I highly recommend the Speakeasy Tour! If youve been on other bourbon tours, this one is unique because the you learn about prohibition and the tasting was our favorite of the day for the bourbon enthusiast and new bourbon drinkers in our group of 5!! They also did a great job with providing safe social distancing due to the pandemic.

Im not sure how I feel about these in the city bourbon tours. Im never quite sure if they are actually making the stuff at the location, or if Im just looking at the animated Disney version. This tour leaned more on the Disney side. It was a nice experience, the tour guide knowledgeable and fun. The challenge is there are so many really great tours, its hard to stand out. The plus for Evan Williams is that its right in the city, so its convenient.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We could not get reservations for a tasting but decided to visit anyways. We went to the gift shop and were looking at the different bottles when the cashier asked if we would like a sample of their cider, which we tried and was very good.At which time I asked if she had any samples of the other bourbons.(As I really didnt want to buy a bottle and not like it)She gave us a couple other samples which we liked and ended up getting a couple of them.More of these distilleries need to follow this trend when they dont have tours/tasting available.Excellent job Evans Williams experience

We really enjoyed the tour at their downtown Louisville location. Its really done well and our guide was friendly and had loads of information. Go to the 3rd floor for a cocktail to go. It includes the citrus garnishes, a rocks glass and a bag of caramel, cheese or butter popcorn for $10.

I didnt have any expectations going into this but it was really cool! They really take an effort to make it an experience for the people on the tour. Max of 6 people per tour to keep social distancing guidelines. Micah was very knowledgeable and a perfect pairing for anyone who loves 51% corn jokes. The tasting at the end had 3 different types of bourbon (including a very rare to find in the US blend).

Friendly staff and well stocked gift shop started our great experience here! We bought lots of great things including some fun t-shirts, Christmas ornaments, cherries and cocktail mixers. I really LOVE the Evan Williams Old Fashion Cocktail Mixer. This distillery started our collection of roly-poly glassware! We love those!! Then we headed to the Speakeasy Tour! Highly recommend the tour!! Our guide was fantastic, dressed the part, spoke the part and really took us back in time!! What a highlight of our 10 day bourbon trail trip!

My fiancé loves Evan Williams so of course, we had to visit the distillery! I am SO happy we did! The staff here was amazing and made our first bourbon experience so fantastic. You can tell they love what they do and went above and beyond to keep us safe during covid. Our tour guide was fantastic. Bob was so knowledgeable and had us laughing the whole way through. I also have to give a very special shout out to Rita! This was our very first time to Louisville and she took the time to write down several things we should do while staying here. Honestly, every person we met here was amazing. Don’t hesitate, go here and sign up for a tour. You will not be disappointed!

I was entirely impressed by this tour, and youll be too. I immediately realized how much work (and money) was invested in making this a world-class bourbon experience. Youll begin by watching a short video presentation, projected on a wall. It is very well done. Youll be escorted to another room, given a brief explanation, and youll soon watch another video on the bourbon making process. A wall behind you opens and youll get to see a beautiful distillery in action. After a brief hike up some stairs (an elevator is available if needed) and more interesting facts, youll be ushered into a beautiful recreation of old Louisvilles Main Street. Before long, youll find yourself taste testing some good old bourbon. This tour by far exceeded my expectations. Everything is set up beautifully and the presentation was top notch. This is a highly recommended visit for anyone that loves their bourbon.

Our tour guide was Sarah was amazing and even took time after the tour to give us advice on other things to do nearby.Dont skip this tour.

Good tour and different yet nice experience. If you are expecting a tour of a working distillery, you might be disappointed. It is more of a tour of the history of Evan Williams and Louisville. Hallways recreate Main Street with store fronts from back in the day. Some interesting videos that use a lot of technology. You will def learn a few things and can tell a lot of thought and money went into this tour. There is a small distillery located on premises to show you how whiskey is made. The gift shop has some amazing sauces to try. I loved the bourbon apple butter.

The Evan Williams experience is in a historic Whiskey row building. If you haven’t been to the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience on Main Street yet, you are missing out! In addition to the traditional tour, they offer a “Speakeasy Tour” of the basement speakeasy. In order to gain access to the speakeasy, you must first guess the secret code correctly. Only then will the door attendant unlock the heavy steel vault door to let you inside. The room you enter contains a beautiful wraparound cherry bar area. Once you’re seated at the bar, you will get to try Larceny, Evan Williams Bottled-In-Bond, and Evan Williams 23-year bourbons. After the tour, tasting, and history lesson, you will be directed to the gift shop. Worth the time to visit.

Given that you visit Evan Williams downtown in Louisville instead than in the Kentucky countryside, the experience is meticulously designed to illustrate in an authentic setting the history of bourbon. Nice visuals and effects make for a nice tour and will take on a time travel trip to a time long ago. Of course to top that a great tasting experience in a very nice bar.

Speakeasy TourWe were in Louisville attending a separate event when we decided to spend the rest of the afternoon walking Main Street and looking for other activities when we decided to enter the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience and my husband decided on the Speakeasy Tour. I had no idea what to expect so while waiting for our tour to begin we made the rounds in the gift shop and of course managed to find a few things we just couldnt live without. After entering the basement I was instructed to knock on the appointed door and when the peep hole was opened I gave the secret name to be let in. This was a private tour for just the two of us and it was quite entertaining. The bar tender was in pretty strict prohibition dress and period topics while serving us four very different bourbon whiskey produced by the company. This was a very informative and entertaining way to spend a half hour. I never thought about taking any photographs especially since it was during prohibition and cell phones are a long way in the future. Great fun and great bourbon whiskey. This is truly a must experience while visiting Louisville.

I was pleasantly surprised by this distillery tour. I cant say Im a particularly big fan of Evan Williams bourbon, but I am definitely more of a fan after this tour. The production value of their tour is top notch - better than any distillery or brewery tour Ive ever been on. It serves more as a museum than a tour, with short movies and interactive displays narrating the story of Evan Williams, Louisville, and whiskey in America as a whole. On top of that, our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about bourbon and even taught me (an experienced bourbon drinker) a few things about drinking bourbon!Perhaps there are other distillery tours in Louisville that are just as enjoyable or even make better bourbon, but the production quality of this tour sets it apart.

If you’re in downtown Louisville, this is a fun way to learn the history of bourbon and the region - without having to drive or get out of the main downtown area. You get just enough of the distillery experience. Feels historic, and not industrial like other distilleries further from downtown. The best part is the speakeasy! Great store too - where you can usually snag a rare bottle of the good stuff. You can just pop into the store if you don’t want to do the tour. FYI - tour takes 1 hour.

Bought tickets for my brother and I to celebrate our birthday and figured the tour would just be the add-on to a bourbon tasting that was well worth $15. I was totally wrong and got it backwards; the tour is the main exhibit and the bourbon is the cherry on top. The tour is so cool but no description could do it justice, its something you have to experience to understand. They have videos demonstrating how the river would have looked and how Evan Williams would have interacted with the people of Louisville, and maybe its a little cheesy but its well done and engaging.
