It was a nice quaint place to visit. My 3 year old loved it but my 9 year old niece said it was boring. Due to covid they had the doors locked so we had to walk around the whole building. A friendly neighbor helped us out and he knocked on a window until he got somebodys attention at which point they finally opened the main door to let us in. They didnt have too many live animals and the place is actually in the middle of a neighborhood. My 3 year old keeps asking about going to see the animals but I dont think the drive is worth it. We live about an hour away and the exhibits just arent worth it. I probably wont be visiting again any time soon.
A very educational place to go and its free. I thought the animals were adorable and the nature guide really knew alot about everything. Its a tiny room but Its great if Its a rainy day or you just want to teach your kids about nature and they are intrigued but have short attention spans. My youngest didnt want to leave!
Brought all the kids here for a visit during our family reunion and it was a big hit! There are not a lot of animals but still plenty to see and do. A really good opportunity for teaching moments between parents and children.
They didnt have the squirrel that they advertise. The possum was cool but other than that and the hedgehog, you can see all these live animals at the local pet store. The volunteers that were in there feeding the animals werent very friendly, and one young boy that was with them pushed my 2 year old out of the way to get to a turtle my son was trying to look at (which made me mad of course). This is all in one small room which would be too closed-in for more than 6 or 7 people.
Awesome addition by the Parks and Recreation Department!
This was a very disappointing animal/reptile exhibit, if thats what it could be called.I took my 16 and 17 year old there on a field trip while we were in Virginia and it was not worth the gas or time it took to get there.I would not recommend the Nature Zone to anyone but to those with children under 5.It literally is one room with a couple snakes, a turtle, and maybe 3 other reptiles. It had a few taxidermied animals and a few other minor things. I was extremely unimpressed.
Now free admission and open Fridays and Saturdays from 12-4. Great place to bring the kids and check out some live animals and nature discovery drawers are neat!
A great place to take your children that is budget friendly. It was a total of $3 for myself and my son
Lots of fun at a birthday party
Love the apes
