Really popular brewery for both locals and tourists. When I visited, the parking was limited, and the place was pretty busy. The brewery took a lot of changes for the precautions of COVID, and all tables were spaced out very comfortably. There was a 10 min. wait, but we were seated in 5 min. This location is very clean, and each table had hand sanitizer! The beer is good, my guest and I really enjoyed the food. They have an amazing amount of vegetarian options (highly recommend the cauliflower wings), and my table really enjoyed the cheese curds.the décor completed at this brewery is fun, and they have a lot of events (pre-COVID). Lake Front brewery is very popular, and because of the current state of COVID seating is limited to an hour. Even with that said, the service my guest and I received was fast, pleasant and good company. The views of the Milwaukee river are stunning and out door seating is a must during good weather months. Learning about the beer itself was interesting when I took the tour. I will be a returning customer, and will continue to bring guests in the near future. Hope to see you soon.
We thought it’d be fun to reserve one of the “hop houses” along their riverwalk. Once the heater kicked in it was comfortable in there, but the textured walls prevented any outside views. As usual, the food and beer were very good, but the ordering process was a hassle. You had to use the table’s QR code for each order, which meant reentering your personal and credit card info each time you wanted food or another drink. Not worth it. Instead you should just choose to dine inside where there’s plenty of social distancing and other safe practices.
I used to love going to the Lakefront Brewery. I went on Friday with my friends for my birthday. When we got there we were informed that we would only be allowed to be there for an hour and that when we sat down the timer would start. I tried to explain to the host and to the server that it was my birthday but they didnt care. The service was terrible. We ordered fish fries and they didnt even bring us tartar sauce and ketchup. My friends and I ate as fast as we could and by the time we were done our hour was up. I didnt even get to have a birthday dessert. I would not recommend going there. All restaurants are dealing only being able to have 50% capacity in their establishment and this is the only one that has such strict time limits.
When a company says it theyre open until 9 oclock I expect them to be open until 9 oclock. I went to place an order online and I couldnt place an order at 8:32, Came all the way to your location got there at 8:40 and of course the doors were locked. Absolutely ridiculous!!!! That is not how you run a company!!! Ill be surprised if you make it through the pandemic. Good luck I wont be back.
Beer, fish, and cheese curds. When in Wisconsin, what more do you need? Lakefront Brewery provides all of these in great quality. You’ll definitely leave feeling full and happy. With significant COVID precautions, the brewery feels safe whether you’re inside or out. There are glass panels separating every seating place indoors. Outdoors, even the decor has a mask on. Overall, they’re doing their best to ensure both your safety and the staff’s.
A friend of mine works here and what Ive been told, is that this company is extremely irresponsible and greedy when it comes to the Covid-19 Pandemic. They are putting peoples lives at risk for profit potentially acting as a superspreader location. It doesnt matter how far the tables are spaced. If all tables are full, and everyones eating, no one has their masks on.They received assistance from the government, make most of their money from bottling beer, yet still continue to stay open for indoor eating, letting in hundreds of people each day, and they just recently installed bubble outdoor seating, which does absolutely nothing for lowering the risk of contracting this virus. This used to be a good hearted business. The people that run it now are the definition if greed.PEOPLE ARE DYING. Close your restaurant and let your employees collect unemployment insurance until this thing is over with. Wisconsin is skyrocketing in cases and deaths.
I attended the Wednesday night trivia that starts at 6:30 pm, and I had a great time. Excellent beer and delicious food. The spacing and COVID-19 countermeasures made me feel safe, and all the staff was knowledgeable and helpful...except when it came to giving me trivia answers. Would recommend.
Great Experience. My wife and I havent been out to eat since March as we both have Auto-immune disorders. So greatful to have a safe place to eat and enjoy a beer. Everything was great employees all masked, social distancing between patrons, and single use but environmentally friendly food packaging. Also happy to have my first draft beer in almost 5 years thanks to New Grist gluten free beer.
Actually very disappointed in the staff at Lakefront recently. I brought my family from out of town there during the day on a Saturday. The man who allowed us to tie up our boat even though space was tight was very kind and helpful which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. However once we got inside my uncle tried purchasing 2 Tshirts and gave the cashier a $50 bill. She proceeded to say they do not accept cash and that she doesn’t have a drawer. My uncle said no problem, you can keep the change. She still refused to accept the cash so he paid with a card. When we went outside to purchase some beer to go, we asked the man working very politely “could we bother you for a bucket of ice for our boat please? We’re running low and we can pay for it.” The gentleman working very rudely said “No! were too busy” and walked away. Then to top it all off when I was paying for my beer the same cashier who was “too busy” had the nerve to ask me for a tip for the staff AFTER I paid with my card. I said I only have a $5 bill and he took it and said thanks!Funny that they will take cash tips but not cash and a tip for some Tshirts... We were not disrespectful at all and I tried to be very understanding of the situation. However the blatant disrespect towards us and then accepting a cash tip shows they don’t truly care about protecting the staff and customers from covid. So disappointed as this used to be a favorite spot for me and my friends!
Came here for post-hike beer and cheese curds. No wonder they are so popular - the most delicious cheese curds I’ve had in a long time! Beer selection was limited, but good options. Can sit along the river and watch Kayakers (or entertaining bachelorette boat parties) go by while you enjoy your meal. There is a one hour limit to outdoor seating once food service begins, around noon.Social distancing is observed with outdoor seating. Great service and super friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Great cheese curds and fish fry basket. Good beer. Service wasn’t great, waitress was a space cadet and couldn’t even remember to pick up our beers from the bar and bring them over on more than one occasion. My macaroni and cheese was terrible, I literally had 2 bites but the server didn’t even bother to ask me about it despite me clearly not eating any of it nor asking for a box to take it home.
SO. MUCH. FUN. Each time family or friends visit Milwaukee, I take them on the tour at Lakefront Brewery to introduce them to the citys culture: beer & cheese curds. : ) Beer is delicious - food is great - tour is funny. Perfect for a first date, an outing with parents, or a group of friends - great spot! Also, love that they offer a gluten free beer option!
If you want to visit here, make sure you set your stopwatch for 1 hour. We were greeted and seated by 2 very rude individuals, one of which told us when I asked to move 2 tables over that this wasnt even his job. He then very rudely and abruptly told us, you have one hour, were not taking cash, and we wont split checks. As someone who has worked in the service industry, including a brewery, for the last 20 years, I was a bit taken aback by the rudeness, and the arbitrary time limit. I understand capacity may be a concern due to Covid19, however, we sat in an added table in the alley. Our server Chantal was a lovely, friendly person, although a bit overwhelmed when we first sat down, due to them just having opened for the day, so it took a little while for our initial greeting, and to place our food and drink order. She was very much on point the rest of our time there. After a little over an hour of being there, I was in the bathroom at the time, with less than a half of a beer to finish, and my husband was at the table with no beer left. My husband told Chantal that we were ready to close out, and that Id be back shortly with our card to pay. What was most off putting about the entire situation was after my husband had this conversation with our server, another young man came and informed my husband he had to leave because hed been there more than an hour. Once I returned from the bathroom, and had in fact already paid the bill, and had maybe an inch of beer left to drink, the same young man came and told us again wed need to leave because we have a reservation for this table. Upon looking around, there were at LEAST 5 empty tables near us. After being told 3 times, as paying customers, sitting in an alley at a makeshift table, I was a bit annoyed. I then went to express my frustration to the young man who approached us twice telling us to leave, especially after we had already paid. He was very short with me, unapologetic, and insisted someone had reserved our particular table, yet no one was waiting. He also expressed to me that it was not his policy, but the owners. In summary, both my husband and I felt very unwelcome, and undervalued as customers, and despite the fact we love the beer, and the cheese curds, we will not be returning to a brewery that values the customers they dont have, over the ones they do.
We stopped by this place during our Wisconsin trip. The outdoor seating by the lake is definitely the selling point. Its a great view. The staff was friendly and this was a popular place. You could decide to talk a walk along the river after a meal here. Recommend!
If I could give it more I would. Food was amazing. Beers were really good. Got a flight of some new stuff and was not disappointed. Quality beers with no nasty aftertaste.French fries: awesome awesome awesomeFish Fry: AwesomeLoaded Potato Soup: AwesomeGarlic Pretzels: AwesomeFish Tacos: AwesomeCheese Curds: AwesomeIf I lived closer I would be here once a week.
Im actually not a beer person and I asked my server for a recommendation. She suggested the New Grist Gose w/Lime and it was great!Really good curds and I loved the service and atmosphere.
OK so first let me say I am more of a wine (red) drinker but my husband and sons LOVE beer expecially Lakefront but we will no longer be supporting them because of their support for Tavern League of Wisconsin which is a terrible and shameful organization who only cares about money and not the health or safety of Wisconsin! Until they leave we will not buy any Lakefront in our family!
The variety packs provide a great tasting adventure. Wish there were more. And the brewery smells in a can are always nice, when you dont have a brewery near by. Great beers.
Lakefront Brewery had a truck stand at the beer garden in Racine last night. On the menu, on the bottom it stated To avoid extra contact, gratuity is included on all orders. With that being said, why did they also have a tip jar in the window where you pay? To me it was very wrong and they are stealing from the costumers. I will never go there again.
Did the Chalet date night and it was great. Good beer, good, and service
Mediocre food and service. Our visit was timed (1 hr) and our server was rude. I had the wings and the rest of the table had buffalo chicken mac n cheese. Would not recommend.
The fried cheese curds at Lakefront Brewery are the best thing Ive had in life.Nothing else about them needs to be reviewed. It was the best thing Ive had in life.
Hands down, the best cheese curds Ive ever had. The grilled cheese was also fantastic, as was the keilbasa sandwich. Oh and the beer - top notch! They are doing a wonderful job of cleaning, keeping distance between guests and training staff on how to serve safely, during these challenging times. A+++!
Delicious fish fry & fun drinks - safely outside! (Option to eat inside). Some indoor seating available, too.
I must of went on 10+ tours here at Lakefront while living in Milwaukee. The best brewery tour hands down... Your tour guides are former theatre majors who keep things fun, enthusiastic, educational, and incorporates a little adult humor.Perfect idea to come here before a Bucks/Brewers game or honestly for a trip in in itself. A must for any group event. The pub hall is also a lively place to enjoy your favorite Lakefront varieties/ share some tasty appetizers. I can’t forget about the riverfront patio that gives great views of the city. A must stop destination!
My favorite place when I visit Milwaukee. Best brewery tour in the country. Awesome beer. Great place to hang out and play games with friends for the better part of a day when the world isnt on fire.
Docked from the river on Sunday at 3:00 looking for a beer and food. They were out of most dishes on the patio menu. We were told that the inside menu was different but we would have to go inside and eat. We were not comfortable eating in. So we asked if we could just order off the inside menu and stay outside? The waitress said no. We said that we would just head down the river and look for something else. The waitress said good luck with that, nobody has food. Floated shortly down the river to Riverfront and had a great meal.
Very interesting, informative and fun tour. We went with our kids, ages 6 & 8. Some of the jokes were a little dirtier than I was expecting, but we gave them root beers and they had a great time. For food, we loved the fish & chips and chicken strips. The fries are AMAZING as is there homemade ranch. I really wanted to love the fried cheese curd. Ive never had it before and have no idea what its supposed to be like, but ours came out later than the rest of the meal and they were extremely chewy and cold. Maybe they are supposed to be like this? We did not care for them though. Lastly we had the WI mac n cheese. Not sure what kind of cheese(s) they use, but it was the worst mac n cheese Ive had.Would definitely go again. The outdoor riverside seating is lovely and the beers are delicious.
Didnt take the tour but it was busy on that front. Food and beer was amazing. Those cheese curds with the garlic ranch are amazing. Good service, interesting seat yourself style and you have order, take a number and they get it to you. Attentive staff and cool gift shop. Great place and neat look. Definitely would go again.
Really unique brewery right on the water with a great back patio and ample space for large groups. Parking is readily available and there are a lot of walking trails around the brewery. If you want a true in depth tour their 80 minute offering will definitely support this. If you just want to take a few pics and not super interested in production then not sure if you’d be super hype for this. They have a lot of food, but the cheese curds were a little too oily in our opinion. They did have countless award winning beers and a stage for live performances.Just a heads up if there is a Bucks game this place will be completely full.
Best fish fry in Milwaukee!! Great food, great ambiance, great beer selection.
I didnt take the tour this time around but I have heard great things about it! I ordered the pot roast sandwich with cheese curds and a beer and it was all amazing!! The pot roast was tender, and the sauce was flavorful. The cheese curds were some of the best Ive ever had. The beer was delicious also. Everybody working there seemed friendly. Someone stopped by my table and asked me how my food was and cleared my plates. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. I will return some other time and take the tour and try something else off of the menu.
Great social distancing. Friday fish fry was fast and delicious!
It was good. Their Lakefront IPA is awesome!! Food is excellent. Scenery is beautiful on the riverfront. Good place.
Amazing Friday fish fry, ambiance, food, and staff. The tours are fun and definitely worth going on more than once. We have really been missing Lakefront during Covid.
If i paid attention during the tour whilst having a few beers, Lakefront Brewery was started by two brothers in what was an old Power Station. If thats not right then the beer was way better than expected.Yes they make beer on site. Yes you can do a tour there. Yes, they serve decent pub food as well.Well worth checking out as the beers are very good as well.
Came back from airport was looking something to drink. Found this place that i was so happy i was dancing! GREAT BEER!Service Friendly people Great people
As a local Milwaukeean I LOVE me some Lakefront, and with that outdoor patio during the pandemic, you cant beat it!!We would love to patron this great brewery, but they never seem to be seating people outside. The staff has been fairly rude and not accommodating when online it says theyre open until 9 but they stop seating the patio at 6:30??Lakefront- pleeease Id love to give you my money, but youre making it really hard! Update your hours online or re-educate your staff on customer service, youre falling behind as my favorite brewery :(
Great tour. Fun place to hang out. Love the special release beers.
Brilliant brewery, from the food to the lovely atmosphere to the beer! I love the lakefront views. It’s an absolute gem to visit with family and friends in the summer time. Come and enjoy :)
Very cool tour, great inside and outside space along the water. Fantastic food and beer. Definitely a must visit.
Amazing brewery. From the staff to the drinks and food. Not a single thing wrong with this place. My only regret is that I wish I had more time there to take a tour of the premises. Great views and I was hoping it was warmer out when I went so that I could check out the area outside by the water. Some of the best beer and food Ive had while in Milwaukee.
Doing an excellent job of serving beer and maintaining social distancing the best they can.
What used to be one of my favorite locations, destinations, fun places to be at has turned into a covid-19 hazard zone. The fun has been suck out. Beer and food is still great just a hollow place to be.
This is THE best microbrewery weve ever been to! Were from Indiana and theres a lot of good microbreweries, but seriously, this place takes the cake! Its a must stop for anyone visiting Milwaukee! Ive tried 6 beers and have yet to find one that was just ok or that I didnt like. I will DEFINITELY be finding out which of my local stores carry their brews!
Cheese curds lived up to the hype. Fish fry was bland but a lot of food. Great beer selection and the hall itself is pretty cool.
The brewery tour was awesome with lots of samples. The tour guide was extremely lively and entertaining. We stayed for the Friday fish fry. The atmosphere was fantastic and the beer was even better. The fish fry was average at best. I had the combo platter and the perch was too greasy. The cod was good though and the fried cheese curds were great.
This is the place to visit for food and amazing tasting beer and or Root beer. The best cheese curds in Wisconsin.
Best tour on Milwaukee! Liz was amazing, she is super funny and the tribute to Laverne and Shirley is perfect for Milwaukee! Thanks Lakefront for being a fantastic brewery for over 30 years!!
I had a fantastic time at this brewery. Definitely coming back. And the cheese curds were the bomb!!!
Great food, great atmosphere, great beer, great stickers, fantastic cheese curds. Just an awesome place to go.
Really good food friendly staff
Great beers. I believe they are one of the best s in town and Wisconsin, further as well
Was extremely enjoyable for the tour. I had Max as my tour guide and he was extremely fun and informed. Overall everyone was super helpful and you get a lot for the price. Haven’t had the food so I can’t comment on that but people seemed to be enjoying it. Great music in the main hall. Awesome way to spend an afternoon! Definitely recommend.
Great experience! The brewery is organized for Covid precautions with designated walkways and dividers between parties at tables. Fast & friendly service. Great beer.
Staff isnt too courteous. We do enjoy the fish fry and the and the riverfront view. Good portions and tasty.
What a great spot. The brew tour was amazing with Gilmore. Overall a great spot with great beers. The tours were the best part. The guy did a great job.
Great beer and food. Nice outdoor space along the river.
Beer is OK. Food is OK. River views are good. Very Attentive Staff.
Great spot with great drinks/view...and strict social distancing
The tour was really fun, filled with jokes and free beer. Every staff member was super nice and patient, and their root beer is the best Ive ever had. Their fish fries and fried cheese curds were great, and the overall atmosphere was great. Cheers!
Horrible service. Waited over an hour and 15 minutes for our food. Definitely won’t come back. Not sure what was going on tonight. Felt like a joke.
A couple of years ago, we went for the brewery tour. Had a fantastic time. This time around we went for a Friday fish fry. WOW! I cant put it into words. First, great beer. Had their coffee stout, so good. There was a wait for a table, but they have really good beer here. It wasnt just fish on the menu. Its a bar menu. You sit family style, get to meet other people. There is live music, dancing, and a patio on the Milwaukee river.A great experience. We were tourists in our own town.
Food was great. Beer was great. Being pushed out after an hour with beer and food on the table, at 5:45 on a Tuesday with no one waiting for our table NOT GREAT. Waitress clearly just wanted another table. $100 check for one hour???? We are so ok with masks and social distancing but not ok with drive through sit down service! Took our good to go and check he’d our beer to “move along”
There are alpt of brewery tours that you can do in Wisconsin. I have done 98% of them. This tour though was the best one yet. Not only was it fun it was very informative. Plus you get to drink the beers during the tour instead of waiting until the end. Bonus is that the staff is supwr friendly and they serve some good food.
Good beer. Even better fish fry. Great place to take out of towners!
Great experience! Love the ambience, freshly brewed beer & safety precautions they are taking
Fun tour, great beer, phenomenal cheese curds
Had a fantastic time here. Our Tour guide Weston was great, good mix of information and humor. Was surprised by how many samples were included with the tour, 4 half pints, with opportunities throughout the tour to earn more!At the end you get a token for a free souvenir. They say it’s for a free pint glass online, but when you get there you find out that you can exchange it for a bottle opener, or use as credit towards a t-shirt or other more expensive items in the gift shop as well!
Was visiting friends up in Milwaukee and they suggested Lakefront for dinner, let me tell ya Im glad they did it was amazing! They have a brewery tour and a gift shop. But the dining part is where its at, they had a live polka band and dancing. The food was amazing. I had bratwurst and mashed potatoes it was stick to your ribs good. The cheese curds were crazy fresh. The mac & cheese looked delicious. Price was pretty low too, for 5 people it was only $80. I honestly expected like $120 so I was pleasantly surprised.
Fantastic drinks, food and experience! Atmosphere is fantastic, and I love that you can sit along the river and enjoy some good drinks and conversation! Also staff is super helpful and friendly if your beer knowledge isnt super great.
Love this tour! Love the space! Frequented as my 2nd stop for my 40th celebrations & what a great choice. Fish Fry + polka can’t be beat! My favorite part of tour is the Laverne & Shirley spoof! Makes you laugh every time! Tour guides that make it a lot of fun! Even helped my friend out with a wheel chair when she slipped on someone’s spilled drink. Had a manager come out to check on her. They were really cool about bringing in a cake too!
Delicious food. Loved the pretzel with beer cheese sauce and the fried cheese curds. Each beer in the flight was better than the next.
Best fish fry in milwaukee, hands down. great atmosphere with polka music. also the best brewery tours - I always bring out of town guests here
Hands down the best fried cheese curds I’ve ever had. The breading was soft and crispy. The curds were clearly freshly made and delicious. Bottom line, I will be looking for any excuse to drive through Milwaukee to pick up another basket!! It cost $9 for the basket, and the basket is large enough to comfortably feed two people. 110% recommend.
We went for the tour instead of eating here, and we werent disappointed. The guide (Tony, IIRC) interacts with the tour with the skill of a solid stand-up comedian (Id be surprised if he never tried that as an act before he started working here), and the beer samples were high quality as well. Next time? Trying the food as well. Highly recommended.
Omg I had so much fun coming from Colorado, I enjoyed Milwaukee so much and the whole tour vibe was amazing even though were in a pandemic that didn’t affect the fun. Go lakefront brewery woohoo
Good food, but if theyre going to close at 8pm every day as a schedule, they could at least have the decency to update their listing on here.
Great spot for a date. The beer selection was excellent, the staff was friendly, and the food was memorable.
Man... did we have a good time. It was a little out of the way, but well worth the trip to visit the brewery. The food was typical bar grub and I had a chicken sandwich after seeing a few of them go by to others. We took the brewery tour which included quite a few beers. I really like their IPA and new Mexican Style beer... forgot the name. The tour person was funny and kept us entertained for the duration. When in Milwaukee, dont miss this brewery!
Fun! Great deal for $12 for 4 tokens for beer and a fun tour! Yummy food with vegan options too! Would definitely do again!
This is a Milwaukee classic. Not a huge fan of their beer but its not bad. Food is solid. On national cheese curd day they go all out with the options. Huge space with bench seating so youll likely have someone on the same table but its not an issue. Can still get pretty packed. Right next to the river. If youre on a boat you can dock, get a beer, and head back out pretty quickly.
Brett was the tour guide. Hilarious tour (in a good way). If you enjoy beer and a lot of laughs, this is s must!
Cool location, chill atmosphere, good beer
Firstly, their cheese curds are literally the best Ive ever had, ever.Secondly, their staff is very helpful. Had trouble picking out a beer as it was our first time, let us sample to figure out our favorites (all of them were super tasty so this was a tough one). Finally, lots of shade in the reviews about COVID prevention. Um, well, when I went there, they required masks, they made you wear them whenever you werent at your table. All the tables were distanced, and they had guidance on the floors so that people were walking in one direction, I.e. not walking past each other. All the menus were disposable, even had hand sanitizer on the tables. The host even went through instructions before being seated. Seems like one of the best restaurants Ive been to in that regard.
Great building, bad beer. Douchebag staff. Restaurant manager was rude when asked about concerns. Way better breweries in the area.Edit: Just found out this company has been serving at full capacity, indoors, putting customers and staff at risk. A company of this value does NOT need to stay open in order to survive. Not to mention most of their profit is from beer sales. They are fine with being a super-spreader.
For a great brewery tour, call Brittany! What a fantastic, knowledgeable, funny and all around fun tour guide! Hands down this is the best beer tour in Milwaukee. Not only are the beers tasty but the staff is out of this world fantastic! We’ll be back again, again and again.
Really entertaining experience. As we went during the week it wasnt actually a tour so much as a look out at all the machines from the viewing platform above, since everything was in use. So the perk of going during the week was a small group as I believe they can take up to 50 guests at once, but if you want to get up close and personal go on the weekend. The wooden tokens they give you for samples are trendy, the gift shop has a brilliant selection and most importantly the beer is delicious with heaps of flavours to choose from! Go lakefront!
