and Everytime Ive been there not super busy. Great view of San Francisco. There is some viewing scopes for a view of the city and they are free. And worked pretty good. There is also a small pier on the other side of the harbor that you can fish on. Its a bit of a walk though. Very pretty small sand beach and some Rocky shore line. Always a favorite spot of mine to visit when I got to Oakland. And also fishing off any pier in California is free you dont need a fishing license.
Great spot. We enjoyed the views and trails. The park has some shaded picnic tables and BIG grills! Wear shoes because I passed over several broken glass bottles. *Watch out for truck drivers. They drive illegally fast on the passing road. Speed limit is 30 mph and Im sure they do over 50 mph.
Its a beautiful and inspiring place to hang out, beautiful scenery. Love it : )
Kind of in a tricky location but a nice park, especially on a bike.
Beautiful but stark and a little earie.
Went there to spend time with my babe
Paddled here from Encinal beach. Calm water to rest for the return trip.
Good place to bring kids and exercise. Patrolled by security. Parking available.
Beautiful place to see the Bay Area. Love the views. Nice clean and safe. Definitely worth a trip.
It was great!there was a harbor and a shoreline, and I was right in the middle!
The only part we saw was for gatherings, plenty of room but nothing for kids to play on. Wonderful view of San Francisco. We were there for a life celebration and had the park to ourselves and had a wonderful remembrance. Probably busier in 5je summer.
Stunning Bay views and a great spot for a picnic.
It is clean and spacious...nice view of SanFran and nice walking trail..
Cold place with a Nice view
This place is always a good place to get a little fresh air maybe even enjoy a walk with that special someone...
Nice place that usually isnt crowded. Bear in mind, No Dog Signs are posted everywhere. This is not a dog friendly location.
Great place and take the family.
For all I love the park for my grandmothers high school reunion but there is no grass and all sand and its getting in your eyes every time the wind picks up thats Why you get it get 5 stars
Nice park but kind of dirty.
It is a nice view of San Francisco & Golden Gate Bridges.
Beautiful place to enjoy views of SF, Bay Bridge, the Bay...
Still a nice park although it isnt kept up really nicely like in past years.
Nice park but my friends refer to it as Goose Poop Park because the grounds are littered with it, everywhere.
Surprisingly nice venue for the shipyard setting, though when the wind picks up the sand and dust can become a problem.
Beautiful place to walk and or drive and to take in the views
They close early, to look at the city there is no parking, they dont water so its a dust bowl and they need to clean the bathroom.
Beautiful views of San Francisco, the bay bridge, and surrounding area
Awesome waterfront park with excellent views of the bay, SF, and the port of Oakland!
What amazing view!!
Unkept park but nice view of SF
Well it has a great view, but I wouldnt recommend this place. Its way down by the port which is not the nicest area and the park is really small. If you happened to be by the ship berths then check it out, but beforehand ask yourself do I really need to be in this part of town?
Good calm n peaceful place right next to the port of Oakland. Can enjoy the winter sun. A great relaxation place especially for the sailors since it is right outside the port gate.
Great Bayside views!
Very surreal gives you time to reflect
I find myself coming here a lot because its close by and has some great views of San Francisco, but it is a very industrial setting, and theres goose poo everywhere
Another beautiful park with great views.
Great 3 Mile Stretch of Outdoors for runners with a concrete and dirt path available. Quiet and tranquil.
Lots of shore birds and panoramic views
Has a great view of The City skyline. Some sandy portions for chillin on a beach. Also has tables and grills for a lil BBQ or family picnic. Cool place for concerts .
Park is a little neglected but the view is awesome.
Always a cool breeze from the bay
Nice quiet harbor park
For people who love to see vessels moving around
Good location for this years treasure island festival. A bit Dusty tho
I am Gods love 848 also and I gave it to 5 Star reviews prematurely. I have a change of mind do to my experiences with them lately i would like for you to be use your own oppinions and not be persuaded by mine at this time. Bless You and i wish you well with the best in your decisions healing and comfort that i hope you find.
For many years after this park opened in 2006 I rode my bike out here and spent many a solitary moment writing poetry and soaking in the sunset, a point of inspiration tucked at the edge of industrial west oakland. Nowadays many more people know of it and its good to see the space be enjoyed by young and old. This space has been designated as a bird sanctuary and attempt to restore natural habitat along the greatly diminished marshland of the Pacific flyway. Unfortunately some people bring their dogs here and let them run around and chase the birds including young birds that are unable to fly. Point Isabel is a beautiful dog park on the bay where your dog is free to run off leash.
What an amazing view
Simply one of the finest outdoor areas not just in Oakland but in entire the Bay Area.I regularly jog here. Great view of the San Francisco bay and San Francisco. You have the port of Oakland ships being loaded on the South end which is way cool, you have the Baybridge view, view of Oakland, all simply spectacular.Picnic benches, barbecue areas, entertainment areas, biking it has a a bit of everything. Kids love it.
Awesome place for a casual barbeque gathering
Walk with the family good
Great spot for lunch and a walk!
Very nice...lots of space and geese - you know what that means...
Great view of san Francisco
I was at work doing firefighter training seems like a fun place
Had a party here...clean, safe wonderful views and good facilities is what i can say about Middle Harbor Shoreline.....
Beautiful and relatively undiscovered park. Wonderful views of the SF skyline.
Nice view over 2 San Francisco, no restaurant
Beautiful location with a 180° view of downtown San Francisco skyline. Peaceful place to meditate and have a sandwich.
Beautiful scenery, great fishing location!
Nice quiet place to take a walk on a Sunday.
Really happy to find this park, hidden past the freeways with wonderful, serene views. Theres lots of places to walk and bike, but be careful when traveling to the park on foot- theres lots of truck traffic and no sidewalks in spots. Lots of picnic tables and spaces to sit and enjoy, plus little booths with info about the area. Perfect place for a lazy afternoon!
Pandemic peaceful
Quite no one around, tons of parking!!
Very nice and quiet place. You have an amazing view of San Francisco and you can watch huge container ship while loading. It is better to go in this park by bike.
Its fun waiting for hours in line to get inside SSA or EVERPORT terminal sitting in a truck not getting to enjoy any other aspects of Middle Harbor
Love this park for my 30 min break from the port. Its a good place to relax an look at the view
Went to see the blue angels perform. Got some good shots of them
Pretty remote, not very crowded, and a great view. Not riddled with needles or hobos like every other park in Oakland...
Beautiful place to have a picnic or a birthday. Or even a BBQ.
It would be a Beautiful place but has gotten more dirtier over the years starting to look run down, the views of the city are awesome especially on a clear day just to bad theyre letting it get so bad
Good party only cons it doesnt have grass and it has a lot of sand it comes up when the wind starts blowing
Its an oasis in the jungle
Interesting park. Lots of open space, no crowds, access to the water, a pier, BBQ areas, a cool observation deck with nice views of SF and the Oakland shipyards. A little windy earns it 4 stars.
The sunsets here are amazing. Just needs more grass.
The view of San Francisco....absolutely breathtaking..not to mention the lighthouse thats near...its a Bay area gemstone..
Great venue and gorgeous view of San Fransisco skyline
Pretty waterfront park and picnic area in an otherwise stark industrial landscape. There are some interesting info panels that tell the history of the area and describes some of the Port activities. Views include container shipping areas with the iconic Port of Oakland cranes all around. The grass dies here by early June, so its kinda brown in the hotter part of the year. We saw security personnel on patrol in a vehicle, who completely missed two cars driving into clearly marked pedestrian park be areas where lots of kids were riding bikes.
I love coming here and working out!! There is always people here working out however it is not too packed. There are benches at the top and bottom of the stairs. This is the place go when working out your legs!!
We had the most amazing time here at the Second Sky Festival! Kind of hard to access, but the view was absolutely breathtaking!
Cool little park with a great view of the ships coming and going from the Port of Oakland. There are also alot of recreational sailing and power vessels transiting through the area. You may also see United States Coast Guard vessels and various police boats.
Sunset on the bay, mmmm
Nice view, good place to have lunch with a friend
Went there for second sky festival. The festival was amazing. Phone connection was trash :(
A gem. You will want to drive. The views are super.
