Really nice state park just off the ocean. They have nice picnic areas not far from the parking area. We climbed down a few trails that then bring you to the beach. It’s not very large park so it’s a nice stop after lunch for a walk.

Beautiful place for walking down the beach with sand on your feet and jumping out of the way of curious waves. The lighthouse is cute and I love my sweater I got from the basement store. I always come back whenever I am in town and I love it! Highly recommend!

Nice walking trails to the dunes and beach. Unfortunately the lighthouse is currently closed, apparently due to covid, and there is a gate so you cant even get close to it.

A small but wonderful area in Newport, OR. The area is home to the historic Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, which sits at the highpoint of the recreation site. It overlooks the beach below which boasts small sand dunes and the North Jetty.There is parking where the road passes through the main site, though it could possibly get a bit crowded on busy summer days. The area around the lighthouse has a number of picnic tables for those who want to spend time eating and taking in the sights.One of the highlights at this site is an overlook which is comprised of a wooden deck. From here, you can see the historic Yaquina Bay Bridge in its entirety spanning the bay. You can also see the North and South Jetty, which marks the channel for Naval vessels to make safe passage in and out of the harbor.One of the best times to see the bridge is just before sunrise. In the instances I have gone during that time, very few people were there. Sunrise from the lookout is beautiful...but it doesnt end there. Thats the time all of the fishing vessels start departing the harbor. Theres also a good chance to see a Coast Guard vessel as well. On my last visit, I observed 30 vessels departing the harbor.You can also follow a sidewalk next to the main road and walk under the bridge. The sidewalk will actually take you down to the bayfront if you follow it far enough.Great place. A lot to see, and a bit of history.

Lighthouses are one of my favorites, while travelling the Oregon Coast we’ve made our way to several of them and Yaquina Bay was one of them. Navigating around wasn’t bad at all.

Beautifu!l I love this spot! Lunch and a good view. Stunning sunsets and if your lucky enough to be here on a morning without fog you could see a breathtaking sunrise behind the bridge. I do think some upkeep is needed tho.

Fun place to visit in Newport. Very friendly staff. Down side is they are not currently letting anyone go up to the light. Gave a nice tour that included a history lesson on Oregon lighthouses.

Very informative tour of an incredible lighthouse that was brought back from the brink of demolition. Free self-guided tour allowing you access to most of the building and the gardens that surround. 12 minute video provides a great overview of the lighthouse, its history, and some of the history of the area. Incredible view of the jetties and boats coming in.

It is a beautiful place, with access to miles of beach, great views of the Newport Bridge, some well-developed trails, and very close to the historic Bayfront.

Youve got to check out this beach! It has it all. Yes, lots of sand, but also whale watching, rocks to climb on, tide pools to explore, and light houses and bridges to view. We stopped for a day, BUT stayed for a week (yes, thats how great it is). At night there are fires on the beach to enjoy. We stopped over the 4th of July and people were even lighting off fireworks on the beach, so cool. Until we meet again...

Beautiful. Saw some dunes beyond a row of houses and decided to pull off the highway to see if we could reach the beach. Quiet, open space with a lovely path leading down though the bushes from the parking lot. Kids had a lot of fun playing here. Felt untouched.

Nice picnic area

Really cool way to see Oregon history up close and at your own pace. My kids loved it which made me happy since I worried they might be bored. It can be closed for bad weather but we got lucky and it was nice when we went and the attendants were super friendly and courteous.

The place is beautiful. The lighthouse and living quarters are incredible, and the view is breath taking. The staff at the lighthouse, who are all volunteers, are knowledgeable, kind, passionate, and hospitable.

Great halibut fishing

From sweeping sand dune beach, to breaking waves, to jetty, to lighthouse, the recreation area offers a lot to do. We just enjoy beachcoming for polished rocks, shells, and strange washups.

The bridge is beautiful. Stop at the little drug store on the other side of the bridge for unique gifts.

What a nice and clean place

Beautiful. We went there on a blustery October day, much more dramatic than the sunny ones with clouds and rain and clashing waves. Saw tons of wildlife.

Very clean park area with lots of picnic tables to choose from. Either in the sun or shade. The gazebo area has a beautiful tribute to people lost at sea.

Gorgeous view of the ocean, and great place to take the iconic pic of the beautiful beach and bridge. Tiny crabs live in the rock crevices along the jetty, and if you are patient theyll peek out to see you!Often windy here, so bring your hoodie. Its fun to watch the ships going out and in, and just hang out awhile enjoying the scenery.

Beautiful, family friendly. My kids absolutely loved it! Cant go wrong with the beach :) There is a light house you can visit & a cute little historical home as well. Nice little park area with tables/benches where you can picnic.My only qualms is that there is no real bathroom, just portapots :/

Beautiful walking beach, nice scenery with views of two light houses, jetty, sandy cliffs, small dunes, and bridge over the bay. Easy walk to popular shopping and eating at Nye Beach, etc. Good parking for a moderate number of visitors at upper park with restrooms, a green picnic area, view point, lighthouse and a memorial building for lost sailors. Easy access to beach, a fairly short trek down.

What a wonder place to take a stroll. In and around the beautiful lighthouse. Lots to explore here. Great for kids.You can do guided tours for a fee or just wonder about on your own.The bathrooms were well kept. That was very nice to see.

I love going here!! This place is one of our family favorites! Theres so much you can do here from checking out the little shops, to crabbing or fishing, eating at Moes, seeing Ripleys believe it or not, or just checking out the sea lions and enjoying the view. You can also cross the bridge to see the aquarium as well. Theres always SOOOO much to do here even if its just a walk on the beach. Theres free parking next to the beach, restrooms, and a faucet to rinse the sand off. Defiantly a place to go visit and enjoy!

Beautiful views and good trail to the beach with good steps. Have not been on the trail for years so unsure about chair accessibility. Good picnic tables and areas with child playground.
