Wonderful day checking out their yearly barn sale. Not only did we get vintage pieces taking care of but also were able to talk to knowledgeable people. They have lovely buildings, history documented and even delicious brauts on pretzel bread. Check them out! History is important.

My cousin had her baby shower here recently. It was a beautiful antique style venue that included a full kitchen. They do require cleanup at the end but I was told the rental price was not bad. My kids enjoyed looking at all the old antiques.

Step back in time as you tour these original historic homes from the 1850s. This was the original town created by Prince Carl Braunfels Solm. He brought boatloads of Germans who were escaping poverty and famine seeking a fresh start. Prince Carl bought a very large tract of land for farms and created several towns. ☆☆☆☆☆ The Historical Preservation Society carefully and lovingly transported these homes from their original sites downtown. Painstakingly restored and rebuilt homes as per historical records. ( Homes were frail, some dmged in transit). ♡♡♡♡Wonderful, dedicated members are well versed in the history & a wealth of details. They are warm, friendly & accondating. Waited 30 mins for us as we traveled in. Free but Welcome & Need Donations. They are restoring & furnishing other buildings . Its quite expensive. You are given a personal guide & walking tour through the homes and barns. They explain the lives of the original owners and daily life in the settlement. Education was a strong tenet with schools built every 6 miles. German settlers arrived with the clothes on their backs. Very industrious; they had their own newspaper, brewery, blacksmith, music teacher, church . The general store contracted female residents to sell their wares ie clothes, pies, etc to earn extra money. The community was close & cohesive despite all the obstacles in their past.■■Locals can hold weddings there & several festivals held on property as well. Always looking for German historical artifacts to add to their collection.■■Please visit this site & support the organization so history can be preserved forever. Great for all ages.♧♧ special perk: found long lost relatives!PS Prince Carls family castle on Braunfels, Germany is open for tours. Some decendants still live there.

Should.be one of your first two stops.when visiting the area. More fascinating history here.than you would think. Guided.tour, call ahead for odd hours and.tour times. Volunteers so give them a break and work with their.schedules. Going here and the Antique Furniture museum will give.you a deeper.appreciation of what the earlier German settlers went thru to settle the area.

I went to a wedding here and it was beautiful. The reception was inside with a great little breakfast buffet. Im not sure if it was catered or what, tho. This place has an old town country fell and it reminds me of a museum. The inside has an old country store kind of feel. All around great place.

This wedding venue is BEAUTIFUL outside and inside! My wedding was in the beginning of April and the flowers on the property were bloomed! I loved that I walked down the aisle from the front of the crowd instead of through the crowd. It gave me the feeling that they werent even there and it was much more intimate between me and my husband! The do have an occupancy limit of 100 but on the plus side they let you decorate however you want (excluding putting holes in the Forke Store walls). We were able to use whichever vendors for food/drinks (we DIY everything). The price is beyond reasonable for the value your getting. If I had it to do over again I would pick this venue again and again!!!

I enjoyed hearing Gemischter Chor Harmonie sing last Saturday afternoon and afterward the dancers showed how to perform a few German dances. What a joy to hear and see them all again. The market was above my budget, but I picked some information for friends, and the food was delicious. The Market was, as far as I am concerned, a successful venture for Conservation Plaza. The gardens still gave a hint of blossom here and there, and anyone in the area should see the historic Forke Store on site.
