Excellent Trail, extremely well maintained. The trail winds around a number of small ponds and creeks that have abundant wildlife to observe. There were a number of birds of prey and bird life around the ponds and high in the old oaks. It Runs North and South so there will be shade in the morning and afternoons which is great. Lots of family cyclist, bring a bell along if youre riding a bike. Highly recommend this trail for walking and fitness runs up to ~10K if you go the distance and then turn around and return back to your start point.
Easy 6 Mile hike there and back. Boardwalk and pavement all the way. Places to stop and rest and trash cans.
Nice boardwalk and trail for walkers, bicycles, etc. A must for first time walkers. Make sure you go all the way to the end. Victorian house at end in Turtlemound is a must see.
I love riding the trails beside the zoo. It is very relaxing and quiet.
Great Trail, Well Maintained and pleasant to walk. This is a hidden gem of a trail. It stretches from just south of the Zoo to just south of the Pineda Causeway. It follows the East Side of the Interstate but is set back enough that there is a good separation. It is a walking, running and biking path so please stay to one side and be aware and courteous of other people using the path. There are several places to see wildlife. The north end passes by a lake and a river and the sourth goes overs some marshland. There is parking at the north end by the zoo and many park near the entrance by Pineda Causeway. There are benches along the way and plenty of shade as you move along the trail. Enjoy.
This is a great place for a nature walk, without all the nature. By that I mean, there is a trail and bridges so you dont have to get muddy or buggy and can still enjoy being very close to the plants and animals in the area. Dont know if I can post a video, but if I can and if you have a minute, check out this video of a tortoise (or whatever) digging in super slow motion. The camera wasnt in slow motion, the tortoise was. It takes about 10 seconds for the first shovel and 10 more for the second. I dont know how long it was there shoveling, but it was gone by the time I walked back. But this was happening within a few steps of the path. But, this was before safer at home and the path was not as busy as it is now (April-May 2020)For access, the Linear Park has good markings for distance, lots of benches and shady areas for resting. If you start at the zoo, there is plenty of free parking. If you start at Pineda Causeway, there is free parking, but kind of dodgy shoulder location. If you start at Turtle Mound, not much parking, but you could.
Love the trail for taking a bike ride. Lots of shade along the way and spots to stop and rest. 6 miles round trip!
The only thing missing, and maybe I overlooked them are water fountains and a bathroom. Just enough parking for a hot mid August Sunday morning w no rain the forecast. Plenty of people but not crowded. Everyone was nice. Mostly shady and flat ride w a few small long slopey ramps. Lots of parrel-to-highway parts, but it also has some nice native greenary and some marsh land.
Very nice park for walking or biking. Main entrance located at the Brevard Zoo.
It is not as shady as the pictures show. It is a 6 mile hike not a three. It was so hot no shade and ran out of water. No maps and no one to check to see if everyone was ok. Will not do it again unless it is cooler because there is no shade. And make sure you take your cell phone and plenty of water.
Beautiful boardwalk thorugh changing sections of Florida landscape. Very picturesque for a hike, jog or biking.
I love this park and the trails. They really did a nice job. I would give it five stars but I encountered a vagrant while Geocaching not far from the trail. There is trash all around this persons tent. If you want to locate thisLook for coordinates:N 28° 11.738 W 080° 42.402
Beautiful boardwalk. BUT...we walked 1.5 miles and never saw any of the posted animals along the way (ex: gators, pigs, birds, lizards). You CAN bike ride, it’s a very smooth boardwalk for over a mile then turns into a smooth paved path.
This is a little hidden gem. Right in our own back yard. We have safe surroundings, beautiful nature, coupled with free parking at the zoo. What more could you ask for? Enjoy ....we do as often as we can.
Beautiful, peaceful, enjoyable walk through the bush of Florida on a paved path and long wooden walkways. The trail is marked every 1/2 mile about 3 miles in the end.
Great boardwalk with occasional stopping points for snack/breaks. Also good for biking, and wildlife viewing....good family fun.
This trail is the best! About 6 miles round trip so a good work out. A bit of shade along the way and youre either walking on asphalt or engineered wood. Runs along the boundary of the Brevard Zoo. A popular trail with a few people so should be safe for women hiking by themselves. Zoo employees keep it clean.
Loved it. Will be coming back. Great place to bike, skate, walk, run and jog. Wild scenery along the path was pretty.
Safe, mostly flat, wheelchair accessible boardwalk walking path. Watch out for the cyclists, they can come up on you fast (and I ride it with great caution of others)! Lots of birds and nature to look out for!
Beautiful trail! Close to nature, surprisingly wide, and very nice! The trail is almost 3 miles long and is made up of a combination of paved road, cement, and elevated composite boards. It is smooth enough to skate/roller blade on and comfortable enough to walk or ride a bike on. One end is Turtle Mound Road and the other end is the Brevard Zoo. It is best to park at the zoo (free and plenty of safe parking). People need to clean up their dog doo though...
One of my favorite places for a comfortable 2 miles walk (1 mile from zoo to end of original boardwalk back to start). There are walkers, runners, skaters on the boardwalk as well and it is wide enough to accommodate everyone comfortably. You dont see the zoo or zoo animals from the walk, other than the turtle rehabilitation center (cant see much). Seldom see any wild animals as they stay away from boardwalk during day, but they are around. Occasionally you can see otters in the west stream.
Comfortable boardwalk that exits in a neighborhood of gorgeous homes. Dont forget to carry plenty of water. There are no restrooms along the way. There are mile markers every half a mile or so.
Nice trail. Bright views
This is a unique “park” which starts just past the entrance to the Brevard Zoo. There are a limited number of parking spaces at the start. The park (which is actually a trail) used to be just a 1 mile boardwalk but it has recently been extended and goes all the way to Turtle Mound Road (about 3 miles out and 3 miles back.) The trail has boardwalk alternating with asphalt walkways bordered on each side with fencing. Along the way there are mile markers every half mile both going and coming. There are many benches and garbage receptacles as well as informative plaques. The trail winds its way next to Interstate 95 and sometimes the sounds of traffic are a bit loud but at others you only hear the sounds of nature. It’s a great trail to walk/ride/run. It’s been four years in the making but it was well worth the wait.
Like others have said it is a little strange with the sound of a 95 right beside you at points. But to look at the bright side the trail has a lot to offer. It’s a quick way to take a nice nature break. Whether you walk, bicycle, or rollerblade the trail is pleasant. if you’ve got children the trail is a nice smooth way for them to burn off energy...... or if you have company from out of town the linear trail would be nice to visit before or after lunch nearby. i rode my bicycle starting at the zoo to the end at turtlemound and this was a 6 mile round trip.
This a wonderful experience for families and an opportunity to see some local wildlife. Its wheel friendly, newly expanded & accessible from Pineda causeway! Be prepared, it is a bit warm in mid afternoon.
Love this Place
Great walk. I think there should be a map at the start. We thought it was a loop.
Centered in the middle of Viera yet feels a million miles away. Enjoy the wet lands and the canopy. Bring your walking shoes and plenty of water.
A1A Outdoor Center bicycle tour at the Brevard Zoo trail was awesome! Highly recommend joining a tour, bikes included!
Beautiful place to walk with so many beautiful sights and sounds of nature.
An enjoyable walk but it is hard to ignore the fact that 95 is right next to you when your trying to enjoy the bit of nature out there.
Omg!! This the best place to go walking. It is so peaceful and serene! The BEST!!!!
So nice. About 3 miles start to finish. Great for walking, bike riding, and nature watching.
Comfortable 2 mile (round trip) walk. The one fault is the location close to I95. The peace is interrupted by road noise. I didnt see much wildlife. Too bad. Still, I appreciate this local nature source. 5 stars
One of the best trails!!! It is welcoming to walking, running or biking. Love this trail and love the extension!! Great job
A great walking or jogging trail. At least 9 feet wide, a small portion is concrete the rest treck decking. Good for strollers and an occasional bike.
Very Nice place for walk/ run. Very wide and well secured. Not sure if the full trail is complete already, it wasnt when I was there.Look forward to the completion
Nice little park for walking and running. Trail is almost entirely made of boardwalk over a wetlands, currently 1 mile long but plan for a 2 mile roundtrip since you enter and exit from the same place. Only accessible during zoo operating hours.
Good for walking, biking is sort of short, when expansion opens it will be a better length. Nice and clean otherwise.
Nice hiking trail just too short. Cant wait for the Turtle Mound extension to open
Love the new addition. This trail now goes from the zoo to Turtle Mound Rd.
Humid ...
Nice place to walk if you dont mind the sound of 95 I would definitely come back here often its about 2 mile walk
Short but well maintained. And if you geocache there are some fun ones in this area.
Lots of fun information given on a nice walk along natural Florida Habitat!
So cool. Its like a boardwalk through the woods.
We were hoping to see more wildlife, but we did at least catch a cardinal and some other birds!
Small zoo, more like a nature walk with unique animals.
Best zoo, we drive 2 hours and go all the time.
Awesome trail to walk or ride.
Great zoo. Well run by staff and the multitude of volunteers
A very long narrow slice of nature that is relaxing and senic to pass through. That is one nice boardwalk! The only downside is I95 traffic noise, but that cannot be helped.
Wonderful bike and walking trail!! It is finished to turtle mound!!! Early!
Great zoo. Hidden gem.must see.
Nice place to take the family for a leisurely day.
Awesome boardwalk. Very quiet and relaxing.
Great trail!!
This is a great walk with kids. The boardwalk allows for lots of independent walking, running, or riding, without wondering which way they headed in worrying about traffic.
Love love love the Zoo. Lots of Fun .
Peaceful
Great zoo! Love that you get to interact with the giraffes!
Great small zoo. The membership is totally worth it
Great place to walk in nature
Very peaceful well maintained.
An incomplete, in-and-out boardwalk of just over 1 mile distance (x2). Limited amount of shade. Free parking at and just past zoo.
Great walking trail.
Lovely park for exercise walks or bike.
Had a great time volunteering
Great place for a run or walk!
The zoo is a lot of fun
Great trail
Grandkids love it
So much to see and do!!
Beautiful

Neat, clean and new
