My Favorite Fishing Spot! Love this park so much we bought a yearly pass. I live in Orlando and we love going fishing every weekend (when we can) and this is a great place to spend the day. The Park is right on the inlet so you have the river on one side and the beach on the other side with a lot of great spots. If you have a dog it is dog friendly and its fun to watch the dogs playing and enjoying themselves in the water. Parking can get crowded and the lot fills up quick so you do have to get there early. There is a place to wash you and your dog off, which is really nice after a long day in the sand. There is a long boardwalk to talk a nice stroll through the dunes and a observation tower on beachside to see the wonderful views. I always see wide variety of wildlife here Turtles, Birds, Manatees, Sharks, we even spotted a whole live sand dollar near the beach. The mullet were plentiful that day and we caught & released a Spanish Mackerel. Always enjoy the day here! I LOVE FLORIDA!

Always beautiful and a quiet spot at the jetty. Lots of people fishing though so watch out for fishing hooks if you go barefoot! Also a great spot for seeing local Florida native plants (aside from the invasive Brazilian Pepper) and lots of neat tide pools full of life!

Parking is $10 for the day, which is kind of steep, but $20/year, which is reasonable if you live nearby. It has a very nice boardwalk loop walk above the dunes, with a lot of beach access. Beaches were clogged with seaweed, though. Good view of the inlet lighthouse. Lots of dog-friendly areas.

We absolutely love this park! We set out early and arrived for sunrise, and it was wonderful in every way.The boardwalk is gorgeous and well-maintained, the beach is beautiful, and the park staff are kind and informative. We especially love that pets are allowed on leash. This protects wildlife, ensures an enjoyable experience for other guests who might not want strange dogs in their space, and helps the park remain pet friendly. Our dog is fearful of strange dogs, so the leash laws enabled us to enjoy the ocean without worrying that off-leash dogs would charge us. When we were there, everyone was obeying the posted rules, and the park staff stressed their importance upon our arrival. We were thrilled with this level of responsibility!Smyrna Dunes Park is our new favorite. They cater to people, pets, and wildlife all at once — and I couldnt appreciate it more. We will be back!

We thought we’d check the side of the park out, since we have the Ponce Inlet side is where we got our parks pass. It’s definitely more of a walk then on the Ponce side. But it was pretty cool to check out and we only made it along the river, didn’t even make it to the ocean side or jetty. All the pics from this are taken by my kids that wanted to take pictures along the route.

Deck/dock are poorly maintained. Nails and screws protruding upward from walking surface. My daughter tripped over a fasteners and split her kneecap. O carried her out if the park myself only to meet a rude beach patrol officer. I had to convince him to give me a bandage to stop the blood. Park employees were no help. True story.

Love being able to drive the car right on the beach, of course. And the ice cream truck coming half way through the day was really nice. One thing I didnt like was the nasty, snotty, one word answer, power tripping man that was working lifeguard the day I was there. Ive gone to the beach my whole life and have huge respect for real lifeguards. This guy, on the other hand, was lazily sitting around in the A/C of his truck driving dangerously close to people with children to verbally abuse them over petty infractions. Love the dog park near by too.

I was pleasantly surprised with this trip to the Smyrna Beach that is dog friendly. We didnt know what to expect and how it was going to go with 3 kids and a dog (shes never been to the beach before). Lets just say it was a really great day with no issues and no complaints. The weather was perfect and we even beat the raining coming. We got there around 1230 (on a Tuesday) and there werent many parking spots left but the walk to the inlet was actually super reasonable. It only took us 5 minutes to get there and we went to the left of the pier which had a perfect little secluded area. We had a great time with our family and highly recommend it to other families with kids that may be worried about the big ocean currents and the big waves knocking their kiddos down. The water was perfect and only had waves when boats came by.

This place has little to offer as nature walks, and walking is something youll do a ton of here. If you want to go the ocean side ots a lllloooonnnnggggg walk only to be met with beach traffic from people who are going to the same beach you just paid $10 to walk to. No facilities of any kind on the ocean side. On the inlet side there were nice facilities and less walking, but still a lot of walking. The beach was nicer on the inlet side imo.

I brought my 4 year old here on a weekday and it was great. We went to the dog beach on inlet side. It was about 1/4 mile walk from parking lot to beach via a very nice newly installed boardwalk with no shade so it was hot! The inlet beach was nice for kids but have to be careful with drop off since its a boating inlet. Lots of dogs which we love but didnt bring ours. Restroom area was clean and right next to parking, so if you have to go potty during the day you have a LONG haul to get there, then go back again to your beach spot. We really enjoyed our day here and are headed back tomorrow!

This is great place to visit with or without a dog, love that its a dog park, as long as they are on a leash, they get a big section of New Smyrnas great beach to paddle in the ocean. Its got a lovely fishing pier and a looped boardwalk which has been renovated not too long ago. The loop is just over a mile and has off shoot boardways that lead you to the beach itself also, some shelter seating on the way round so you can stop and take in the views, we particularly like the large raised covered deck which pretty much give you a view of the whole park.

Amazing beachfront! My 7 and 4 year old loved playing in the ocean and collecting shells. Wevisited on a Tuesday morning for about 3 hours. Only thing I would add is some sort of mileage markers on the boardwalk. We came off the beach and had no idea how long a walk we had back to the parking lot. If we go again, well probably drive out onto the beach from town but down to the Smyrna Dunes end as far as you can go and walk from there. The scenic overlooks on the boardwalk would be nice places to have lunch of you planned and packed for that.

Our dog enjoyed it. But then a young German Shepard came and kept barking at all the dogs. Our dog was getting uncomfortable and started whining. We sat in the water and was calming our dog down, then the German Shepard came right up behind me. So my dog natural got up to greet it. It started acting aggressive and I was trying to get on my feet, while having both dogs behind me. The owner of the German Shepard had no regards to the situation and let the dog do what it wanted. Other than that, the trip was nice. Always be mindful to other dog owners. Dog greetings are very important and should be addressed with care and caution.

Just make sure you have your leash. There are ghost crabs and little snapping turtles as well, but they stay away from people. The water is typically lukewarm - but be careful!!! The tidal current can get very strong, especially the further out you go, so stay close to shore and keep kids on the beach.

This is the beach I normally come to, so my dog can enjoy the water. The water can be mucky at times. Make sure that you check the tide before you come. You can get farther down the beach when the tide is low, during high tide you will have to wade through water if you want to get down farther to a more remote place. Most people have good watch on their dogs.
