Beware of tight spaces, also I don’t believe it is wheelchair accessible. If you are able to visit this place, you should. It is amazing to see how they lived inside of this submarine and see how much work went into maintaining the ship. So much history.

It was fun to explore this submarine. The stairs are steep, small doors, and a tight fitting in places. This is NOT a negative thing. It would just not be idea for someone in a wheelchair or someone that cant handle small spaces. It is clean, beautiful, and amazing to see.

Great museum! Been driving by this site for 45 years. Finally stopped. Well worth the money and time. Too much to see in one trip. Will return. VERY well maintained.

One of the rare opportunities to actually get inside a real sub. Amazing experience. IMHO the info system could be better and more detailed. Still, great place, you could learn a lot. Just watch your head! :)

Overall great memorial which encompasses the USS Alabama battleship, the USS Drum submarine, a large aircraft indoor pavilion which has a large number of of aircraft on display inside, and multiple aircraft on display outside around the site. The Alabama was much bigger than expected, and you can tour most of the ship (including top decks and below decks). There’s a self guided tour for both Alabama and Drum, but you are free to walk around freely on the Alabama (Drum is too small inside so must go in one direction). There’s a gift shop as well.

Great place for any history buff. Very little was off limits, you could explore almost the whole ship and submarine. It was very easy to engage because of all the stuff we were able to see, touch, and go into. I highly recommend!

Those submarines they built in WW2 are bigger than you think when they are displayed out of the water. Even better, you can tour it from stem to stern and see every knob and dial. My mind whirled when I considered what it took to run it, especially in battle conditions.

Great experiencing the inside of the USS Drum. Much less time than touring the USS Alabama. One passageway for the length of the boat. However, the doors required some flexibility - my daughter described it as stepping through an oval porthole window. Knee high step through while ducking to 46. From the control room, a person could climb a vertical ladder to access the conning tower through a hatch. Again, some dexterity is required to maneuver through the hatch while climbing up & down the ladder. Totally worth seeing the cramped space! No boring rooms on this excursion!

Great part of American history being displayed for the public to see. Hats off to the staff and facility for such a great job of trying to keep everything up. Wish everyone had a chance to tour this to realize what America has gone through to get to where we are now. Freedom is not free and we need to thank all for that. This facility takes that to a whole new level

Amazing boat! You can tell that alot of love goes into the upkeep. Well worth the visit regardless of the time of year. When I visited, there was a guy (former Sailor...ICman, I think) that was working on something topside. We chatted for a bit and I learned that he did a large amount of the work on the boat himself. That, for a submariner, is significant. Touring an old boat that was preserved by dolphin-wearing skill is something that others may not appreciate, but to this old RMC(SS)...it was exceptional. Thank you!

When I visited they were cleaning up from the ravages of one of the hurricanes and they had sustained some damage to the Drum. There was one retired sailor who had served on nuclear subs who was doing a lot of the work to fix the Drum back up. He was a full time volunteer and the only one with submariner rating or experience at the museum and it was amazing to talk with him about all he had to do to maintain and repair the sub single handed.

Nicely maintained example of early war subs. You can do a self guided tour as part of admission to the park. When I was here there were a few guys inside providing info and answering questions. It is tight inside and would be difficult to navigate for those with any sort of mobility issue. The inside has A/C!

I went here expecting to see the battleship, never realizing there was an aircraft museum and a submarine you could also tour. Great experience and happy we went. Just wish there was more air conditioning on the battleship. There was also a dragon boat race going on when we went. Enjoyed watching the race from the ship deck

This a great compliment to the exhibit, and a nice self-guided tour through the sub. It can be a tough squeeze through some hatches, but well worth it. They have done a great job restoring the sub. It also air conditioned inside, which is nice for the summer. Be sure to watch your head exiting if youre taller!
