Four well maintained short trails that add up to little over a mile. One hill that was barely noticed. Scenic creek at some places. Surrounded by the Air Force base so you cant feel lost in the wilderness. Parking lot has major holes that need repair, cost it one star.
Go to walk the unpaved trails, and to be immersed in trees! Free parking! A nice nature getaway that is near the city! You will catch a lot of people sitting in their cars in the parking area, likely destressing while on their lunch break. Beautiful. If you use a wheelchair or a walker, I believe that you can still enjoy the trails, but you must take another person to assist you!
We stopped here BECAUSE it was a park and we are always looking for a place to take a walk since Cobb has so little green space. There is nothing expansive about this county park except if you want to expand your venereal experiences with other men. This is not a place you want to walk. This place is not for families, male and female couples, or even dogs. This place is a blight on the city of Marietta.
ATTENTION!!!! Please be careful there was a strange white male around his 50s in a white van that looked really out of place. When I pulled in I immediately thought it looked a little bit odd because he was backed in directly in front of me and not where people usually park. There were about three cars parked on the left side so I parked at the end so I was facing him. He then pulled off and circled around looked at me with a creepy smile and just stared and drove back around and back then again this time to my right at the other end where the first car was parked. He sat there for a while which of course I recorded most of this. And Im just waiting looking to see if hes going to get out of his truck. I then see a man come out from the trail and the one in the white van said something to him. The man in the white van then proceeded to pull off backing into the space directly next me. It literally made no sense for him to be parked next to me and plus with social distancing why would you park that close when theres plenty of space??? He keeps looking at me and at that point Im like okay let me get the hell out of here. I start my car and pull off and he immediately gets on his phone. As Im pulling towards the entrance I noticed the guy in the other car had his doors open and I couldnt see anything but his legs in his back seat.PLEASE have someone with you and have a weapon especially if you cant. This was definitely something that has never happened to me but I just happen to have really good intuition. STAY SAFE!!!!!
POISON IVY!!!!Not kid or dog friendly. There was poison ivy along the entire path and in some places growing in to the path. The trail was pleasant and shaded but there wasn’t a clear entrance to the parking lot and the gps coordinates just stop in the middle of the street.
This park is not well kept. Poison ivy lines most paths, and if you take a wrong turn, you come to trash littering a path, including used condoms. I will not come back.
These woods have some nice moments. Its a good place if you need to get some fresh air and think or do some running. That being said, the highway noise, which is very present, does detract from the experience. Theres a perimeter chain link fence that separates you from who knows what. Doesnt seem worth having and is unsightly. I cant say it was teeming with it, but the garbage was very noticeable and makes you loathe the fundamental lack of regard people have for their own environment sometimes. Many a weathered beer can decorating the place. Im no tree-hugger but the shear lack of laziness keeping someone from hanging onto a water bottle until s/he comes across a trash can makes you question the future of the human race. Dont be a d-bag. Just throw it away. It really isnt hard. Came across some condom wrappers a little off the trail. Charming. I guess if youre into cruising, you may have some success here.
Lovely small nature trail with unpaved trails.
Very beautiful, quiet, clean and a great spot to relax and take in nature.
Awesome place to enjoy a nature walk/workout. The trail is well maintained and has plenty of elevation changes to keep your heart rate up.
The storm was really bad it blew trees everywhere
First, this is a beginners trail that tries to make you feel like you arent wedged into a small (probably around 1 acre) park between 2 busy highways. Lots of noise pollution and the streams are just runoff from the roads and arent maintained with more trash in them than a normal dumpster contains. DISGUSTING! The trails are also very easy and if you walk the entire thing and all loops, youre still at about 2 miles, including the walk back to your car. Not a great trail, but good for a quick run or a 30 minute hike with your kids. The area is heavily wooded and trails dont appear to have anyone maintaining then either (trees across paths, etc). The above is the only reason why I give this place two stars. The below has zero effect on my ranking.I just read several of the other reviews and 2 years ago when I moved to Georgia this homophobic talk would have genuinely surprised me, but knowing Georgians and the unfortunate deep South religious hatred, it no longer shocks me. As to whether this place is some sort of adult hookup place is beyond me, but last I checked...most parks are at some point, so really these people are just saying they dont want their kids wondering into any gay relationships vs hetero-normal relationships. Not saying you should bring your kids here, or that this is a great trail, but Id say youre just as likely to see people up to no good as a previous reviewer posted, as you are at any other nature trail. Personally I saw nothing to justify any of the other comments and find them truly appalling and against Googles EULA everyone signed to post reviews on Google Maps.
Enjoyed our walk. Really wooded. So many different trails
Peaceful and heavily wooded. Decent biking and walking trails for beginners. A pavilion and picnic tables.
We found it accidentally but totally enjoyed our hike there with the family.
Peaceful trails but they are not maintained at all.
Parking lot is super sketchy. Went with my girlfriend and saw a handful of older men in cars watching us and moving parking spaces. Google reviews don’t make me feel any better about it.Watch out for a gold truck with an old man in it.
Great! For a run or to appreciate nature! Love it every time :)
Who is in charge of this place? Im not sure what this park is supposed to be. I read on the city of Mariettas website that this was fixed up to be a family (beginner) bike trail park. I recommend families stay far away. As others have noted, the parking lot is always full of sketchy middle aged men. I rode all 1.8 miles of trail on my bike and it was very serene... I even saw a deer. BUT when I got closer to the parking lot, I saw multiple groups of men scatter like roaches when they saw me. A couple of them must have misplaced their pants and I think the other guys were trying to help find them. DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY HERE. The city of Marietta should be ashamed to call this a family park. Im sure A.L. Buruss would roll over in his grave if he knew what was going on at park named after him. If I were his family I would ask the city to take my family name off the sign.
Excellent walking trails
Pulled in to eat lunch midday on a Saturday. As we sat we noticed middle to older aged gentlemen pulling into the park at intervals. They would sit in the car for a few minutes, then enter the wooded area of the park and stay for 5 but no longer than 10 minutes, then leave. This happened the entire time we were there, like clockwork. There was one gentleman, though, who just milled around his vehicle the entire time as the others came and went. Sketchy activity to say the least.. either sex or drugs; my bet is sex. Beware and enter at your own risk.
Great nature trail. Have been many times without incident.
Definitely some skeevy looking dude in the lot. Short trails for biking but decent enough. I’ll be back because it’s close to my house but not more that a quick ride.
Very sketchy. Did not feel safe alone and there was a male flasher there. I do not recommend anyone use this park.
I dont hate gay folks, but when they have oral sex constantly in A. L. Burrus Nature Park, it is kind of frustrating.
Awful place! I took my son for his hiking session with his P.E. class and i was so intimidated by 3 vehicles. I waiting in the car for him and this guys constantly peeking in my window! It says on the sign that the park was being monitored by marietta police but these guys vehivcles arent marked so i dont know if they were the ones monitoring the park but they sure made me feel uneasy.
It was very healthy looking place and I love nature.
DO NOT bring your family to this place. I would give it zero stars if I could.
Nice park.
Nice park to get away from the stresses of life..
Nice park.
Nice park.
I was there yesterday and say three guys messing around in the park and they noticed me and it did not phase them. Also some real sketchy activity in the parking lot. I notified police and they sent a car. DO NOT go to this place.
Nature trails
If it has rained in recent days, not so good for hiking.
You get what you look for
Yeah they still seem to be there.
