South Jetty (South Beach State Park)

We didnt get to explore the park itself cause we were out exploring other areas, but its a very quiet and well maintained area. Were planning on coming back soon and hope to explore the park, too

Great place to explore and watch boats walk beach. Little fog just rolled by.

It was a perfect evening for the beginning of Autumn. Still a bit warm, but the fogs began to roll in at sunset. The sand was soft and warm and the air smelled salty and perfect. Plus, watching the ships roll in was quite the spectacle!

Good birdwatching. Grebes, sea ducks, eagles, surf birds, and turnstones.

Good spot to see it all! Nice and flat Real smooth walk ways and sand dunes.. surfers use this area so fun out there to watch wind kites surf!. Hunt for collectibles. Lets go

Its hard to tell on the map, but there is a parking lot to the north near the actual Jetty (at the end of SW Jetty way). We followed the sign for day-use and parked in the south parking lot, and had a rather long walk up to the jetty. It was a nicely maintained paved path, probably great if youre biking! We enjoyed the bird watching and saw a seal, and even saw a human surfer on the bay side of the jetty! The beach was a very nice wide flat sandy area, great for dog walking, strolling, kite flying, all manner of beach activities, and apparently horseback riding too.

Stunningly beautiful beach! Well worth the hike through some dunes. Big flat sandy beach with a large jetty and of big black rocks. We went at low tide and found some cool tide pools in the rocks. Crabs, anemones and starfish were everywhere in the rocks. And crystal jellyfish were all along the shoreline. The beach is long length wise and widthwise as well, still plenty of beach to play on during high tide. We went on a beautiful sunny day and found a patch of fog to play in. A pisturesque location you dont want to miss!!

This beach play area has free parking and the wind is blocked near the rocks so families can play and not lose their towels or get too much sand in their picnic lunch. Plus, the water is shallow a long way out, so low tide reveals lots of shells and starfish.

Quite windy, plenty of walking, fairly peaceful due to spacious area and no overcrowding.

It was great. Took the kids down and cought a bunch of sand crabs. Time to bread them and deep fry them up.

Nice beach, nice bathrooms, enough parking, and good surfing.

You never know what you may see out on this cool jetty!

BRING WINTER CLOTH ALL SEASONS!!! No joking. It could be cold and windy in seconds. Trust me.

Its beautiful, wide oprn Oregon coast with a bridge of truly architectural splendor. What more could you want?

Fishing and crabbing is great.

It was an awkward time really to visit being the first weekend of lifted travel restrictions. I want to take a walk and test the camera on my new phone. Got the dog some exercise too.

Always a favorite! Horses, dogs, kite surfers, and the ocean. Always the ocean!

Very nice open beach with slow sloped beach into the ocean. Sand is nice, small waves and easy for kids to play without being knocked over.

Beautiful and family friendly, the beach is clean and has exciting species of plants such as yellow beach verbena and you often spot seals in the water just near the shore carefully studying the beach visitors.

Great place to jetty fish,or whale watch. There are wide areas to picnic. Always use caution, when climbing on the large rocks and be constantly aware of the waves. Over the years I have seen injuries and worse from lack of diligence while recreating on the north west coast.

Such a beautiful sunset. Got there about 45 minutes after sunset and the sun was just on the horizon. Flat beach and sand near the beginning of the jetty, making it fun for kids and dogs. Started to get rocky and just a short walk over rocks and boulders to the end.

Love the Oregon coast

This is our second time staying there. It has always been nice and clean. The beach is a short walk away with several trails from different parts of the park. They have a playground which always seems filled with kids. We didnt use their restrooms or showers so not sure how clean they are. I assume they agree nice and clean. They sell firewood at the hospitality center and have tall fire pits. They also have picnic tables. The garbage is up by the front so no easy garbage drop off spots in the park. They also have one spot to dump your sewer so be prepared for a wait, especially if you are close to check out time.

This is a great place to fish and explore!

Big campground. Pretty nice campsites. Some of the showers were not working when we stayed however. Cool trails to the beach and a bike path to the jetty. Yurts available too.

Very clean, great place to camp, just a walk away to the ocean, lots of good walking trails. Great and helpful staff. Felt very safe the whole time we were there!!

I have been coming to this beach since I was tiny and first moved to Oregon over 30 years ago. By far my favorite beach. We explored the tide pools along the beach side of the jetty as the tide went out. Then we walked the waters edge and saw jellyfish in the shallows, hermit crabs, and even saw the spray of whales while enjoying our lunch on the beach. Highly recommend this beach!

It was a beautiful morning. Even in the rainy weather yesterday it was a nice walk. We enjoyed watching the boats pass.

Great day use area, water is usually warmer due to shallow beach,love to fly kites with my grandson and watch the local wind surfers

Its a bit of a walk in sand. But a nice beach. There were people riding horses.

Its a beautiful beach with decent bathrooms. Not too crowded. Might be hard to get to for those with disabilities for the sand is very loose until you get closer to the water.

This is a crazy thing... I mean all jetties really are, all the sand dunes that have filled the void are nuts... The Earth is crazy and humans are industries. Also kinda a bummer all that scotch broom has popped up.... But here we are... Just little creatures wondering around this amazing place...

Public beach access has ample parking. Bathrooms are not bad. Just climb a small sand dune to get to the beach.

Clean campground. Great, clean beach access. Playground for the kids, campsites, yurts and rv sites with water and electric. Great for families.

This is an excellent fishing spot. I enjoyed it. Novice fishers should be very wary though. You have to climb out on slippery rocks to get the good spots. Very dangerous. Dont go alone or with poor foot wear. I recommend trying some where else unless you have some one there to show you what to do and what to fish. A stray wave can get ya fast

South jetty is a great place to fish,watch the ships come into port go out to see, feed the birds or ho down to the beach

This is my favorite place ever. I love crabing, riding my bike, playing at the beach and the park. Shopping in Newport is really fun. If you ever visit, try Clearwater, its a really good resturant. We were just there and actually came back today. Im really excited because we are goin back in 2 weeks, it will be so fun.

We were at the state park (31B) and there were bathrooms, picnic tables, and a water spiket to rinse off with. Access to the beach isnt too far. There are a couple sand bars there so watch the water behind you more, than the water in front of you. Be aware of your surroundings and have fun.

I love coming here for the bike path. It connects to South Beach campground and I ride this every morning when I’m staying there. South Jetty is a nice place to hang out and watch boats come and go from the Newport bay.

Rocky, sea life, interesting. A good place to explore, fish, relax.

Great area for birding. Lots of people also seemed to do well fishing there.

Everybody was great from the meet and greet to the cash out and the food was even better

Good amount of parking and beach access. Decent shoreline and spear fishing off of the jetty. Poor visibility due to turbid water makes it a poor location for divers looking for a visually impressive dive.

My son and I went fishing there. We didnt catch anything on this trip but we usually do. Be careful of the Rocks though slippery some of them. I fell today and hurt myself really bad I think I broke a few fingers and I got a concussion. But after we i still.managed to get nack fishing!!

Been going there for 30 years. Lots to do and the weather was great.

Great view of boats and ships entering and leaving the harbor and a popular place for locals to fish. Take your camera, binoculars, and a lunch and enjoy watching the boats go in an out of the Newport harbor. It gets windy and cold even on a sunny day out on the jetty so take a jacket and sunglasses. Great views of the bridge, the harbor, and ocean.

Great starting place for great jetty and bay views. A walk down the jetty will take you straight onto the beach. There are several beach access points from the South Beach park trail.

Love camping here nice walking trails

Rolling, grassy dunes lead to a broad sandy beach thats usually pretty empty. A spectacular walking beach.

Theres a rock along the jetti that has an animal foot print in it
