Ill say this first and foremost; I you are planning to visit this place make sure you put everyone in one car, or as few cars as possible. Its popular, especially if its Autumn. The leaf peepers will be out in full force and so will the park rangers, and the rangers give tickets for parking and speeding!Aside from that its a beautiful park. We saw the Wick farm and the soldiers guys. Both are interesting in their own way. I imagine when the pandemic is over they would have actual historic reenactments going on but not for now. The huts are fun since they were built to specs of the time and are mostly as authentic as recreations can be. Kids will have a good time going inside. The parade grounds are a little underwhelming since they are all overgrown at the moment. The trails are in great condition, if not a little narrow and thorny for the amount of traffic they get.Definitely worth your while to visit.
It was a beautiful morning for a walk where the morning sun seemed to ignite the fields of wheat as well as the fall foliage. We also had the chance to reflect on our history and share that with our grandchildren.
Didnt go into visitor center as it was closed but had a good time on the trails. Mostly stuck with the yellow trail which took us a very long time due to the ripe raspberries all along the trail. There were enough signs and markers that the kids stayed entertained but not bored. They also like exploring the replica soldiers huts. Trails were very well marked and matched the online map I found.
A pretty scenic place. Great for talking walks, photography, time with the kids and family, etc. I love National Historic Parks, and this one is a gem. I never knew it existed right in the town where my two daughters were born. It’s a great place for a photowalk. I’ll definitely be returning, Lord willing, and I encourage anyone in the area to have a visit. It’s also a nice slow drive through the park, if you just want to look and not get out.
Great spot to learn more about the American Revolution. You can have your National Park passport book stamped and kids can earn a junior ranger badge. Clean bathrooms and water bottle refill station too.Took our scouts on a 3 mile hike including visiting the Soldiers Hut, Wick house, and the visitor center. Nice 1/2 day trip.
Good trail. Suitable for kids.
I love visiting this park, walking the trails and the historical sites at this park and those associated with it.
Would have enjoyed it better if it were open.
This visiting center is in the entrance of Morristown Historical Park. You will get the maps of the trails here. Lot of books have been kept on the American Independence as well as the leader and first presiden let George Washington. You can buy memento from here. The lady receptionist was very helpful.
Well worth the trip and plan for a mild but beautiful hike if you like that sort of thing. . Small museum and very few original historical buildings left in this pivotal valley where George Washingtons troops Winter Camped in 1780s. 15 minute documentary was very well done and educational. The reproduction of the living quarters of the enlisted men drove home just how precious.amd hard won our freedom in the United States is.
A lovely place to visit, especially in fall!
Site of Revolutionary War encampment for 2 brutal winters that changed the course of the conflict and brought Independence closer to realization.
National Park Service is the best.
Been to a fair number of National Park Visitor Centers. This Center was not as welcoming as most I have visited. It has a bit of merch, a self-start video and a Ranger who did not seem as well informed as other Rangers in National Parks. You have to pay for the trail map. However, there is no entrance fee to the Park. The Visitors Center is located in the main body of Jockey Hollow, which includes replicas of soldiers huts and the Wick Farm, which housed Revolutionary War forces for three harsh winters. A little further west and across the street on Tempe Wick Road youll find the (Revolutionary War) New Jersey Battalion HQ and the Cross Estate Gardens, also worth a visit.
Great place to start your walk through the Jockey Hollow! Nice little museum and gift shop too. We go here at least once a year in the Fall when the leaf colors are the best!
Ive been coming here for years, and its a great place. Its great learning about our nations history.
Nice and clean. Well laid out. Will go back in warmer weather to walk around more.
Great place to take a walk with your dog (or no dog). The tour road loop is 3 miles has some serious hills but its one way and not very many cars. Its a nice break from fighting traffic and salty roads in the winter. You can enjoy the outdoors in relative quiet.
Great place to hike
Did 10 miles hike with Boy Scouts. Trail maps are not good to follow. Make your best guess !!!
I love running the trails here
Its a part of US revolutionary history. Unfortunately the visitors center was closed, i will go back to visit. Park is open 8am every day, but closes from 5pm to 8pm, depending on season. I want to explore it for long running trails. Good to bring dogs there.
I have loved it here since my childhood field trip. Great visitors center, hiking trails, Wick house and garden and soldiers hut.
Great little museum great staff lots of little gidt items to buy
Significant Revolutionary War site. The school tour was fascinating. Very knowledgeable guides. Lovely gift shop with many books for digging deeper.
Excellent people giving detailed information. When combined with the more famous Valley Forge a very deep understanding of the development of the American forces comes alive.Great hiking except it was raining cats and dogs. Take the auto tour at minimum.
Nice little visitor center located in the heart of the park next to the farm. Accomodating staff, but I suggest having a map if the trails ready to go on your phone because they dont give them out for free. Little gift shop is there and decently clean bathrooms.
Headed here after visiting Washingtons head quarters. I love going here. Went many times as a kid. I got to bring the kids for the first time. They loves it.
Was not expecting a shop! Nive ready hiking trails
Very interesting. All you ever hear about is Valley Forge, but the Winter encampment here was just as bad or worse. Very knowledgeable staff. Grounds well kept.
Good place about george washington
So grand. Just beautiful. You can hike here for hours. Take photos. Sounds of nature Clean bathrooms. Various parking locations.
Saw revolutionary demonstration there it was awesome and the park is gorgeous
Great place to have walk in the nature while every where else are covered by snow. A whole loop takes one hour to complete, just right for us.
Clean visitor center with friendly staff. You can enjoy a little video or check out the fun items for sale in the shop area.Buy a state park passport and get it stamped!
Outstanding visitors center with interactive interpretive exhibits. Bring your kids and introduce them to American History
Exciting for the kids to go hiking. Excellent gift shop.
Amazing History.Frozen,winter,and Gen.Washington...
This place is packed with history. It has a beautiful location in the hills outside of town. A great place to wander the trails and learn about the Revelotionary war.
Easy 7 miles
Great place with very helpful folks
Great trail to bike on around the grounds, visitors center has plenty of books on the revolutionary war.
A very good place for biking or hiking not far from Morristown. Free parking at visitors center.
Beautiful Autumn day!!Love this history in this park
Went to visit Jockey Hollow with a boy scout troop. We visited the visitor center then went on a hike. Everyone had a great time and learned some history in the process. It was early spring and there was still a bit of snow here and there.
Love the red trail at jockey hollow... beautiful walk by the stream!
Great Park...but why is it closed so often Sat 1/20/18 11am...gate shut 45 degrees out?
Beautiful
An amazing piece of U.S. history.
Awesome park. Great trails. Serene
Great education for the entire family about the revolutionary war.
Rangers ticket you if you leave 10-15 min after 8pm closing.
Beautiful paved walk...some cars driving through
The park was OK but the worst thing at this park is the homes were the soldiers lived. There is blood in there. I Filmed the video of my self running down the hill (for fun) as soon as i saw the blood. That is scary and they should clean up the blood.
Best kept secret. Great place
Very helpful!
Great park with historic interest. However, be mindful of many loose dogs being walked off leash (not permitted) especially if you are with children.
Really good place to spend an afternoon. Multiple hiking trails and well preserved artefacts.
Good place for a day, historic hike.
Awesome beautiful views and the information clerk was informative and enthusiastic about what he was describing and he did so very well, made for a beautiful experience
Potentially good, but not very helpful or informative. The website did not have accurate information, and it was difficult to find out what was happening today, and the time for everything.
Had a great time hiking and looking at all historical points. Awesome time!
Perfect place to learn about history and go for a nice hike
A lot of walking! Staff was very informative about the area, and I loved the views!
Cool place to take the kids.
Good open grounds for picnics, spending time away from the hustle bustle of city life
Loved the trails, didnt love the ticks.
The ranger is very knowledgeable!
A nice and quiet park, good for hikes and just getting away.
Im usually there to take pictures of the scenic beauty.
Excellent local national park. Great trails
Great store but we had a ranger that was very rude and not happy with something
Best place for a walk.
The grand loop trail was a pretty nice walk.
Very interesting
We get to see the birds.we got to go to the stream and look for insects
Great place to hike short trails and learn about the sufferings and hardships endured by George Washington and his soldiers during the American Revolutionary War. Very kind and responsive staff members.
