An amazing journey back to the 19th century as all of the mansion’s original furniture and aesthetics have been left intact! Well worth the adventure into Oakland :)

Amazing place. Its all stuff from the time, mostly things that were actually in the house or other houses of the family. The 12-foot arched pocket doors, made from one log of redwood, are gorgeous. The tea was delicious - I hope they come out with a cookbook soon, Id love to make some of those recipes. Fascinating talk while we ate, too.I want to go back and see the garden in spring, as well. I got some honey from their bees - the hive sits in the garden, among the roses. Fun place to visit, I plan to go back.

A beautiful authentic Victorian historical house, built in 1884, with original furnishings and household belongings. Tours on Sundays are given by enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides who give information on many different aspects of the house, its contents and its previous inhabitants, the Cohen-Bray family. There is a wide variety of objects to see in the many different rooms of the house, including stunning Victorian woodwork and furniture and a fascinating clothing collection. The back garden is also used for events, school groups and community activities. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Oakland and want to learn more about its history in an authentic setting.

The Cohen Bray house was my familys. Holidays there are magical. The interior is absolutely beautiful and its lovely to see my relatives faces. Although it is now public and known as a haunted house, I always find it a peaceful and loving home.

I went with my mother and my friend here in the summer and it was so fascinating. We arrived early before the official tour scheduled and the tour-guide let us take an early tour of the house :) The tour guide had her own haunting experience, knew so much about the history of the home, its family, and its role in Oakland, Glad I got to learn so much about local history

One family owned mansion from 1884, all of the mostly unchanged original collection intact. Last family resident is in the servants quarters, main house open for tours and events. You can easily imagine life in the late 1880s. Wonderful, interesting volunteer opportunities, on grounds and in house.

Its a beautiful old house and makes a lot of California history very personal. Also, the back yard has recently been turned into a community garden for use by the local schools and is a great event venue!
