Gorgeous area and the new bridge and bike/walk/run path is so nice. Been enjoying all the trails for many years!
Really nice spot in the heart of lil Lynchburg! Ive gone on walks here with friends and just went biking for the first time as well. Both times were great!
Beautiful and easy. Great walking and biking for everyone.
Great trail for the whole family. The easiest access point for us to get onto the trail is the one at the base of Amazement Square. The trail has many points of entry and is easy for all experience levels. Bikes and pets welcome.
Nice quiet place. Not much wildlife seen today but a very nice walk.
Love this trail. Appreciate the signs about Covid-19.
Great trail! Lots of shade, mixed with just enough sunshine. Enjoy the beauty of the creek, and the relaxing sounds of the easy flowing rapids. The tunnel is a very cool little surprise...
So fortunate to have this so close! Really enjoy it!
I grew up walking and biking on these trails, and still love them today. The main bike path is wide, paved, and easy for most of the length, with only one major hill between the start and the waterfall. There are convenient benches to rest on every once in a while. You can easily meander for hours on the well maintained side trails without seeing many other people, but still get to experience the depth of nature including riverside views and tons of wildlife from birds to squirrels and deer, and signs of the occasional beaver (though Ive never spotted one myself). I highly recommend this park for people of all ages, and their dogs, too.
Easy trails and a waterfall. Great fishing spots
This is a really nice park with a bike trail, a stream and some nice hiking trails. I used to go here all the time when I was at Liberty University.
Well maintained trails. Peaceful
Great time! I went in the way maps took me, but if you follow the foot trails you can get to a great flat path with loads of more space
Lots of memories made here with walking my dogs during a rainstorm that me and my wife can laugh at now. My sister hiked with us here while she visited my wife, brother and me, and weve taken breathtaking scenic pictures well remember for awhile! I love this place!
Amazing trail great for dogs and kids!
My family and I loved the tunnel where you can still see the evidence of the coal powered steam engines that used to go through it. I do think some of the trail needs to be improved/cleaned up. Lots of potential to be a great trail.
Great place to get fresh air.
Beautiful spot...you can start in many different places and go as long or short as you want. Also the trail will take you to the James River amazing trail system. Well marked. Also there are people using the trail and houses are visible through the woods so your not out in the middle of nowhere...but in the city.
Gorgeous area to ride on bike, walk, or run surrounded by an amazing landscape.
Excellent bike trail
Beautiful place. Nice facilities at the Ed Page entrance. No water other than Ed Page that I am aware of. Nice trails, with a awesome walk through cave. Cave is located 2 miles from Ed Page. Enjoy!
Paved path, wooded, beautiful place for a walk or bike ride.
Beautiful scenery and free of trash.
Nice walk, peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. The creek runs right alongside the trail.
Great trails and beautiful views
The perfect trail for anyone hiking, biking or riding horses! Wonderful views and a great escape from the city without leaving Lynchburg!
Extremely nice trail to unleash your dog but 1 of the bridges are out so its a long long ways around. FYI many of the pics you see for this park arnt for this park, thats the park the connects to this trail 2-4 miles away depending on the rout you go.
Great trails.
Graet
We just moved here two weeks ago and wanted to go for an easy hike/walk with the kids and do some exploring. Beautiful area. We found and spotted probably over a dozen different kinds of neat bugs and insects, saw a deer, enjoyed looking at all the plants. We were a little disappointed that many things are falling into disrepair: signs, trail markers, a big pile of old gravel or asphalt right on the trail, a foot bridge. Its nice and quiet and were looking forward to exploring more of the area! My wife says shell look forward to doing some trail running to stay in shape.
I love coming here to walk and relax. Nice trails!
Great trail!
Paved and mostly flat. Goes from Langhorne road (near cranehill and the church) to downtown (near amazement square). Work the option of going down Percival island. Great walk or ride with a bike. Well maintained, and very clean. Definitely recommend!
There are only 3 parking spots.
My favorite walking trail. Shaded from the hot summer sun with just enough breeze to help you keep moving. I love this trail.
Great outdoors exercise venue with lovely paved walking, biking paths, miles of them
Beautiful backroad mountains. Bedford County, Virginia
Great place to do some hiking.
Live running here, gorgeous trails along the bike path
Very nice paved trails. Beautiful nature filled woods, water falls and streams
Great scenery, nice trail, saw lots of wildlife, and friendly people
Great, fairly flat place to walk. Theres a tunnel, waterfall, and beautiful bridge are to see along the way.
A somewhat hidden gem in downtown Lynchburg. Everyone, near and far has free access to this awesome, well kept nature area.
Beautiful walking trails! Dog friendly. Well maintained.
Be aware that the downstream bridge is out. I entered from Thomson St., and couldnt really get into the natural area.
This is a beautiful place to walk, run and bike ride. Shady
Beautiful place with plenty of side trails and entrances.
Scenic getaway, right in town!! Nice walking paths, good for getting away, and collecting your thoughts.
Love fishing here, especially under the waterfall. There are BIG bass and creek chubs there! And a great place for micro-fishing, too.
Very nice
This is one of my favorite spots in Lynchburg. It is centrally located and has many access points throughout the city but the whole trail feels like its miles away. The trails are well maintained and marked.
Great place to get away right in the heart of Lynchburg .
One of the bridges is out and there are no signs ahead of time indicating this. Plan ahead. Great hiking areas.
Great converted rail line trail for biking, rollerblading, jogging, or a casual stroll. Starting at the Ed Page entrance you can visit the Awareness Garden dedicated to those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Following the trail, you can enjoy beautiful trees, valleys cut through rock for the old rail line, and the best part for me -- the old tunnel. The Point of Honor trail runs next to the stream and leads to a beautiful picnic area with grills where a family can enjoy a great afternoon together. Highly recommend this trail for an easy hike, family outings, or daily fitness routine!
Nice. But crowded on weekends
I spent many a days on this path love going.
Nice Trails good views
This is a cool little forested area in the middle of the city, but you forget youre even in a city when you are in there.
I love Blackwater Creek its because its where you could really really free your mind and think Know Who You Are knowing your place in this earth You are not surrounded with a stress problem or family craziness thats why I love this place Blackwater Creek
Nice place for a stroll
I really like the Creekside trail for walking my dog. It is a very easy trail and often I seem to be the only one out there. Very peaceful.
Nice place to go for a walk
A fun place to hike!
Great nature area. Its well maintained and youll feel safe. There are always others using it.
Great place to run. Took my dog and he enjoyed the woods and the river
Great place to walk your dog!
Little place of peace in the city
Too many pedestrians without any self awareness.
Hiking, biking, bird watching, this place has it all. You can take the trail all the way downtown and have lunch if you want. Ive been using this trail for 15 years. It does get busy on nice weekends.
Great walk/hike in the woods with plenty of shade. Just bring plenty of water because the water fountains are very few to none.
I am new to the area and I needed a place to run and feel safe. This area is perfect! Everyone has been really friendly and the place is very clean! Reminds me of the Riverwalk in Chattanooga where Im from!!!
My siblings and I invariably find ourselves here walking off a large holiday meal or burning off some of the kiddos energy. Its a great, easily accessible escape into the wilds of Blackwater creek.
Great place to forget about the world, & reconnect with nature.
BEAUTIFUL! Its a wonderful spot to walk, hike, bike, run or just check out the scenery with a stream just down a trail off the main paved section.
Wonderful place to walk, run, jog, hike, bike, and push babies in strollers while enjoying the beautiful surroundings
Great place to enjoy nature within the city limits. Its clean, safe, and convenient.
Great place
Great place to go on a run or just take a romantic walk down the trail. Also a great place for pictures
Great place for some easy single track trail running, right in the middle of town.
Hiking trails can be a little confusing with the signs that are there.... otherwise was great!
Neat place in the middle of the city, but dont go wading because you will surely get a fish hook in your foot.
Great place for rollerblading or biking in the Burg. Safe for families and friends.
Awesome place to visit
Beautiful place to walk. Some say there is a danger here running/walking alone, but Ive never had a problem.
Beautiful!
Paved rail trail with off asphalt hiking and fire road along creek. Picnic tables at some locations along path which extends from the Greek Orthodox Church well downriver of Percivals island. Road and Mountain bicycles allowed.
Great paved paths with plenty of room for bikes or boards, and plenty of smaller dirt paths that meander through the woods
I love running here in the summer, Remember to always take your cell phone!
Great place Recommend Bikes Unlimited
I grew up in this area. It has always held a special place in my heart and soul.
Perfect place to walk, run, jog, bike etc. Very family and public health friendly.Glad to have moved to this area.
Terribly broken and polluted now. Smells of feces ... very depressing
Unexpected and unique
This trail is by far the most flat running area in the area! The trail is wide enough for running side by side easily and great for side by side biking as well!
