Fantastic bar with a ton of games and other activities, such as outdoor shuffle board. Two stories of fun right on Brady Street. The only thing stopping me from giving five stars is the inexperienced bartenders (they need some help with their mixology). Over all great place that I would return to and recommend to my friends.

This place is so cool! Im glad we stopped in. The pizza was fantastic, huge slices. The beer selection is extensive and good. Service at the bar was speedy. The games were awesome, some times we had to wait a bit but never for very long. I convinced my 60+ year old mother and friend to go with on a Saturday night- even they had a blast! 10/10 do recommend

A very well done arcade. Very large draft beer selection and a cordial bartender. They have all the quintessential classics for upright cabinets such as Galaga, Pacman, and Dig Dug to name a few. Great selection of pinball games too, they have around 15 units with new and old titles alike. Some rare units here also, Ive never seen a Return of the Jedi arcade upright. They also have the giant 4 player X-men arcade game, I havent seen one in decades.

Beautiful facility. But a lot of the games have issues with the game controls; with some buttons and joysticks not responding at all. Its still fun to play the oversized boardgames and retro Nintendo 64 and GameCube games. Definitely recommend!

Love the Skeeball!!! Pinball machines are a blast to play. The adult size Connect Four us a great time and a great drinking game!!! The outside patio which is upstairs has a fantastic view of the sunset and the skyline.

Covid safe.The bartenders are the best thing about this place. Ferrin and MVP are crucial to its longevity.Though I dont play too many games when there, it has everything and more. Bonus points for not being affiliated with the tavern league.Get here!

I live a little over an hour away from this bar I’m from Illinois, but when I go to Milwaukee this is always the first place I stop at, you can never go wrong at this place they have a great variety of drinks and the games and music they play make you feel like you’re in an older age 70’s

So glad we could come and try the new Arcade bar we have been hearing about! Up down was everything we were expecting it to be. We really enjoyed the retro theme and the ample amount of games there are.The pizza was one of the tastiest I have ever had so it was amazing! The bar tenders are super nice and offered us samples when we were sure which beverage to try! They attended to us very well and frequently.I loved how the space was both indoors and outside. They had heaters outside which made it comfortable on a chilly evening! I also liked how they put up a sign about being conscious about the neighborhood. Being a place for fun it can easily get noisy and keeping the neighbors in mind was a great touch from the management!Up down combines beverage, food and fun games in one spot which makes it a perfect hangout location for all age groups. The space is big enough that it doesnt feel crowded and available all seasons!

Came here before all this COVID stuff went down and just getting to writing a review. I was visiting from out of town and this place was awesome! They had so many games on 2 different floors and it was awesome! We came here on quarter night and games were great to play for the cost and definitely time to drink some beers! Would definitely come here again!

Fun frakkin times! This place is awesome, great video games, a myriad of fine tap beers and ciders, giant Jenga, and more! Always playing retro movies, classic WWF, or something cool on the big screens and a very apropos throwback playlist flowing through it all, plus the staff are very attentive and genuinely friendly.

Place is amazing. All games 1 token, like it should be. Not all games were in the best shape but some of these machines have been around dealing with kids for 25 plus years. Pinball fans will be happy for sure. Full bar and innumerable beers on tap. Didnt eat but the pizza looked good. The TVs all playing classic cult and blockbuster movies from back in the day. Parking a bit nerve racking. Will go again.

Lots of fun. Not much for food options but the retro arcade games were a ton of a fun. The bar has lots of beer options including sours and local brews.

This place is way fun. They have a really great selection of local beers and more on tap as well as a fun collection of game cabinets, pinball, and ski ball. Music selection is fun, too. A little bummed they chose not to broadcast the Bucks game the day we were there, but no big deal.

Some cool retro vibes, but without tickets for winning you do lose some of the value. We came on Friday and was able to start with free tokens (for the first 100 I believe), which was great. Some of the nostalgia did wear off after some time. Good selection of beers though.

Very cool place to spend an evening wandering the classic games with a drink in hand. The decor and cleanliness are nice (something that often goes by the wayside in barcades) and it had a friendly, active atmosphere that tells me this place is going to be around for awhile. Theyre definitely in the right spot among all the new loft housing on Water/Brady right there.My only criticism would be to take down the music a few points as it makes conversation and the games a bit hard to hear.

Retro Gaming is on a big up swing and this location has it nailed. It is a fun all adult environment with just enough specials to bring you in the door and enough games to keep you busy. Arcades were the place to meet in the 80s before Internet Dating, Tinder and god knows what. So if you are a pinball junkie like me or just need to put in a quarter to flirt with Ms. PacMan, this place will cover that sweet spot. Plus....Milwaukee is just a fun place and this keeps the fun going. Check out the games list for complete game info. Oh....and they have beer. ;)

This is a fun bar with a nice selection of games. I like the layout more than the Minneapolis location. More elbow room. I wish there was more people playing Killer Queen. That game is jam. The staff in Minneapolis did a good job getting people to play it. Id like to see that here. Like the view and the outsiding gaming. Will keep coming back.

Thursday they have 10 cent tokens at the bar, pizza is massive and delicious. Prices are low and there’s awesome arcade games literally everywhere. Drinks are delicious and cheap. Staff is super friendly. 10/10 recommend

Pretty decent. Its good for some games. No air hockey was a big downside. Cheap drinks ($6 for a rum and coke) and make sure you get your tokens at the bar instead of the machines to get twice as many.

Awesome arcade, cant speak to the drinks as I didnt have any. The bartenders seemed helpful and attentive. Even though the place was crowded, there was plenty of space to get up and get a drink.Didnt eat either, but they do serve pizza by the slice.We mostly went for pinball, and Up-Down does not disappointed! All machines are set to one quarter (token) per play, and double tokens ok Saturday 12-9. This is probably our new pinball spot! Combine that with the awesome nostalgia, other arcade and board games, and even outdoor games, and you have a great spot!

Ive been here 4 times and its a fun place to hang out with friends - especially during the week nights when its less busy and you can play anything without waiting.Bar staff are usually nice, but they can look/act annoyed which is a turn off... and a surprise because its an arcade bar with good vibes otherwise.Most games work and it can be a good place to make new friends since people can jump in on multiplayer games with you.

This is a bar that has arcade games.Tonight (Thursday nights) I went with a bunch of coworkers and it was 10 cent token night so super cheap.Amazing place that has a bunch of 80s and 90s arcade games, skee ball, 90s console emulators, and huge connect 4 boards. Also a 4 player pack man machine where you can eat your opponents and the ghosts after eating a power pellet. That was a super cool experience and did it with some coworkers. Also several over multi player games. Including a 4v4 game and a couple 3 player racing game.Also tons of beers on tap. Various deals on tokens and drinks throughout the week.Quite a few pin ball machines as well. Brought back a bunch of memories from the 80s playing in video arcades as a kid.Over great experience.

This place is a blast. Tons of retro arcade games along with a few newer games (Killer Queen). Every game I played was only a quarter. There are so many games that finding an open machine was easy on a Friday night.

Big fan of this place, been here 3 times now when i visit from the UK. Great music and choice of pinball machines. The jenga, connect 4 and SNES/GameCube are free to play which is good. Tokens are only 10c on a Thursday. Its even better in summer as the outdoor area is open with more games and a large screen.Pizza is decent, sometimes the skeeball takes a token and doesnt work but they come along and fix it when you let them know. Good place for some fun and drinks.

Everyone here is in a good mood - how could they not be?Cleanliness: restrooms were very clean, happy to say the games were fingerprint free on the glass and the buttons were not sticky!Service: there are a number of staff on duty to assist. From bartenders, cocktail waitresses, games techs and security. Had a momentary issue with a game ( I guess they are over 30 yrs old), told the bartender and a service tech was over very quickly to address the issue. The staff is always cleaning as they go. Very impressed! The team was also very welcoming and friendly.Food: the pizza is on point!

This place is awesome! Great environment, great atmosphere, the people who work here are nice and real good at their jobs. Aaron made a killer buffalo chicken and Mac and cheese pizza for me and my lady friend. From Chicago I would definitely visit again.

As far as arcade bars go, my scope is pretty limited, but Up-Down is a great time every time we go. Great selection of games and beer. The pizza is pretty solid. Staff is always nice and helpful. I just wish the high scores werent wiped every night.

If youre seriously into pinball and arcade games and also want a good environment to hang out with friends and drink this is the spot. Most nights every single machine is working great, but if youre looking for long playtime on games avoid busier nights like the weekends, as you should let others play games and enjoy themselves as well. Beer selection is phenomenally well balanced you can get great classics and they always are rotating taps so you can try something new. If you love cider this is definitely a place to be they have a lot of unique selections of ciders. Make sure you check out specials and events going on! Thursdays are great to go for cheap tokens!

We were checking out some local establishments before catching a flight out of Milwaukee. As an out-of-state visitor, I expected a friendly experience. Up-Down itself, I thought, was great. The decor was neat. Stars from my youth, posted on the walls and arcade games, I played as a child were there. However, the staff was EXTREMELY inhospitable. They were RUDE!!! My visit was short. We found a friendly bar where we felt welcomed. Thank goodness because Up-Down gave me a bitter taste in my mouth for the city the people.

Its crazy crowded and busy on the weekends. My friend and I go and play their Bubble Bobble machine, which is placed in a corner so its great for us introverts trying to go out, lol. The beer selection here is AMAZING!! A shout out to our bartender Michael! Super friendly and makes incredible drinks!

We had fun. All the games are retro but that was the best part. It took us back to our childhood days. We spent at least two hours there and it was supposed to only be a quick stop. Will go again.

It was a lot of fun at Up-Down! We got there on a Friday when they opened, so we got 20 free tokens and $2 (huge) pizza slices plus beer/cider! The tokens lasted us awhile and it wasnt very busy, so we got our pick of games. Id love to go back! They had some outdoor games (shuffleboard, cornhole) in addition to the arcade games that would be fun on a nice day.

Awesome game bar with a lot of old cabinets/ping pong machines. A couple of free systems on big screens are around too if you dont want to pay to play. The drinks are great and the tokens are cheap! Definitely, absolutely, positively give this place a shot if you like to drink and play some casual games!

Cute place that is much larger than it looks! Plenty of video game options, as well as nice outdoor areas to sit and hang out. They do not serve food here except pizza, so plan to eat before you come. There is also no parking, so you will have to find a spot on a side street and hope for the best.

This place was a good time. Arcade games and drinks... all of the classics.... Im not really into arcade gaming but thats what Im told. Good bar section - younger crowd last night when we went.

This place is super fun! They have tons of pinball machines, skee ball, and even a Nintendo 64. They have an extensive beer list consisting of local brewers. Great birthday deal: 6 tall boys, a fanny pack, and 20 tokens for $35. This is on top of the 20 free tokens you get on your birthday in general. The bar is on the end of a great bar street, and is a bit out of the way. Prices on the rest are a bit higher than most bars. Would recommend if you’re celebrating a special occasion especially, maybe not for a regular weekend outing.

Always been a fan of the pizza, and I love the floor plan here. Plenty of space to move about, with a wide variety of games for everyone. Not to mention a great selection of beer!

What ever you do, dont put your quarters into the machines. If you put a dollar into the change machines you get more than 4 tokens so dont leave money in the table by not getting their tokens. Fun place and great way to have some easy fun before walking around to the other bars. Not an easy place to hang out and talk, but entertaining.
