Short walk over to the home, close due to COVID Im sure. Beautiful and serene spot.
A great piece of Florida history. This historic site is inside the Canaveral National Seashore park and so has a national park entrance fee for the vehicle. After entering you travel about 1.25 miles (just past the Apollo Visitor’s center to the River Road turnoff on the right-hand side of the road. This road will take you by the parking areas 7 and above. There are signs for the turnoff for this site. I believe that it is about parking lot 8. Parking lot for this location is a fair distance (about 300 yards down the road) from the physical structure and the river. It is a beautifully restored house to museum for the time period. Upon entry we were greeted by a park ranger. He offered and we watched a 13 minute video. Following that we looked at the displays in the first two rooms of the house. The staff member was very friendly. Outside the house there is a dock to the north and a walkway and trail to the south. We did not go very far along the walkway. If you are a Florida history fan, this is a must-see!
Quite place. Love the Pier was dolphins. Fishing would be a good spot
Wide Sandy road walk, maybe a quarter mile to the house. You can walk the grounds and surrounding trails on your own. The house itself is only open when a ranger is available. It is kind of special to sit on the back porch in a rocking chair and watch the intercoastal waters. Very scenic. Very relaxing. Parking area easy to find.
Beautiful place, it was unfortunately closed to the public but we will be going back
Beautiful house inside a beautiful park, but its rarely open. I wish that they offered tours of the actual house, and told more information on the actual house. However, they have a very interesting video and the house has displays with information on the history of the town and the people who lived there. Eldora has a fascinating history!
Nice gem off the beaten path in the Canaveral national seashore. The history of the area is quite fascinating and there is so much pride that the rangers show about the area.
Beautiful place inside Canaveral National Seashore. Its is worth a visit, especially if the house is open for tours. Be aware mosquitos are a problem at certain times of the year. They have lots of pictures and information and a 15 minute film about the area and people who lived there. Very nice overall.
It was so interesting to learn about the history of the area you live in! How it was such a bustling shipping area! To learn about how people had a complete settlement out there, and there still is a house standing after all this time!
Loved it. Very friendy attendant.
Very nice. The volunteer was very helpful and knowledgeable. Beautiful surroundings.
Too bad theyve removed the inside tour. The view outside is gorgeous sunset.
Interesting place love a house like this.
Beautiful, however please note it is closed until December 2018 for remodeling.
Good place.
Although we didnt have much time to look around this historic home we will be back in the area next winter to visit.
Really cool place
