Astonishing old lighthouse... that was actually a full size house! Several rooms. Small hallways and super small spiral stairways and very low ceilings. Musty basement. A LOT of steps. Tours available. Gorgeous view of Yaquina Bay. Pretty cute Coastguard guys there too!

What a beautiful place! The beach nearby is apparently great for clams, as there were a lot of hunters roaming. We found a few large crabs in the tide pools that would meet the minimum size requirements for eating. The tide was out around 1100 in the morning and rolled in pretty rapidly over the next hour and half. Keep a watch on the water or youll be swimming!

It was one of the most majestic places I have ever been to and I am very grateful to my Lover for suggesting that we stop so I can pursue my passion by taking as many pictures as I wish.

I can’t believe that this is home. Such a wonderful peaceful beach. The sand dunes offer protection during the cooler windier days and the beach just seems to go on for miles and miles.

Lighthouse, whales close up and Sea Lions even closer. Perfect weather. What is there not to like. Look close in the one pic to see the whale spouting.

Very nice historic house for a lighthouse that served only a few years. Good restoration. Self-guided. Free. Lovely picnic areas and beach access so you can make a nice outing even though the museum only takes about 15 minutes to see.

Lovely restored lighthouse with very interesting historical displays and knowledgeable volunteers. Beautiful view. Don’t miss the garden out back. Plus it’s free but worth a donation.

Very cool lighthouse. The docents were very friendly and knowledgeable. We got to explore several rooms and levels. The garden out back and the views were amazing. Highly recommended!

Great place to get down to the beach. Lighthouse tours are cool but not amazing. Great rest stop, beautiful views!

Awesome black rock beach with amazing tide pools. The light house is picturesque, and gives an amazing ocean view. Be prepared for steep steps to get up and down from the beach. Would not recommend for those with mobility issues, but otherwise fantastic.

$5 to park and a hike to get there but it was after 4pm and IDK if theres a shuttle that takes people up. If you arent in halfway good shape or if you arent a walker its not a good lighthouse to visit.

A bit scary to see in broad daylight. Shouldnt be fed right next to telescope where alot of people gather.

Nice place to go but it was Monday. And it was closed. So if anybody wants to go there on a Monday dont it doesnt isnt open. Wish I could have been another day, but maybe another day I can go. And look inside

This is a great light house, it looks good. I only have pictures of outside, but its different from other light houses Ive seen. The house for the family is large and the tower is small. The surrounding area is beautiful and you can see the Yaquina Bridge from the lighthouse parking lot. I posted a picture of it.

A must see if youre into local history. I particularly find the architecture interesting, as it is unique for a lighthouse. Also, a nice park for a picnic and beach access.

The amount of history here is amazing! Every year we can we try to come back! The kiddos love seeing the ocean, birds and whales !The lighthouse is so beautiful and you can go inside for a tour! The amount of history is so awesome they also have a little gift shop in the basement

Boarded up due to high winds and potential fire concerns this is a nice little lighthouse just south of Newport, OR. Its good to visit before these places are devastated by the climate crisis.

Luckily we went during the covid19 pandemic and there wasnt a fee to get in. They didnt allow vehicles past the gate so you had to hike a mile to get to the lighthouse. I wouldnt pay to go here its better to get a view for free from the beach.

Amazing piece of history!

I love how they recreated how the house would have looked. All of the furnishings and unique details made it really fun to visit.

This lighthouse has always been my grandmas favorite lighthouse, and she loved lighthouses, so naturally it has become my favorite lighthouse. I frequently visit Newport, and never leave without at least stopping for a quick photo

The significance of the aid it provides for fishermen and the history. The maintenance and repairs that have been done to keep it up and running. The location with a great picnicking park surrounding it. They have a lot of good information posted about the history. A great view of the bridge and is still in Newport. Has good paved pathways to the lighthouse and all over the park. A scenic must do.

Visiting from Dallas Texas and stumbled upon this lighthouse and took a tour. It is so cool! The very old old artifacts, the way the rooms are set up like they used to be originally, and the welcome reception from the lady who worked the front desk was just perfect. The view from there is very good also. I love the history!

After just going to the Oregon Coast Aquarium and learning about the coastal bird species, we went to Yaquina Bay Lighthouse! Now, there were those birds I just saw but now in freedom and nature! Very fun & pleasant stop after the O.C.A.!!

Stunning views not to be missed

I love going there to take in the view and a part of Oregon history. The staff there is always informative . There is always plenty of parking and a fair amount of people during the summer, the lighthouse has unisex restrooms and the gift store has some really cute stuff to take home as keepsakes. I visit once a yr, and it always thrills me to be there.

Its such a wonderful historical place and the couple who run it knew some much about the history of the lighthouse it is a nice place to the the family

It may not be a working light but it is however something everybody should come see and learn a bit of History

Beautiful park with a great historic museum. Very tight quarters inside, so be careful. Enjoy the view! Plenty of parking and picnic areas.

A must stop at spot if you love history, lighthouses or simply wish to learn a little about the local culture too. Amazing views, nice self guided tour, interesting video about the history of the lighthouse down in the basement with semi-comfortable seating. Outside the light house is surrounded by raspberry and black berry bushes and beautiful Oregon coastal plant life. The views of the surrounding area from the top are amazing too! If you have the time take a swing by and donate as you can as it does help to keep up this wonderful piece of local history.

Great place, very historical with an amazing view. The stairs and hallways tend to be on the smaller and thinner side so keep that kn mind when travelling. Big groups probably wont fit very comfortably in there.

The people who worked there are very friendly and informative. We had fun looking at how the family that lived in the lighthouse lived.

Super cute lighthouse, didnt know that it was barely used.

Nicest volunteers, helped us with ADA entrance for Mom-In-law, showed us the movie about the lighthouse history even though it was 20 minutes to close, made sure we saw all the wonderful lighthouse rooms and even gave us a print out of the true story of Muriel and the haunted light house mystery.

Friendly hosts and interesting, though small number of rooms in this lighthouse that only operated 3 years over a century ago.

This is a beautiful place to visit! Make sure to check out the garden and get a tour from the amazing gardener

The renovation and information plaques and pictures were wonderful. The curators Duane and Debra were friendly and knowledgeable about the lighthouse and the whale watching

Parked our SUV right in front of this stunning view from the Lighthouse. Ordered some delclious seafood from Mos and grubbed out with a view. Heaven!

Loved it very informational friend staff. Third floor was a little creepy heard voice of little girl but I was only person on third floor and no one on second floor.

Well taken care of lighthouse. Inside the lighthouse is beautiful. I been to other lighthouses that are not beening taken care of. Dont plan for later see them now.

I was sad you werent allowed to go to the very top of the lighthouse, but for safety it makes sense. The lighthouse is unique and the historical items in the room make it an interesting site to visit.

Beautiful ocean views, access to the beach below, clean paths. Some wake watching as well. Bathroom on site and picnic tables available.
