Just a beautiful river fed by water springs. Hopefully later they add more restrooms with showers and keep them open daily for the public. And people please remember to pick up after yourselves, please dont leave your trash behind.
I really wanna come back here when the weather is warm and I can tube float the river.
There is a very nice trail and river that can get in the water clear
Great Park on the river. Nice area to walk or swim.
Its very beautiful and peaceful the people there are very nice and friendly
This is a great little water front park. The water is super clear and the park is clean.
Great place to hang out friendly people talk with you can keep to yourself great tubbing and swimming
I was there early this morning fishing with deer, yes deer. Green grass, sunrise, some sweet old ladies in their swim caps maintaining their girlish figures. I love our community
I always enjoy coming to this park. It’s always family friendly and the lark is always clean and open to the public. On a beautiful day you will see many families just having picnics and being set up any where and every where around the park close to the water. There is no lifeguard on duty so you swim at your own risk. There are restrooms by the kids play ground and there are a few stores close by. It’s also very close to Schlitterbahn.
I have swam there my entire life. I absolutely love it Waters clear never too too cold never hot fresh Springs. As long as you have respect for one another watch out for each other and dont tear the place up if you stay wanderful for everybody for many many years to come.
Love this place... family friendly
Great Park to go and spend with the family or friends.
Beautiful park and definitely a good place to unwind
They need a sign at the first drop off. We lost all my stuff and I almost drowned. Besides that the rest of the river was great!
Tubing fun. Clear water.
Nice. My son and friends went scuba diving in the Comal River before it was closed.
Residents park free with their river parking pass... Bring your own tubes and float to the last exit and walk back to your car!
Great place to fish and swim!
Be prepare you will need your own pump and rope to tide the kids close to you. Also your water tube right measurement.
This place is perfect for bbq with the family with easy access to the river. Many tables available. Please KEEP IN MIND if you like to go early you must reserve your table for $25. Parking is good but it cost $30 trashcans are at everytable. Some tables have shade and the bathrooms are near by. Parking on the other side is $20.No glass containers at all so bring your cups with lid. Also the river is deep and there is lifejackets u can get for small kids.
There used to be areas where there was free parking now all parking is $30.00 unless you plan on spending the entire day it isnt worth going. I used to love going for just a couple of hours now I will have to somewhere else to go
I love this park! It gets a bit crowded in the summer, but its a great place to put in a tube and relax for a bit. Theres also a small playground, picnic tables, and grills. Its a wonderful family atmosphere perched next to cool, clean river water. The tube chute makes for great people watching and the divers are always friendly and willing to help those who have lost precious items.
Nice peaceful place for a family
Beautiful Place! Great place to jump in the river, if ya wanna go thru the tube shoot
Unbelievable scenery. Peaceful.
This is a great park! So beautiful, well maintained! There is a nice trail that is ADA friendly, and steps that go right into the river! Picnic tables, girls, even free life jackets! The park staff are always friendly. I could go on and on, but its just a great place!
One of my favorite spots in all of Texas. I could spend hours here floating down the river
It was good 2 get out n go tubbing. A lot of people were there.
Favorite place to dip into the Comal!
Cool park but the swing and cable were closed along with the playground. Made no sense.
I was very disappointed with my visit this time, I have always enjoyed my visit there but, this time they didnt let us in. There were people there having a good time, but my family was not last in.
Crystal clear water, bcuz it’s a spring! Amazing, and free. Unless you need a tube!
$30 to park, very limited parking. Had to drive around quite a bit to find a spot. $25 to picnic.
Hinman Island Park is a very nice part of the Comal River. It offers picnic areas with grills, a tiny playground for the children, and a bathroom. It has three sections to enter the Comal unless you dont mind diving off the short ledges in-between them. The parks and recreation of New Braunfels have now started offering life jackets for people who would like to grab one and go which I think you just drop back off at the stations provided. Pretty sweet! It is swim at your own risk, so if you cant swim or have children I suggest you keep an eye out for each other and the little ones bc it is deep in most parts where you cant touch bottom. Overall great swimming spot.
Is awesome! The water is crystalline. Some times you see turtles.
Fun water experience I recommend going on the tube shoot with a tube.
Nice little area for swimming or tubing. Just remember No disposable containers of any kind. No public consumption of alcohol. They charge 2 dollars per wristband to float off you have your own tube. Or you can rent one from a near by business for about 30-40. The area in front of the river is sometimes gated off. If it is youll need to download an app and pay 10 bucks. Overall nice place but it used to be better.
Good social distance whole time I was thefe
On the weekends, they charge 20 for parking and 25 for a picnick table. I understand why they do it, but I still I feel like this is overpriced.
Clear water and beautiful sights
Beautiful. People scubing and fishing. Very pretty. And a nice little childrens playground and bathroom.
Best place Ive ever been too!
The paved walking trail is very short
Love this place. Free picnic areas, easy access to the river. They provide life vests for kids. Only wish parking was not so expensive but they have to make their money some how. Been coming for years will come back for sure
Very peaceful place to rest, picnic, walk/run or swim when it it warm. We love to take the SUPs out here on the summer as well as fish.
Got what I needed. To cool off in Texas spring water. Had a great time.
Love this place, definitely worth a visit or 5
Great place to take the family. Have a picnic lunch, Dunkirk chosen of the water. Great place.
This was our first weekend visiting this park and we had a great time. The entire staff was so wonderful. My daughter had an allergic reaction the first day and the staff was fantastic. They called the EMT, they escorted me to my truck to get me to the hospital faster. The second day did not disappoint. Everyone, from the Park Rangers, The Police and city workers were extremely nice and helpful. We will return next month. Great job to the city.
Great place to go float ... there are about 3 fast chutes so small children will need to be supervised. Also be aware of the trash/containers allowed and prohibited. No plastic or aluminum can allowed in the water when tubing
Always an excellent time. Great fun with clean water and spacious picnic spots. Awesome spot for some aquatic sport.
Just got to say it is F,n awesome here. Summer is here great place to bring the kids to relax and unwind. There is BBQ pits everywhere people laughing and chilling kids running around its a good place to be to have some fun
Beautiful park. The water is crystal clear
Beautiful and clean water, kinda deep but the park district leaves a trailer full of flotation harnesses for anyone that cant swim. Its a use and return policy at no charge. The river is kinda deep there...you know the old saying that slow rivers run deep and thats the case her. No cans or bottles are allowed but thats the way it should be. Just be respectful and responsible.
Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Great place to go for a walk
What a great plays with lots of fun people and activity with a beautiful River and sunshine.
Great place to frequent: There is so much to do here: swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, fishing, biking, bird watching, and even singing...with a ukulele. Also, if you get here early enough, free parking.
Closed with no notice for no reason, not even a refund for the $35 parking when we had to leave 10 mins after parking.
Good place!
Not like it used to be, parking payment, no double tubes.
Very nice and familiar place
Besides loosing my IPhone in the river I had a great time LOL! But that was on me because I decided to take out my phone from it’s secured sipped water proof bag to record when going through the first water-shoot It’s a great place to come and soked in the sun along with a drink
Always nice but bathrooms not so much lol
So beautiful and cool water.
GREAT PLACE TO GO TO TUBE OR TAKE YOUR DOG AND JUST JUMP IN AND SWIM! clear clean cool water just wish I didnt live 45 minutes away.
Had such a fun day. I have seen many improvement to this park over the years. A very nice place to picnic or BBQ while enjoying the river.
Gets packed fast so the earlier you come the better. Theres also a $25 picnic fee for non residents. But I still love the location.
Had a blast!
This is an incredibly beautiful park! We were surprised to learn that all roads to Hinman Island park are closed on the weekend and patrons must park elsewhere and walk in. But even so, the river is slow moving here making it great for swimming. Tubes are the king, though and many are floating by, carrying their passengers through a lazy, enjoyable day.Hinman Island park has many picnic tables available to occupy and set up for the day. Park Rangers come by and collect $25 for their use, which is noted on the New Braunfels Parks and Rec website. If you bring a canopy, know that they do not allow you to stake them down, so bring a different way to secure them.
Great place to do the Polar Plunge on New Years Day
So much fun
Very nice park on the Comal river. Restrooms and grounds are well maintained, lots of picnic tables and grills.
Nice place
Went on a cold morning...very peaceful and calm....catfish on the bottom of the river
Sadly, they totally take advantage of it being summer and charge a crazy amount ($30) to park your car anywhere now. Unless you walk really far away.
Perfect place to tube if youre into bringing your own tube and enjoying the day grilling at the river. Get there early of you want a place to hang out. Parking is pricey but it will save you a ton from all the paid tubing companies. Its just a few blocks walk from the take out site to the put in site once your river trip is complete. Hinman Island is located directly before the first tube chute. Float all day with a $5 wristband in 2019.
Depending on the holiday- this is a great place for family fun. River is spring fed so the water is crystal clear. Make sure to read current rules on parking fees and what kind of drink containers are allowed. The city of New Braunfels tries really hard to maintain the area clean safe and fun.
Fun place but $25 picnic fee is RIDICULOUS!
The park is gorgeous this time if year and very easy to enjoy the natural beauty sans the normal Summer crowds. The park is clean, well maintained, and larger than the entrance lets on. I definitely plan on returning when it warms up for a float.
Nice park with plenty of shade. Has grills which was nice. Close to the water.
Nice cool evening to take a peaceful walk.
Great place to swim when the river isnt flooded with tubers
We go there as often as possible. 2x a month! Looking forward to next summer
Beautiful park, with little parking.
